Odd things you've noticed in the NBA..

i don't like this new idea of putting a mic on the coaches during espn telecasts

the coaches know they have the mic on so they hold back and we end up with these odd & uncomfortable audio bits

personally they should just broadcast all the games on tnt. they have the volume turned up on everything so you can hear everything being said- from a coach saying what the fuck was that call to a player saying get that shit out of here after a block... its awesome

it is awkward, but I like both of them....Bill Walton with all his stupid comments....Stephen A. Smith goes on his rants....obviously Barkley is my favourite....but good to see....but yep, strange pairing though I must admit....

It really gets awkward when Walton starts getting upset that Stephen A is disagreeing with him. Perhaps they're hoping he'll snap and scream "Fuck you, I'm a Hall of Famer!" before punching Stephen A in the head and storming off the set; that'd be pretty memorable. They definitely don't have chemistry comparable to Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley.

I've noticed that too; it's a sharp contrast from the flashy colors and logos of the 90's with pictures on the jersey's n' shit. I figure its fashion and this is the 00's style. The bright colors will probably make a resergence next decade.


On another note: The nba is really pushing this fucking "NBA Cares" shit in our faces. IS it charity or is it propoganda so david stern can take over the world? I can't wait to find out.

i guess the whole NBA Cares is supposed to generate some positive publicity after all the recent rapes/fights/shootings/wife beatdowns etc

What loyalty is there on the team's side though? Unless you're fortunate enough to have a no-trade clause or early Bird rights as Devean George does, you can potentially be traded to any team in the league if your team believes it can get a good deal. Don't get me wrong, I admire loyalty and selflessness as much as the next person but at some point, everyone has to look out for themselves and their families.

Perhaps it's not so much that players ask to be traded because that's always happened, but more about the way in which some players go about lobbying for a trade, blasting their team through the media, playing selfishly or not bothering to put in the effort until their demands are met.

Back in the day it was more behind closed doors. Whats wrong with the trade demands is how easy it is for players to get their word out to the public through the media (Youtube, newspapers, ESPN). Not that there is anything wrong with venting frustration, but it just puts the team with the player on their roster in a bad spot (Raptors with VC).
