Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Iverson's a ball movement killer and not the best mentor for young players as you saw him in Denver. Those two things alone will make any teams think twice before acquiring him. The teams also know he'll ask for a major role whether it's from starting or bench. I don't think he will be satisfied with Marbury kind of role. At this stage of his career, I think it's best for him to accept the reality and make an adjustment to his playing style, which I think will be a major obstacle. Whoever picks him up, good luck.

AI has a whole thread dedicated to him now? Where's one for Joel Anthony next great one? Actually he deserves 1 on each offense and defence.

Yeah , Iverson before that he'd rather retire if he's playing off the bench .
But if he really wants a Championship he must adjust and be a role player .
His pride really kills him .

Not many teams can bench Iverson, not even Detroit and I don't mean about hurting Iverson ego, it's about the value of Iverson as a player even if he's old. Iverson starts in San Antonio, Phoenix, in Miami Iverson would start, in both LA's Iverson would start, I just don't see Iverson coming from the bench just to let some crappy player get developing time, he's better than 80% of every starting PG/SG in the league, meaning if a team does have a better SG like Miami/Lakers he can play there as the starting PG. Now, Dallas or Houston could make Iverson some room and try to get a run at the championship, try to keep some talent and start mixing up the crew, I consider it would work cause those 2 teams need a guy like Iverson who loves to penetrate, get the charge and shoot some free throws.

They can use Iverson in Dallas if . . . . J-Kidd won't resign this season .
What they need in Dallas is a Center , a Center who can rebound , block shots and can be a low-post threat .
In Houston , I think it'll be hard for him to penetrate because there is a 7"6 Chinese man clogging the lane , you can see this now in Houston particularly Aaron Brooks , before Yao wasn't injured he's always outside .
Houston can use him off the bench , BUT ! like what he said , he'd rather retire than coming off the bench .
They can use him on an Eastern Conference Team , the West is full of talented PG's especially on teams that are Championship contenders . Orlando ? maybe ? they can use him to strengthen their backcourt .

Orlando? No way, at least while I'm still alive. They have Lee and Nelson with decent backups. Howard isn't getting enough touches now, what would happen with AI around?

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Sun May 17, 2009 2:26 am

Well , I said maybe . . .
Yeah , Dwight wants more touches and with A.I. around that ain't gon' happen .
So is there any Playoff Teams that wants or interested in A.I. ?
Maybe back in Philly . Elton , Iggy and A.I. ( Philly's own Version of the Big Three )

Charlotte might be a playoff team next year, so I'm gonna stick with that. Philly would be better if they kept Miller and Lou Williams, that way getting more balanced roster, instead of two low-percentage shooting guards. Iverson would be better in a team with other combo guard, who doesn't need the ball in his hands often.

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Sun May 17, 2009 3:04 am

Charlotte is the best place for him to perform , but he really needs to discipline himself .
In Charlotte he can have the ball as much as he wants to because there's no scorer there . ( Ball Hog )
But he can't win a ring wearing a Bobcats Jersey .

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Sun May 17, 2009 3:42 am

He might be too old to actually change his style of play enough and win a title unless he agrees to less money and bench role. Charlotte is a lot more balanced, they are a bit similar to 04 Pistons in that way. Who knows, they might pull some deals within next 2 years and turn themselves into contender.

You think? :D

There's no denying AI's greatness and his heart. But he needs a team built around HIM, that doesn't mind him dominating the ball(like the 2000-01 Sixers that lost to LA in the Finals).

If he wants a ring he'll be Marbury 2.0 . . .

He needs a 30 win team.

Except for the whole bench thing.

And the late-season awesomeness injection.

Rasheed Wallace is a FA. From North Carolina.
Larry Brown knows how to use Rasheed.
Jordan loves to hire UNC guys.
omg.

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Sun May 17, 2009 8:50 pm

C - Emeka
PF - Rasheed
SF - Wallace
SG - Bell
PG - Iverson
6 . Felton
7. Diaw
Coach : Larry Brown
Wow ! This line-up can make some noise !
Too bad for Detroit if Sheed signs with Charlotte , unless they sign David Lee or Paul Millsap . . .

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Sun May 17, 2009 9:10 pm

I don't know if Sheed would be a starter. He has slipped pretty low recently (Cavs - Pistons series). I would leave Felton and Iverson as starters (both can play either guard spot), and bring Bell of the bench, because he's getting older. And don't forget about Augustin as a backup for PG. I think it's really good for Detroit if Sheed leaves. Who needs a guy who doesn't fight on the court, just plays his minutes. Millsap is more likely than Lee, if Boozer and Okur stays, Utah won't be able to keep him. Lee probably will stay in NY (the main reason why they might let Nate go). My suggestion would be draft DeJuan Blair.

Okay ,
C - Okafor
Pf - Diaw
Sf - Wallace
Sg - Iverson
Pg - Felton
6. Rasheed
7. Bell
8. Augustin
9. Blair
Hmmm , pretty good line-up . . . a well-balanced team . Whoa ! It's like 04 Pistons .
Does this line-up have any chances for a conference title or a championship !?
Don't think so , this line-up will only last for about two years because of age ( Sheed and A.I. ) or less ( If A.I. brings back his own bad attitude ) .

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Mon May 18, 2009 4:30 am

There isn't a single team who could win their conference besides Cleveland, Boston and Orlando, unless blockbuster trade, FA signing or major injury happens. But that might be enough to put up a fight against one of those teams, especially since they're under Larry Brown. And that might make them look a lot better at 2010 off-season when we all know what players will be around. And then - ''where amazing happens''...

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Mon May 18, 2009 12:29 pm

10-11 Season !?
I think A.I. won't last that long , so is Sheed . . .

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Mon May 18, 2009 6:55 pm

They might, if they played less minutes. Sheed has a good shooting touch, AI has always been a warrior, so they might keep themselves in the league till 2010, although Sheed doesn't seem to have enough motivation lately.

MikeMan wrote:Whoa ! It's like 04 Pistons .

Please, stop saying that. It hurts inside.

You have losers in Sheed and Iverson pulling down to-be stars like Blair and Augustin.

The Bobcats are a playoff team when healthy, and once Larry Brown gets over his "OMFG BAD GAME, I NEED TO DNP YOU FOR TWO WEEKS" fetish (won't happen, he's what, 80?) which means of course Jordan/Brown will combine to bring in non-caring team killers (BUT ARE "WINNING" VETERANS!!!) to keep the team in the lottery yet again.

Re: Allen Iverson Thread

Mon May 18, 2009 8:31 pm

Line-Up is like 04 Pistons but not the Mindset !
Charlotte's tradition is losing and maybe it'll still continue even if they sign A.I. and Sheed or draft Blair .
Yeah , Larry Brown can change that but like benji said he has a bad habit .
Scenario :
86-86 All Tied
Last 12 seconds
A.I. shot to early and missed it .
The other team maked a last-second shot .
Larry Brown : What the F*ck were you thinking !?
A.I. : I fluked out , Sorry Coach .
Larry Brown : You'll be DNP'd for two weeks .
A.I. : What !?
Larry Brown and A.I. : ( Arguing ) @#!#E#%$%@#
A.I. :
Larry Brown : :cussing:
:argue:
A.I.'s Decision :
Charlotte's Future : :rimshot:

You mean performing horribly off the bench on a team that is eliminated in the second round? It's slightly closer to a ring than he was this season, I guess.

I don't think he'd have to sacrifice that much but as far as him being able to lead a team in a role he's more accustomed to, that's certainly unlikely.

04 Pistons Possible 09-10 Bobcats
B. Wallace ---------------------- Okafor
R . Wallace ---------------------- R. Wallace
Prince ---------------------------- G. Wallace
Hamilton-------------------------- Iverson
Billups ---------------------------- -Felton
Okur------------------------------- Diaw
? ----------------------------------- Bell
? ------------------------------------ Augustine
Same Coach
The line-up looks the same .
Can you tell me why it's not even close to be like the 04 Pistons .
