Yes, if a player is signed anytime before the end of the regular season, they should be eligible to be on the playoff roster.
But...
There is a deadline for players to be eligible for the playoff roster. If a player does not sign with a team before a certain date (we've established that date is in early March) he is not eligible by league rules to play in the playoffs.
I don't dispute it isn't fair to have a deadline for eligibility, but the fact of the matter is that there is one in place.

I'm not saying there's not a deadline, I agree there's one. What I'm saying is at the time the team goes to the playoffs, they have the roster already with the players qualified to be in the playoffs. Like I said, the rules are related, since you can only sign players after that deadline just for 10 days, the rest of your roster is ready for the playoffs.

Actually...I already answered the question...the player has to be released prior to March 1st...

Ah, that's where I misunderstood. I thought the deadline was related to signing with the new team, rather than being released by the former team.
