It's probably partly that. Perhaps some stars see it as being beneath them or they'd simply rather take the opportunity to rest for a couple of days in the middle of a long season. As far as Blake is concerned, it's probably a case of "been there, done that" after last year.

I just don't think these diva players are respecting the fans enough. LeBron for example - one of the best in-game dunkers in the league, & he hasn't entered the dunk contest once. Fans and media every year beg him to do it & he keeps denying it. Like really? Is that too much to ask for?

Their wishes also have to be respected, too. No one should be forced to compete in the competition if they don't want to.

The problem with LeBron is that he ums and ahs over it before ultimately withdrawing his name from consideration. Worst of all was the 2009 contest, when he grabbed the spotlight from Nate Robinson and overshadowed the whole contest by declaring he'd be entering next year. Then 2010 rolled around and it was the same old story. If he doesn't want to compete, that's fine, but he should just say as much. If he's asked about, he should just say no, as Kobe and Vince have taken to doing since they won their respective contests.
