Yeah, fields look like a solid player. Good size, good instincts. A real keeper, perfect for rounding out a team for a championship run. Hopefully, in the future he won't have to this to boost his jersey sales anymore. Haha

the Nuggets made a whopping demand ... Denver asked for Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Landry Fields, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov and a first-round pick (obtained via Anthony Randolph) for Anthony and point guard Chauncey Billups.

read about it here.

If I were Donnie Walsh I would have told the Nuggets they were crazy. It seems to me the Nuggets are just buying time to convince Melo to stay.

It looks like at this pace that the knicks are on their way to winning 45 games this year.

It's nothing but a high-stakes game of chicken.

Dolan might override Walsh and make this deal. I keep picturing this fool on the phone with Isiah telling him to do it.

Sadly, that's not unlikely.

Thomas’ influence grows within Knicks

Thomas is driving everything through owner James Dolan – the trade for Carmelo Anthony, the departure of Donnie Walsh and perhaps even the eventual hiring of the New York Knicks’ next president and general manager, multiple league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

“Isiah is calling the shots for New York,” said one front-office executive with knowledge of the Anthony trade talks. “It’s a disgrace. Donnie should walk.”

It's a real shame, truly a slap in the face for Walsh who has done an amazing job of cleaning up Isiah's mess in only a couple of years. If Dolan wants to remain friendly with Thomas, there's nothing wrong with that per se but when he's still consulting him on basketball matters and letting him pull strings and essentially run the team from the outside, that's just not on.

Shame on Dolan for allowing that to happen and undermining Walsh. I'd also say shame on Thomas for trying to push Walsh out of a job that Thomas rightfully lost fair and square. Wojnarowski also says shame on Stern for letting all this go on and indeed if there's anything he could be doing here, shame on him for not doing it. If he's concerned about the integrity of the league, stamping out stuff like this will go much further than handing out techs to players who dare to roll their eyes after a bad call.

This Walsh/Thomas crap makes me want to become a Knicks fan just so I can stop being a Knicks fan.

It really is sad, growing up I always thought of NY as a classy organization and figured they just had bad GM's the last couple of years but Dolan's handling of Walsh and how he seems to be a little bitch to Thomas is just saddening as a NBA fan.

As ‘Melo arrives, Zeke hides in shadows

Summing it up in a quote:

From immortal player to NBA president, GM and coach, Thomas has completed his transformation into a two-bit AAU middleman peddling imaginary influence to a sad, lonely delusional Dolan.

Fuck you, James Dolan...

Donnie Walsh's reason drowned out by James Dolan, Isiah Thomas and flip-flopping media critics

Walsh is saying all the right things but it wouldn't surprise me too much if he walks even if there's an extension on the table before April 30th. Who would want to be Isiah's puppet after cleaning up his mess?

Knicks start off the Melo era with a win, Carmelo had 27 points (10-25 shooting) and 10 rebounds. Didn't watch the game so I can't comment on his shot selection. Billups had a nice game with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists. Star of the night was Toney Douglas though. Cavs are coming up on Friday before Miami on Sunday.

Shot selection? Dude...if he took that many shots just to get 27 points...dude!

It was funny watching Dolan's nose grow when he spoke at yesterday's press conference.

It depends. Sometimes a player might have three or four missed layups where fouls were not called (and as such, should've been two at the line and not registered as a missed field goal attempt). Other times, they might be good looks but they're just not falling. Either way it's still a poor shooting night but the misses themselves might not necessarily (all) be poor shot selection.

I just watched the highlights for the recent game, I thought Anthony was supposed to be lighter after claiming that he was on a vegetarian diet. He still looks jiggly. I feel that they should be able to run more to utilize stoudamire to the fullest. Time will though tell if the team will mesh together nicely.

Cavs out-rebounded the Knicks 62-42 and scored 62 points in the second half.

No matter how many stars the Knicks bring in, they're going nowhere with this fraud coach and his style of play. This team is lost on defense.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:50 am

Why criticize already? The NYK didn't bring Melo for the short term purpose, but rather for years to follow. Adding a bonafide superstar of course cost NYK some good players right now so the depth is obviously very shallow at the moment, but give the team some time like this coming offseason, I am sure they'll find great role players to complement NYK's new trio. Just look at supporting players the trio is playing with right now. No matter how good the trio plays, the team obviously has flaws.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Mon Feb 28, 2011 2:02 pm

Wow. What a win by NYK. Melo and Amare who are known for their shit defense actually came up big defensively when it mattered the most. Melo's D on Bron was awesome and that block by Amare on Bron just killed any hopes for the Heat in tonight's game. Also the Billup's 3 pointer that gave the Knicks' the lead in final few minutes was just devastating. The NYK's trio defenitely outplayed Heat's trio.

As for the Heat, Bron should have had at least +3 or more assists, but shots weren't falling. Wade and Bosh were forcing too hard too. Just an awful night.

Knicks with 2 hard fought defensive wins against the Heat this year. If they played this hard against every team they'd be so much better.

Played under playoff atmosphere. (Y) MVP was Spike Lee.

Was surprised of so many NYK fans in the Heat stadium. Actually heard chants when NKY scored each time under pressure.

Jeffx,

You have to at least admit, for the first time in what...decades? You have two and a half pieces that could if they get hot put you non-fluke in the Finals.

They aren't perfect, they aren't automatic contenders, but Amare and Melo/Billups have each been in Conference Finals how many times in the last couple years?

For a "first step" this has to be better than Ewing and Starks no?

I understand that, but I'll be happier when we get a real coach. Don't like D'Amphony - never have, never will.
