Wow, Oden with 10 fouls in a summer league  if this will keep happening in NBA games it won't help the Blazers much.

[Stephen A. Smith] Quite frankly, I hereby declare Greg Oden A BUST! [/Stephen A. Smith]

It will take a while for him to learn how to play the 5. "While" could be years. Portland did draft a freshman, which the media doesn't seem to be understanding.

What I like from the Blazers is LaMarcus Aldridge. Him and Oden will be a powerful frontcourt tandem for years to come. Actually, their styles are in sharp contrast with the frontcourt tandem of Bosh and Bargnani. Interesting.

great how 1 game, in a summer league, can get people all worked up

Tim Duncan was pwnt hard by Ostertag in one of his first summer league games.

Bump.

Really appreciated having the chance to catch a Blazers match today on Fox. I was pleasantly suprised with Webster and obviously LaMarcus. Wondering if these guys have shown significant improvement over the off season or generally showed glimpes like this last season? Will have to keep an eye open for these folks, pairing Aldridge with Oden can only be good.

you think Bulls would want LaMarcus?

Blazers played well but they were generally confused defensively, especially in the zone. Webster continues to be deadly shooting, especially from the baseline and Outlaw playing PF looked good.

Obviously Aldridge's height is a big advantage, however i do like what i have seen from the Bull's Thomas and from earlier reports his been working on his mid-range jumper a hell of a lot iirc. In saying that i'd still probably take LaMarcus.

Unless Frye can show some significant improvement i'm not sure how he will lock up a starting spot, granted only one game has passed and everyone is still trying to find out where it is they stand... However i'm not sure if it was just me but everything he did today just seemed a little...awkward. On another note Webster's jumpshot is really pretty!

I've never really been much of a Blazer's fan, however i loved hating them back a few years ago with Sheed. Would love to see them build up that 'rough & tough' post-season image again over the next few years lol.

I have to admit, watching that game I started wondering whether he'd be able to provide a bit of a scoring punch in the post for the Bulls had that Draft day deal not gone down but I like the promise that Tyrus Thomas has shown too. Aldridge did have a fine game at the offensive end though, overall it was a pretty good game to watch since the Blazers made it interesting at times despite the Spurs' pulling away and ultimately prevailing.

Went to the home opener last night and watched 'da Blazers win. They did much better than the 3-point margin of victory would have you believe.

Aldridge got 3 fouls in, I kid you not, like... 5 minutes. Maybe less. They were totally BS calls (on both sides... both teams were racking up weird fouls).

I was very happy to see Chandler get ejected.

Portland won its last 10 games and now the Blazers are 7th in Western Conf (without G. Oden)

I belive they could make the playoff.

Outlaw also deserves to be in the starting 5

Mon Dec 24, 2007 5:32 am

I don't think they'll keep this up for much longer, but it certainly is exciting.

Mon Dec 24, 2007 6:05 am

This has been pretty cool, but I doubt it lasts. The Blazers will probably miss the playoffs if Utah and Houston get their act together.

I wanted them to tank the season and get Rose or Beasley anyway.

Proof that Nate McMillan is one of the top coaches in the NBA. This man doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Mon Dec 24, 2007 9:49 am

He's an incredible coach. With him the Sonics soared to the Northwest Division title in 05, and with basically the same unit in 06, minus AD and Jerome James, they were absolutely horrible under Bob Weiss/Bob Hill. I still don't understand why he left Seattle. He had a winning team, he was/is Mr. Sonic, and his son was going to HS in Seattle.

Oh well, can't win em all I guess. But yes, he is a fantastic coach and has completely transformed the image of the Blazers.

silas Who is AD?

My only problem with him is substitutions at times that make absolutely zero sense.

Is this the first time you make a non-dynasty post? Now, I'm not Silas, but I'm pretty sure AD is PG Antonio Daniels.

Mon Dec 24, 2007 12:14 pm

Haha not its not Lamrock, althoguh granted most of my posts have been dynasty related...

Outlaw COULD be in the starting 5 however he is the reason why we are able to keep the intensity the whole game. He really is a great player, and much needed player off the bench.

Wed Dec 26, 2007 2:55 am

Yes, AD is Antonio Daniels, the highly underrated, though initially highly overrated point guard.

Mon Dec 31, 2007 5:10 am

For some reason, they're still winning.

Mon Dec 31, 2007 12:45 pm

13 straight now. Amazingly they outscored Philly by 27 in the fourth! I know its the Sixers, but still! Maybe if Korver was still there, the streak would have ended.

Tomorrow will be a big test. Can they hold their winning streak into 2008? They are up against Utah tomorrow, which should be interesting. Utah has been dogshit lately. (Are they like the 07 Clippers?)

Mon Dec 31, 2007 2:01 pm

It's nice seeing the Blazers winning. They have some of my favorite young players in Roy, Aldridge, and Frye. I've watched a couple of their games during this winning run and I'm liking what I see.

I remember it was mentioned in one game of theirs I watched, I think it was the Christmas Day game, that only 2 teams with at least a 10 game W streak ended up missing the playoffs.

I didn't expect them to win a lot of games this season, much less a 13 game winning streak. I actually wanted them to draft Derrick Rose. The thought of Oden, Aldridge, Webster, Roy, and Rose as a starting 5 was interesting. But I guess their success throws that scenario out.
