Who knows, Modi, Martin may lead Houston back to the Promised Land if he stays healthy?
even though i'm still skeptical about his skills.

Trading an unwanted and unused Tracy McGrady for Kevin Martin? I don't think there's any problems there, I don't think it's too great a risk (questions about Martin's durability aside) and could allow Ariza to move back into a role to which he's more suited. I'm not sure I'd be too willing to give up Landry to get the deal done though, I'd sooner explore one of the other scenarios involving McGrady or even buy him out.

good deal for both teams..

Why would the Rockets trade Landry? He was their best player alongside Brooks this season.. Martin is good, but they also have Ariza on that position, while practically nobody at the back-up PF/C.

They are falling out of playoff picture, so I guess the change was inevitable, but I'm surprised to see Landry leaving. Perhaps, he held the most trade value in Houston's roster. Anyways, Kevin Martin is just about doubtful with his health and ability to play at old level. I don't like this trade for the Rockets.
Tracy McGrady, I don't know how he'll fare with his new team where Evans is up and coming, but this sure makes SAC interesting to watch. Tracy alone would have made this team interesting but with Landry, I think it's a step up for sure since they also have an insurance in Tracy's expiring contract.

Kings get: Landry, Hughes, Dorsey
Knicks get: T-Mac, Sergio Rodriguez
Houston gets: Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries, Knicks '12 First (top 10 protected)
Fri Feb 19, 2010 4:48 am
Hope that's the trade. I think Jordan Hill is going to be a solid NBA big man.

Fixed.
That's the latest I've heard. If so, Daryl Morey just committed daylight robbery and potato-sacked Walsh on the way out. As a Rockets fan, losing Landry was hard, but on the bright side, they've got Hill and 2 other potential youngsters to work with in the future. Great trade.

Went from a D+ trade for the Rockets to about a B. Knickerbockers got ripped here.
Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:06 am
Yeah the Knicks have been raped and pillaged, then raped again a bit harder. Top 1 and Top 5 protected, what the fuck are they thinking.
Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:13 am
Let's hope that the Knicks keep sucking...
Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:32 am
Bucks are apparently dangling Ersan Ilyasova and a pick of some description for Landry according to Steve Haywood.
Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:40 am
Seems like Knicks are going all in for the free agent market. If you pull KG and Ray Allen trade and land a superstar from free agency, I think all will work out well. Meanwhile, I have a feeling Tracy is only there for an expiring contract, but I hope I am wrong.
Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:43 am
If the Kings trade Landry for Ilyasova and a pick I will laugh so hard.
Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:51 am
This Steve Haywood guy seems to be the only one reporting it. Ilyasova's pretty good and Landry only has a year left on his deal, but if they were to do that deal they'd be basically giving up completely. At least this season.

I guess Walsh is confident that they'll land a big name this offseason and at worst give up a pick in the middle of the first round in 2011 and 2012. You've got to admire his optimism, if nothing else.

This trade just went from being questionable to being a robbery. I think Daryl Morey just robbed the Knicks. I wonder how many players the Rockets will keep though. I think they'll definitely keep Hill and Armstrong but I'm not so sure about Jefferies. I hope the arrival of Martin doesn't limit Brooks' potential though.

They have to keep Jeffries he's not an expiring.
Fri Feb 19, 2010 11:50 am
Unless he's overcome by charitable feelings and opts out. Not much incentive for him to walk away from $6.8 mil though.
Fri Feb 19, 2010 7:56 pm
Okay, that's robbery. Talk about leverage, getting Jeffries effectively knocks Houston out of any 2010 stakes, but it wasn't like they'd get anyone anyway.
The Knicks sure are putting all their eggs in one basket though. If they get LeBron, those picks won't matter all that much since they'd be in the playoffs. If they don't, shit could get ugly fast...and great for the Rockets. And I think Yao comes off the books soon too...

Once he learns how to catch an entry pass. No basketball IQ
