Re: ALL-NBA Teams Announced

I'm jumping off your point, not disagreeing.

Even Ricky Davis didn't "stat pad" the year he went for his triple double. Players do a lot of stupid stuff for triple doubles when they're close, especially on losing teams because it's something you can get joy out of.

But that year Ricky didn't really play all that different from his other years other than the fact the team was shit and someone needed to use the ball, so he did. He's at 16/4/4 per 36 and 23% usage for his career. That year he did 19/4/5 on 27% on the worst team in the league. Took three extra shots, got three extra points (and his ORtg was crap) and was only perimeter scorer so he got assists.

If that's stat padding, no one smart would even identify it as such because it's entirely explainable within context of his career.

It's his PER GAME stats that are out of wack because he played 40 minutes a game on a team where it was basically him to create all of the perimeter offense.

In other words it was a fluke high usage year, but calling it stat padding is hard. Like Andrew said, you can do it in a few games, but not over a season. And not for good.

And Love has done it over his entire career including college. It's not a fluke at that point.

A guy who comes in averaging 16/13 for his career at age 22 who puts up 20/15 for a team like the Wolves is not something you even bat an eye at.

Dwight Howard came in at 15.5/12 and then did 20/13.5 at 22 and 21/14 at 23. GASP. STAT PADDING.

Zan's just upset about Bosh.

No, I was just wrong about him being a padder stat. Calling him that was farfetched and I admit that. And this probably is why I like discussing with benji though it frustrates him. Rofl.

I guess I was on the wrong side of argument. Perhaps he's as great as people claim. Now I would like to see it all being done while winning. Still little being skeptical... but not as much as before... shys away...

My frustration stemmed from your inability to mention other stat padders, even after I did so. Because this is the only way we can determine IF Love is a stat padder or not.

I honestly do not consider Love, having his team down 15 because it's shit, going out and looking for rebounds to keep up his personal streak to be anything serious. Especially since he grabs tons of boards anyway. Rodman went single minded into rebounding for some reason nobody is aware of, but that's still value. Love's not a shot blocker, help defense doesn't help much when your team has no defense, so Love locking down the boards works as well.

I think that Love has a case to be worth at least half of the Wolves wins. Imagine him on a good team where he can full bore to the boards and not have to be the top scorer! (To some extent I think this Love doubt, in the media at least, is part of the same vibe that said he could never amount to anything because he wasn't athletic enough even though he dunked on everyone and dominated in college. Because he's white.)

On shit teams, you look for personal performance because it's the only way to escape shit teams.

It's worth noting that you can look at players like Bosh, Boozer, Randolph, Dirk, Pau Gasol, etc. And take guys who are not great individual defenders, but find ways where they can be average or above average by placing a proper defensive system.

That, and the fact that, outside of the 2003 Nuggets, people on teams that are disaster areas don't play defense anyway because what's the fucking point.

He may not be 'talented' but he gets the job done. Offensive Rating of 123? Yes, please!

NovU wrote:hey won 15 games last year with Al Jefferson as their guy. So Love brought 2 more wins while playing 10 more games. Impressive should I say?
He increased his Win Shares from 4.9 to 11.4 this season, making up for the loss of Al Jefferson (4.6).
He basically stepped up in 'winning' with the loss of Al Jefferson while still being surrounded by mediocre teammates like last season. Impressive indeed.

Hey, don't make me report your post again. :shake:

I believe I'm allowed to consider you an honorary American under a provision in the Treaty of Manila. But that doesn't mean I have to consider the rest of them.

Unless your problem is that I considered the Phillipino people to be lesser than Canadians, that was a mistake on my part and I apologize if anyone was offended.

To be honest, I was surprised at some of his numbers since he's not the type of guy that could create for himself nor for teammates. You can't really run offense through him either when he's up against good defender. But right. He gets the job done. That's wut's important.

What's annoying though is... wutz the deal with Canada here. Fuck u all I'm leaving this dump. And enjoy ur communiti or bitches benji since ur the queen of em. :shake:

Everyone knows that Canada is a frozen wasteland of a hellhole, this is proven fact and has been proven again and again on these forums for years.

Love gets a good number of his points in one of the best ways possible. Offensive rebound, put it back up for easy score.

Kobe should be down by 1 team and Gasol shouldn't be on any.

Gasol didn't have a great postseason this year but he's not out of place on an All-NBA team given his performance during the regular season.
