According to wikipedia.

A blog (an abridgment of the term web log) is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.

I also, and really, love how having an argument and supporting it is "thinking you're above everyone else."

I wonder how we went from a discussion board being a place for people to make arguments, to where it's just to post your opinion without any challenging the argument behind it, lest that be labeled "attacking" others.

He assumes I do not understand that the NBA as currently run is a business, but he fails to realize I am not arguing for running the NBA as a business but as an ideologically purist league, reality be damned. He is arguing that my argument is flawed because it does not conform to how things are, when it is an argument based in a "perfect" world and is used in contention to those who argue the currently playoff system is "fine." He is also basing his argument on a dubious proposition that it "locks out" half the American market simply because those teams currently suck and aren't making the playoffs anyway.

It only seems like I'm "above everyone else" because nobody else on here wants to even make an argument and defend it. Everybody wants to blog.

I didn't say that the fact that you support your argument means you're "above everyone else". The way you go about it does though. Does saying someone having an "insane idiotic argument" help at all? Pretty sure that just says that you're better than him.
Nice work with the "nobody else on here wants to even make an argument and defend it. Everybody wants to blog". Complements my point.

even as a miami heat fan, i'd say this season is HUGE and awesome! i don't even talk 'bout trading supstars, i like the fact of miami rebuilding and draft opportunities!

Or, instead of using 30% of your posts this year to whine about someone, you could actually look at the other threads and see this.
The way you go about it does though.

Oh yes, the person who bothers to look things up, find support and does not make claims without having support or, without further support or an alternative paradigm, is the arrogant one, not the people who just claim things and then demand you accept it as valid or that you'll "realize" it eventually. And certainly not the "dictation and tone" police.

I apologize to you for thinking that an argument rooted in a massive fallacy was not logically superior to one pointing out that fallacy.

The same case can be said for you. :P

Nah, some of you guys just need to wean yourself off the Kool-Aid...part of the reason I rarely post here anymore.

Amen. Anyway, it's probably going to continue into one of the best offseasons in a long time, too. Lot of marquee players are eligible to opt out, and it could make the summer transactions just as interesting as the blockbusters we've seen thus far this year.

Why do I have the feeling that the statement "get a life" will now be used to close out arguments?

You looked up that is it 30%? Well done. You assume I don't read threads? I do, every day, mainly to get news about the league, and I have my opinions people's posts and post when I feel like it.

I don't have a problem with you looking things up. That had nothing to do with you being arrogant.

I apologize to you for thinking that an argument rooted in a massive fallacy was not logically superior to one pointing out that fallacy.

Apology accepted.

Why would you ever use the NLSC to get news. Just go straight to RealGM since that's where everyone posts it from in the first place.

Just about all I do in NBA Talk is look things up and post the findings, to undermine the myths, lies and errors of others. You decided I was arrogant and used a valuable post to say so, so the only conclusion is that you find that to be arrogant. I do not preface statements with extra language, because it should be assumed that all statements I make are subjective with objective desires. In this case, it was using common and accurate language to describe something that makes me "arrogant."

Arrogance is declaring things, claiming others don't have knowledge if they disagree, and then demanding they accept (or "realize") your argument.

Get a life.

I humbly demand that you retract your argument and agree with the majority for you are blatantly wrong therefore you are stupendously stupid.
What a loser.
Get a life.
Get laid.

lol, I have a great life thanks.

Even if others are correct you won't let it pass anyway so I really don't care. I just think you should probably change your attitude a bit and that's my opinion. I don't really care what you think about it, it's your problem. Saying people's ideas are idiotic is not constructive at all. I'm not sure how you don't see that?

I never said you were arrogant. I said the way you go about your argument was like you were above everyone else. Even if it is researched thoroughly, I don't really give a crap. If you're right, you're right and that's great. But that doesn't mean you're above others.

Anyway, doesn't really affect me. But it could others, I dunno?

I don't have anything against you and I might be completely misconstruing things, but thats the way it comes across to me.

An attitude more like that perhaps.

I don't even really know what I meant there so you can probably scrap that...lol

Then what the hell is the sense of you and benji's arguments?

It's like an atheist trying to convince others that there is no god.

Hmmm...

Eh? I find it hard to believe I would argue against something "correct" and continue to do so perpetually...
Saying people's ideas are idiotic is not constructive at all.

But using all your recent posts to whine about how someone is arrogant...
I just think you should probably change your attitude a bit and ... I don't really care what you think about it, it's your problem.

Hmmm...
I never said you were arrogant. I said the way you go about your argument was like you were above everyone else.

Oh, I get it now, you didn't say I was arrogant, you said I was haughy, imperious, brazen or making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights.
Even if it is researched thoroughly, I don't really give a crap. If you're right, you're right and that's great. But that doesn't mean you're above others. ... but thats the way it comes across to me.

So, because when you read my posts, I come across as an ubermensch in your eyes, it's my fault? My problem?
I really don't care ... I don't really care what you think about it ... I don't really give a crap ... Anyway, doesn't really affect me ... I don't have anything against you ... I dunno?

Strange way to go about it for not caring so much. Oh, and...

Get a life.

Sun Apr 06, 2008 11:54 am

lol, once again. I have a really good life. I just don't think you get it.

Sun Apr 06, 2008 12:42 pm

Getting back to the topic at hand, what are some of the games so far that stand out this season? The Cavs/Blazers game a couple of months back that saw LeBron take over in the final minutes and make the game winning layup is one of the first on my mind.

Well hey, I can only take so many threads that start with a copy-pasted RealGM article, then devolve into a bunch of people restating the worthless opinions of various sportswriters as their own. They are not the sole arbiters of critical thought regarding sports.

And there are a lot of people on here who have somehow developed the ability to write paragraphs upon paragraphs about an NBA-related subject without ever expressing an actual opinion. It's just bizarro-land on tis forum as far as I can tell.

I'm interested in what you call these opinionless posts.

If the post contained paragraphs upon paragraphs about a subject surely there's an opinion in that even if that opinion is borrowed/plagiarized from others, which was just repeated by the poster.
Even paragraphs upon paragraphs of coherent nonsense still counts as opinion, albeit a worthless one (opinion).

Correct me if I'm ignorant here.
