Re: Griffin out for the Rest of the Season

Maybe I was right when I said they should have taken Rubio (who would have played if he were selected top 3 in such a large market). Never really cared for Griffin, and I'm probably dealing him in my association as he looks like Greg Oden 2.0. Tough luck for the Clippers, but at least they're fielding their best team in 4 years.

Perhaps and with the rookie scale his contract would be a little fatter at the third pick, but chances are he would've remained in Europe until a cheaper buyout could be arranged as he ultimately opted for.

I was really looking for Griffin's debut I guess that the Clippers badluck continue with Griffin :(

Careless kid.

So having to sit by and watch his teammates in training camp because of an injured left knee is hoop torture for the power forward from Oklahoma. Naturally, the rookie is pushing the envelope.
...
"Then I saw him do things he shouldn't be doing," Dunleavy said. "Had to bang on the window and go down and explain to him, 'Look, you're out until ... this thing needs to rest. If you jump around, it will not clear up and it's just more days [out].

"Just do what you're told to do."

What exactly was the forbidden move?

"I saw him jump up in the air," Dunleavy said. "He jumped like 5 feet in the air and landed. It's not what he's supposed to be doing. He's mad ... he feels better like he can play. It's one of those things where we need it to clear up. It's not a big thing. If you don't let it clear up, it had the chance for deposits to build, things that we don't need to have happen happen.

He never really recovered it seems like, then he gets a more serious injury and gives up his rookie year.

Really doesn't pay to be the number 1 draft pick any more. Watch out John Wall.

Can't blame him for wanting to get out there, run with the team and get his NBA career underway but it would seem his desire and determination to play were his undoing here. Hopefully it's only a minor setback, he'll learn some patience from the whole experience and return healthy next year. Hopefully he and Oden will have better luck in avoiding freak injuries as well, it'd be a real shame to have two number one picks taken two years apart crash and burn like that.

With Rose being an average starting PG, Bogut could end up being the best #1 pick of the last 5 years.

Rose's numbers in December and January haven't been too bad, I still think it's too soon to write him off though I must admit I'm not all that confident in his ability to be a franchise player. That said, so far is there anyone you could unquestionably pick ahead of him looking back at the 2008 Draft?

Lopez and Love.

Speights and Anderson would be close depending on who you are.

Even Anthony Randolph, the biggest project of the draft, is putting up better numbers (per36) than Rose. At least Rose is better than Mayo though.

A friend of a coworker of mine said Griffin was out for the season from the get-go. The whole "back in January" thing was to sell tickets.

Come to think of it, there's a lot of merit to that. Given the nature of the injury, a January return does seem overly optimistic in retrospect.

Has anybody came back from serious knee injury to perform at superstar level?

Both Oden and Griffin are young so I hope they'll come back strong.
