At least Mike Brown will let Kobe do on offense whatever he wants, like he did with LeBron.

The Lakers' 2005-2007 seasons suggest that such an approach will let Kobe climb the all-time scoring list a little quicker, but not yield a lot of success in the Playoffs. Of course, the Lakers have a little more talent now than they did during those years so it might work out a little better.

Theres an article on NBA.com saying that the Lakers narrowed the search to Adelman and Brown, they added that they do want to save they're salary and would pay 5mill at best. Not liking the Brown idea at all.

The Lakers' average age is only slightly higher than that of the Mavericks. I think the notion that the Lakers are old is being overblown in the wake of the second round sweep. They could do with a bit more speed at the point with Fisher moving into a bench role if he's still around but I don't think the situation is that dire.

Thank you, they're not that old.

Yeah, hopefully he gets Pau and Bynum more involved if they want at least some success

Yeah I don't think Mike Brown was a great hire for the Lakers. It's good to see he got a job though after LEBRON fired him.

We will see what happens with Coach Brown. I'm not going to write off a coach who has coached a team to the NBA Finals (although they did get spanked by the Spurs), had the NBA's best record twice (iirc), made Mo Williams look good, and has coached under Coach Pop. Not to mention Ron Artest was on the Pacers team when he was there - same season Artest won DPOY. That was same year I believe Chuck Person was there too. I'm excited about what this team can do defensively - that's where we were winning games after All-Star Weekend.

I'm also impressed by Coach Brown's vision: 'We have two 7-footers, Odom who is versatile, Big Ron who is tough and the sleekness in my man Kobe Bryant'... (something like that)... I believe the Lakers will be fine on both ends of the floor.

I also realize people laughing at Mike Brown's lack of offense but I guess he will be able to draw in some former assistants. Not to mention European Coach Ettore Messina has signed on as an offensive consultant.

He has won 4 Euroleague championships as a head coach. Messina is regarded as one of the best European basketball coaches, having been named in 2008, one of the Euroleague's 10 Greatest All-Time Coaches. Furthermore, he twice won the Euroleague Coach of the Year award, in 2006 and 2008.

He's definitely was not my first choice as Lakers head coach but I'm going to get behind him and the team!

Bracing myself for Lakers fans to burn me at the stake!

One problem with your logic Sit: This isnt euroleague. Is there any proof that success there means success in the NBA?

Honestly, I dont care either way. I'd love to see the lakers go back to their pre-Pau struggles. But i feel like a drunk monkey could at least get this team into playoffs.

But if you're looking for a guy whos going to command respect? A guy who's going to be able to lead when the chips are down and its not all about the fun and games and spectacle? I just dont think Mike Brown is gonna be it

Oznogrd, that's exactly why Coach Messina did not take a Head Coaching job. He says that he wants to get experience as an Assistant Coach first (I guess to get a feel for how things are done in the NBA). To have a brilliant basketball mind on your bench in that capacity has got to be a plus.

This is a veteran team and hopefully Coach Brown will be able to get everyone on board with his vision of discipline and defense. I agree with you that I wasn't going for him as an option but he's signed on now so can't really do nothing about it. If this works out though, young Buss is a genius. I'm excited because from what Brown has said, it seems like Bynum/Pau/Odom will be staying together for at least another few months! :) The team can win the championship - but obviously dependant on offseason moves as well as coaching.

I realize that counter argument. Let's see what happens though.
