do you think it's rigged? i mean they are like the 2nd franchise in history to win the lottery with the worst record, and that also happens in a season when they were acused a zillion times for tanking games. and they looked so confident that they'd get him from the start

hedo, bob...
sorry guys, i share your pain, believe that

toronto can still do good though... there's good players left to pick, just not r.o.y. types

and if vince antonio and lamond stay healthy.... they back in the playoffs next year.

if i was thier coach last year, i woulda shot for the worst record possible just to get that first pick

Pretend I'm the GM of the Celtics and you are the GM of the Pistons or Nuggets.

Denver: (cap space is available if you don't resign J. Howard)

I offer:
Antoine Walker
Vin Baker
20th Pick

For:
3rd Pick

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Detroit: (Cap space open if you don't resign C. Robinson)
Offer:
Antoine Walker
Vin Baker
20th Pick

For:
2nd Pick:
(if some other little salaries must be put in, I will put in future pick)

What would you do?

I'd probably listen to the offers. But Cliff has already been signed to an extension through 2003/2004, or so it was reported a while ago.

Good news for Cavs fans, if there are any left out there. Also good news for the organization who should fill the arena every home game next season. Detroit must be cheering, well not at the moment but after the Nets finish them off they will be. They have either Carmelo or Darko up front with Ben Wallace next year. That will be unstoppable in the East. Denver gets another big man. They don't need to bother with Howard. With Nene, Camby(if he can ever get healthy), Skita and Carmelo/Darko they are on the way to wins. Bad luck for the Raps, but at least they didn't get the 1st pick because of injuries (see Spurs, Duncan). The Raps will still get a good player, it's a pretty strong draft.

Damn Detroit got lucky. Too bad the Raptors fell out of the top 3, I expect them to listen very carefully at trading options. I could see them trade down a bit and try and get Kaman/Barbosa or another point guard together with a player (or a combination of picks).

Word is that Denver might be willing to trade their pick because they are hot for T.J. Ford. So maybe the Raptors can still trade up.

Man I would piss my pants if that were the case  That would be the best thing happen to the Raptors.. depending on the price though.

Just wondering if anybody knows why James wears 23. Is this somekind of sign that Lebron will try to erase the bad memories of that number on the Cavs franchise?

What would you think of Mo Pete and the 4 for the 3 pick? I personally like it.

Sat May 24, 2003 3:54 am

That would be a great deal for the Raptors. I would even trade Murray and the #4 for the #3, we'd get Melo anyway, pushing MoPete to the bench.

Sat May 24, 2003 7:14 am

Murray and the 4th pick for the third pick would be great...but what if Detroit picks Melo? If they do, I'd nix that deal and get Kirk Heinrich or TJ Ford...the Raptors need a solid point guard, and Heinrich's got the size that Ford doesn't to make up for the skills - which aren't too far behind. There's always Bosh, as well...he'd be a solid pick.

Sat May 24, 2003 10:59 am

The Nuggies would be crazy to give away Carmelo or Darko. I guess they already have Nene, Camby and Skita, but I think Melo and Darko will be better than all those guys. Denver is desperate for backcourt help so they may be willing to trade the third pick for Mo Pete and the fourth pick which could get them Ford or Heinrich. Endless opportunities to look into when you're in Denver's situation.
