Sorry to bump this up, but as the all knowing Gerald Green source, I'd like to clarify a few things:
-Gerald's ego has gotten in his way thus far. Last year he thought it was a joke that he was playing in Summer League, he hated going to the D-League, and he felt he was better than he was. It's not exactly surprising as he's had coaches, agents, family all telling him he's the next TMac the past 4 years. Getting released by Houston has seemingly put things back into perspective for him. In all the interviews he's done as of late, he's sounded like a very humbled player. He volunteered to play in the summer league without the Mavs asking him, and signed with the Mavs for about 1/4th the money he'd of made had he signed in Denver because he felt the Mavs were the best fit for his development.
-Gerald didn't understand just how hard he'd have to work to become a good player. A lot of people have said that Gerald hasn't been willing to put in the work, but the issue has been that he hasn't understood just how much work it'd take. All reports out of Dallas are that he's been working his ass off.
I expect Gerald to have a good season and fit in well. He can shoot and he can dunk, which should be a good fit for the type of offense the Mavs want to run.
