Did anyone hear Vince Carter saying Kobe's 81 was not good for the kids (or the game) because it doesnt represent the true team nature of the sport (or something of the sort). Last time I checked Carter isnt much different from Kobe and was enjoying life ever since his team gave him the red light to shoot as much as he likes. I wonder what he would have done had he gotten the opportunity. Even David Thompson (the guy who previously had second highest) got on his case. It seems as though they dont want anyone to break these records. Why not just let Kobe do what he does best----score the ball.

You rambling on about Shaq being MVP plays no role given the picture of him crying was whilst Shaq was still around & the three rings came whilst Shaq was still around.

There are so many NBA Champions that you can apply this statement to. Are you trying to discredit his championship rings? Isnt it funny when Shaqs the MVP, he gets all the credit. But when Kobe is playing well, he's hurting his "great" role playing teamates? How about giving Kobe credit, he was the reason the Lakers beat Sacramento in 2002, and he was just as valuable as shaq in their playoff run in 2001.

Then in 2001, he carries alot of the offensive load becuase Rice was traded, and he takes on the added leadership, gets another ring, and gets criticised again.

Then Shaq decides to demand a trade becuase he isnt getting the same amount of touches as before? You have to work not only to get those looks, but to keep them. You cant expect to just stay on top of the hill becuase you got there once. You have to be the best. So shaq gets traded (mainly becuase of his comments todards team owner jerry buss in a pre season game; "pay me motherfucker"), and yet Kobe is percieved to be the one who caused it? Whatever.

Kobe is now 27 yrs old, MJ didn't win a championship until he was 29. At the start of his career MJ was regarded as merely a dunker. Basically MJ was regarded as being not so unlike clyde drexler, generally also regarded as a ballhog. Also, at that time there were rumors circulating that it was MJ who caused craig hodges (3pt champ) and charles oakley (yep, the guy whom ben wallace takes after, the reason why ben wallace even has an nba career) , both of them to split. Kobe is one of the most spectacular shooting guards to come to the league, VC can't defend like him, T-Mac can't pass like he does.

I am still skeptical about Kobe's type of play, cause I have not seen much of his games lately, but i still would give him the benefit of the doubt. Does anybody here doubt that after kobe's career is through, he'll be a hall of famer?

I don't like Kobe, I never have. Ask Jae, Andrew or anyone else thats still around from the old boards. However, I love basketball, and I don't allow my dislike of a player to cloud my judgement. Thats what a true fan does. Tha game always comes first.

Yeah, becuase Wade carried them there. Shaq missed games 3 and 4 in washington, and yet the Heat still won both games. Then they were up 3-2 with a healthy wade, then Wade got injured and the Heat dropped both games with Shaq as the goto guy for Miami. And look at who Shaq played alongside. Imagine if the shoe was on the other foot. Imagine if Kobe was traded to minnesota to play alongside KG, and Malone and Payton and Fisher and Jackson left, and all the help the lakers got shaq was Spree and Mark Madsen.
