when oscar played people were not jacking up long range shots nearly every trip down the court causing longer rebounds. to me this is not even a question.

same logic goes for most stats people use in other VS debates.

But they were jacking shots from 15 feet in the 60's, afaik. That would still inflate their rebound numbers as shown by Wilt and Bill Russell grabbing 20-50 boards a night.

That's a 30 possession difference. Big, BIG difference between the past era and today.
Even the league average FGA in that 60s season had 1500 more than this season.
