Kobe has shown at the Olympics that he actually is able to work together with great playmakers such as Paul and Williams. So leaving the ball more often to Nash should be less a problem and more a relief. The question is, whether he is compatible with Howard or not, as there is only one basketball on the court...

Durant, like Kobe, is not an elite defender.

Nash needs to make sure everyone gets their touches. Hopefully, Nash and Dwight can play on one side of th offense, and Kobe can learn to move without the ball in his hands.

Strange though that just a few years back, Dwight was the Lakers' opponent in the finals, and soon he will be playing for the oppposing team.

All of sudden, everyone is predicting Magic will be one of the worst teams in the league.

They pushed series with the Pacers to 7 games WITHOUT Howard. There have been chemistry issues also while he was playing. They STILL got some good players who can do a solid job. And they have many draft picks to come.

Nuggest will be winners of this trade, in my opinion. And for the Lakers, I just don't know how it will all work out. They have fantastic team on the paper, we just need to see how well they will be doing on the court.

This just in, Dwight Howard will not re-sign with the Lakers. Will take his talents to South Beach in 2013.

I take it you missed how they lost their second best player as well.

And coach.

I don't think he'll do that, but perhaps he'll still take them to the Big D when the season is over.

I expect him to stick with the Lakers for a long time and with a real big contract...

At least the Magic won't have a Cleveland-Cavalier aftermath, cause they were doing pretty good.

But I don't understand why people hate LeBron for leaving Cleveland by using a TV special (which was all produced and conjured up by the media) and celebrating his new teammates. He even waiting to be a free agent instead of demanding a trade.

Howard held his team hostage for a year and a half (much longer than one-hour, like LeBron) and no one hates him? It doesn't make sense to me.

Dwight Howard is officially traded to the Lakers.
Dwight Howard has been traded to the Lakers following the completion of an official trade call with the NBA league office.

The reported deal will send Howard, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark to the Lakers, Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson to the Sixers, while the Magic would receive at least Arron Afflalo, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless, Christian Eyenga, Josh McRoberts and a first round pick from each of the other teams along with the Warriors' second round pick in 2013 via Denver.

They should wish they are, if they keep stucking in around 10th position, they would have no hope to rebuild (I think Lakers, Denver, Philly picks would be low for the next couple of years for sure) They are like back in 2006-2007 season: The Magic are really one of the basement teams in the Eastern Conference. They don't have many scoring threats at all, and their starting lineup is filled with guys that would be on the bench on most other teams. Even worse now they don't have a rising star like DH back then to build around.

Iggy, Vucevic and Harkless for a dumbass with huge potential who will probably get injured halfway through the season and then leave in the summer and J-Rich's contract. I say that's a high price to pay.

I like how the Magic end up trading Dwight for Arron Afflalo, a bunch of non-lottery prospects and protected picks. Even whatever Nets were offering was better, despite Lopez's max.

Kobe Bryant might be the most lucky player in this league's history now considering how many stacked teams he's been on. Mike Brown and Kobe taking Kobe shots are probably the only hopes for the fans of other teams.

Obviously there thinking was that they'd win too many games with either. They want to tank team to get high lottery pick.

Given that, why not just trade Dwight to Rockets? They could've got some good, young prospects as well as unprotected picks. Once Dwight bolts at season's end, then you are in better shot of getting lottery picks out of those 1st round picks.

And how did Magic not get somebody to take Hedo's contract?!? What?!?

They won't? That's kind of the point...

Yes, Cleveland should be thrilled that they got NOTHING in return for LeBron, while Orlando got "Arron Afflalo, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless, Christian Eyenga, Josh McRoberts and a first round pick from each of the other teams along with the Warriors' second round pick in 2013 via Denver" for Dwight.

Yeah, there was no commotion at all about LeBron before that 1 hour. Also, Howard's image went unaffected and everyone loves him.

You're confusing Lakers fans for everyone.
One of the reasons people like this trade is because it gives Steve Nash a greater chance to get his ring.
