True, but it comes down to the statistician's point of view, at least in part. After all, a skilled shooter should be able to make an intentional miss look like a legitimate attempt at the basket, while placing it in a position to snare the rebound...though I suppose given the circumstances, the NBA might overrule it on principle since the strategy would be pretty transparent.
