Glad the Mavs got rid of Odom. Hopefully that gives them enough cap space to sign Deron. (or did they have enough space already?)

They are already under the cap by around $15-17 million I believe, so it's feasible.

Not until they renounce Kidd and Terry, then amnesty one of Haywood and Marion.

Surprised to see Odom go to the Clippers and Mo end up in Utah, I'm guessing they're planning for Billups not to get injured this time. Odom can be useful if he can get back to his old game he had with the Lakers. Maybe being back in LA can spark it back up.

Interesting trade with the Mavericks receiving nothing but cap space. That's almost like a slap in the face to Lamar Odom, being worth nothing.

As much as i like Lamar Odom, but he was worth nothing for the Mavs.
Well he served as a stabilizer for the Mav's bench, which could fall over as long as he was guarding it...

That's what the Lakers got in return for him too.

And KG is back:
Celtics to re-sign forward Kevin Garnett to a three-year, $34 million deal, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

At least Cuttino Mobley was a second round gem for them, rather than that batch of nobodies.

So seems Kidd has made up his mind about being a back up to Williams, so it'll either be the Mavs or the Nets getting both Williams & Kidd, not a bad duo to have at that position.

Not a bad move for the Celtics, seems like a pretty fair deal given the rejuvenation he showed in the 2012 Playoffs. A little surprised to see him re-sign for three years though, I thought he might've taken it year-by-year.

Hearing Rockets prepared to offer Omer Asik in the $8 million range annually.

Eric Gordon, the New Orleans Hornets' restricted free agent, is seeking a max, 4-year, $58 million deal, sources say.

So Michael Beasley is an unrestricted FA now. I know his personality and work ethic are the complete opposite of what the Thunder are about, but I wonder if his childhood friend Durant would try to get him to OKC. He could be a handy scorer off the bench.

That said, I don't know how much he'd want or how much we have to spend. I'm sure some team will offer him a big contract.

If Beasley isn't willing to sacrifice a a significant part of his income, OKC could not affort him.
I'm also not sure Beasley is willing to come of the bench one more season.

OKC wouldn't want Beasley. Frontcourt is already pretty stacked, especially considering they added Perry Jones III & they like to play Harden at the 3 at times & play with a smaller lineup.

As for free agency, I hope Dwight Howard doesn't get his way. He just has to accept he handled situation poorly & couldn't man up. I hope Nets aren't stupid enough to trade for JJ & his mammoth contract. With the new CBA, contracts like his are just so toxic it's ridiculous. Why not try to get OJ Mayo for half that? Not a fan of Roy Hibbert as a max player. The thought just makes me cringe. Wish Bogut was healthy & no rooted elbow etc then he would also somehow be a max contract centre too.

Should be interesting to see how the dominoes fall. If I'm Atlanta, I take whatever I can get to unload Joe Johnson outside of toxic contracts back. Trade him for a sign-and-trade OJ Mayo or Brook Lopez. Billy King has track record to make this happen.

As I said in the Bulls thread, I wouldn't fault them at all for passing on matching/besting that offer. I like Asik, I think there's promise there, but that's just a little too much. Not a terrible move for the Rockets, though they are overpaying him a bit.

Not sure about Gordon being worth the max. He's a player that the Hornets should try to hold onto but that's franchise player money and he remains largely unproven in that regard. It certainly wouldn't be the worst contract in league history - past or present - but yeah, not completely sold on him being a max player.

With paying players like Asik 8 mio, GM's start to make the same mistakes again that led to the lockout...

Sam Amick: Source: Portland GM Neil Olshey & team prez Larry Miller visited restricted free agent center Roy Hibbert tonight in DC, offered max deal

Sam Amick: Indiana did not offer a max deal, and Hibbert is now leaning to Blazers unless Pacers match. One other unnamed team offered max.

Damn Portland, what's your problem with ruining good players?!

They do what the can do best. ;)

PS: This could serve as a definition or test for a"good player": A good player is a player who, when playing for Portland, is forced to end his career early due to injuries.

40 mil for Gerald Wallace from the Nets.

What the hell are they doing?

Indiana will match anything, but Roy Hibbert would be sweet.

LOL at Gerald Wallace getting 40 mil. My biggest fear was that they would ruin the next few years by giving him an extension, but fortunately they just got a #6 pick for him instead. (Y)

Blake Griffin signed an extension with the Clips, Chris Paul declined an extension most likely because he can get almost 50 million more after his contract is up.

Words can't express what I'd like to say... :turrible: :facepalm2:

Edit: Nets now seem to chase Joe Johnson. Looks like the Nets will become NBA's Chelsea...
