It is partially for relaxation, but its a muscle memory thing. If someone practices FTs enough, they can make them every time even with their eyes closed. The routine becomes part of that muscle memory. Basically, the muscles feel the routine motion, and go "Oh yeah ok, im supposed to do exactly this now" and then they do it.
It's grainy but it proves the point.
Also, the record for FTs in a row is like 5221 or something. Would be pretty much positive that guy has a routine for each one
