Since I brought up that series though, there's another noteworthy incident that sticks out in my mind. During one of the games, Kevin Willis (then of the Hawks) turned to box out but threw a rather flagrant elbow at Scott Williams that connected. Ten years later in the Spurs/Suns first round series of 2003, a very similar incident took place with Willis (now with the Spurs) once again catching Williams with a flagrant elbow after turning to box out.
Ultimately both were minor incidents that didn't affect the outcome of the series but I found it an interesting coincidence nevertheless since they were so similar and involved the same two players in a first round series that featured the eventual NBA champion. Of course, that doesn't really prove anything except perhaps that Kevin Willis was prone to dirty plays or just didn't like Scott Williams (or both).
