Yeah i will partly agree that the Big man spot isnt too great. But if we drafted Brewer and didnt make any other changes to the roster, the starting big men would be okay. You would have Aldridge playing C and Randolph at PF with Brewer at SF.
Not too bad IMO. But definately need some changes on the bench. Get rid of Miles, Przybilla, LaFrentz and Magloire! We might be able to get a decent player for them. But i think the team looks very solid and will develop into a championship team! Unlike the Pistons, who are down-hill from here
Mon May 07, 2007 9:44 pm
lol ur a comedian scoop

I'm preety sure the pistons are a good chance to win the championship this year unlike Portland so shut yah gob lol but anyway thats off topic
Get rid of Miles, Przybilla, LaFrentz and Magloire!
I think if they drafted brewer then traded these three for a taleneted big man PF or C then Aldridge could develop under them and Portland could compete with great teams next season i also think if the Blazers made some moves this is what there team could look like:
C- Kaman/Bogut/Bynum sum1 like that then Aldrige to keep coming through
PF- Randolph with Aldrige playing he's bench minutes
SF- Brewer and Udoka a good young combo
SG- Roy
Pg- Jack and Rodriguz
Thats what i think would be a great Blazers team
Mon May 07, 2007 9:50 pm
Bogut and Bynum wouldnt be going anywhere.. I'd imagine LAC wouldnt move Kaman either.. Considering they have Randolph, they wouldnt really need a Bogut/Bynum type, they need a more offensively capable Pryzbilla.. Which is what Magloire should have done, but he was disappointing.. Plus any trade that brings Bogut or Bynum here would cut down Aldridge's minutes, and they need to be developing him by playing him, not benching him..
Mon May 07, 2007 9:51 pm
3PK, Haha you only have the 1 player in the SG position. Is Roy going to play all of the minutes???
I think Aldridge should start next season at the C position. He is a terrific player! and has the Potential to be a Duncan/Garnett player. that might be a little bit exagerration, but he will be a champion! and is already good enough to start with the Blazers now.
Take Brewer in the draft though! He would be a great choice! And then hope that Aaron Brooks drops so that we can get him in the 2nd round, because he is the next Gilbert Arenas!

Thats all true and very ligitiment but can Aldridge do it all on he's own and i no you'll say no magloire will help him out but we want players that will perform on this team don't we
I think aldridge is a great player but with 1 year of NBA experiance you can't be epected to play a very important role IMO

I like the sounds of that
P.S what i'm saying might be bogus because i don't no too much about the Blazers and i'm just talking from an outsiders poin of view
Mon May 07, 2007 11:06 pm
I'm not saying dont trade Magloire, i'm saying don't trade him for a Bogut/Bynum type player who is going take away his minutes.. I don't see any point in trading for a guy like that (unless a veteran to provide some bench-relief), unless your going to move Aldridge in the deal. You've got your future big man in LaMarcus, give him the time to develop before you bring in another young up and comer, and give him doubt that the team might move in another direction..
I know Aldridge only has the 1 season under his belt, and so does the Blazers front office.. They arent going to go into the offseason expecting him to post Shaq-esque numbers in his 2nd season.. They arent going to expect him to do it all on his own, he's got Zach Randolph standing next to him (one of the better forwards of the season), and thats why they're drafting guys like Brandon Roy - so he doesnt have too..
Besides, its not like the Blazers are thinking Championship in the next season or two, this is a team who is in the middle of a rebuilding phase, you've got to give the players your banking your future on (Aldridge, Roy + Randolph) the time to develop.. The only trades they need to be making are low-key for guys with high work ethic that can get the job done..
Thats just my opinion too, im not a Blazers fan either

I'm sure you all remember Blazers saying that they want to make a move on Rashard Lewis....that would fil the SF spot, although i think Travis Outlaw can turn out real well.
Blazers biggest need right now is a PG, then C.
Tue May 08, 2007 1:10 am
i think that we should trade Magloire, LaFrentz, D-Miles, Przybilla for draft picks in the offseason or starting now.. Rashard is definitely going to Portland since he doesnt wanna be in Seattle no more.. But there are a lot of teams that will chase him.. aka the Charlotte Bobcats who has a lot of room for a Rashard Lewis salary.. Nonetheless, they still should find a way to trade those mentioned up there... As they only eat up cap space and dont help the team at all.. I think no one wud opt for Miles as there are a lot more valuable and cheaper players of his caliber..
LaFrentz is also a useless one for other teams.. He is too slow and teams right now pursue for PF-C with Camby like caliber since its now a fad for teams to have a big man who both defend and run the floor well with or without offense as long as its a quick big man.. teams would take him.. and Lafrentz isnt one of em.. along with Magloire.. who is also useless for other teams as there are a number of good PF-C in the draft..
As for Przybilla.. he cud be kept because he is a running big man who loves to play defense.. but he always has lackluster performances each game.. he just tends to be lazy..
Tue May 08, 2007 5:35 pm

You just contradicted yourself.. You said hes definately going to Portland, but others might get him?
Tue May 08, 2007 6:34 pm
Yeh maybe it would be a good idea to bring a veteran to Portland as well as Lewis in a trade possible even 3 way to bring Lewis and a bench relieving veteran then deal Miles, Magloire and LaFrentz to other teams if that makes sense
Tue May 08, 2007 8:37 pm
If we trade Przybilla, Miles, Magloire and LaFrentz for draft picks in the upcoming draft, it will need to be a 1st round i think because se already have about 4 picks in the second round

but it will be hard to get a 1st rounder with the players that we offer.
Also Rashard wouldnt be a bad pick-up, even though i dont like him

but would definately help. I just hope that he wouldnt decide to be a ball hog and take the good stats that Roy and Randolph have been getting....
Tue May 08, 2007 9:27 pm
Well, I don't know the specifics about the Portland situation, but I like what I'm seeing with the team. There are young players chipping in Roy and Aldridge. And Outlaw isn't that old either. Even Randolph isn't that old. So I basically see these guys as the core of the team and a team that just needs more experience to play better. If these guys dedicate themselves to training this summer, they could be edging closer to that play-off border...
But this is what I see... Portland has pieces that aren't used and basically should not use. If there are any expiring contracts in the LaFrentz, Miles, Pryzbilla and Magloire section, they shouldn't just go trading them away. These are all players that have at one point in the not so distant past have had an effective game, but they are now pretty worthless, in trade value that is. I don't know if some of these guys are NBA level anymore.
I think that this young core should be held together and only try to find some locker room leaders and energy players around them and not go for the "star" player this summer... And let the young core mature and see what they have this time next spring.
If Portland is trading this summer, I really hope that they don't bring in someone to "save" the franchise, since there is a healthy foundation there now. And the tradable assets aren't that valuable, so just letting guys like LaFrentz and Miles run out of their contracts wouldn't exactly be a disaster.
Package players and second round pick (picks) to move up to get 2 first round picks and maybe get a locker room energy guy to add too. Pryzbilla and Miles have missed the entire season and they should be coming back, also Magloire isn't that bad either...
To summarize this... If trading takes away playing time from the young core that the Blazers have, I don't think they should go for it... If a trade allows the team to get a good complimentary player to add to the young core, they should go for it... And find playing time for that Rodriguez guy... I'd like to see him average 12 assists next season. Since he already did average 3.3 in 13 minutes of action...
Don't blow up the team and don't make the mistake of tying up the financial end this summer so the up-and-coming youngsters can be signed in a couple of years.

Metsis, Well said!
Yeah i love how they are at the moment and are in a great position for some developing and one of the better teams in the league in a few years time. No trades this offseason, because i would like to see how the team develops over this off-season.
Anyway, i really think that Blazers are a small chance of playoffs next season. I have a lot of faith in them

Please Portland! Improve next season.....
Tue May 08, 2007 9:49 pm
Well you both have awsum points but it might be a bit hopeful to say playoffs net year, if they get rid of sum useless players and add a veteran then i think with another good draft pick they're a good side
Mon May 14, 2007 6:42 pm
I'm going to try and re-re start this so lets get a topic, where do you think Portland will finishe next year
Mon May 14, 2007 7:33 pm
Nice to see you care about this topic 3PK
I think we will be only a few games out of the playoffs. I expect them to win about 40 games....
Cant wait for the draft lottery! I will be at school, so i will have to tape it and watch it when i get home
Mon May 14, 2007 9:58 pm
I was really hoping for a Martell Webster break out during the 06-07 season, but I guess I was wrong. I'm really rooting for this guy and hopefully he won't turn out to be a disappointment because right now it looks like they would've been better off taking Green.
Mon May 14, 2007 10:01 pm
They definately look to be better off taking Green right now. But u never know, the long run might be better for Webster.
By the way
Its_asdf, I love anchorman! Nice quote also

60% of the time it works everytime. Haha pissa!
Soz for being off-topic
Tue May 15, 2007 12:33 am
The thing about Webster is that he relies too heavily on jumpshooting even though he's been shooting quite poorly from the field. He needs to learn how to use his body and develop some sort of inside game to take advantage of his physical gifts, although he is somewhat lacking in terms of his leaping ability, speed and quickness.
I've heard time and time again that Webster is a class-act and the type of hard worker you'd want to bank your franchise around, but its a shame he hasn't shown any major signs yet because I really want the Blazers to dump Miles and Randolph and develop Webster, Roy, Aldridge and possibly Outlaw if they decide to keep him.
Edit: Anchorman is my all-time favourite movie, it's simply so ridiculous and even the idea of having the story revolve around anchormen is simply random comedy at its best.
Tue May 15, 2007 7:35 pm
Yeh i agree Webster is a all shooting and he is pretty much just payed to shoot and the fact is he's no Peja or Miller yet although if he turns outto be that good it should be interesting
Although Webster did come out of high school so in time he might develop to a great player, i hope not coz i don't even like blazer but anyway he might

No.
POR #1
SEA #2
ATL #3

Lucky bastards. Have fun with Oden. Only benefit, as a Bucks fan, is he has gone out West.
Is there any chance you take Durant? You do have Pryz and Aldridge at the 5, and I can't see Miles ever coming back to play the 3. So Durant would fit well. I think it's 90% that they take Oden.
Wed May 23, 2007 11:40 am
Portland now reminds me of the Baby Bulls.
They'll likely finish with 40 wins next year. The next couple of years after that, the sky is the limit. They have the coach to take them (just like Scott Skiles, tough minded) and now it appears both the front court and the backcourt, and with some aquisitions, a solid bench.
I like the Blazers, and I think the fans deserve a good team especially after the joke which was the team in the early 2000s.
Wed May 23, 2007 11:45 am
if i was portland i would actually deal with seattle and swap the picks. get durant who would be a better fit and some extra draft picks outa the deal. i am positive that seattle would give up atleast next years first pick to swap with portland this season.
