Pretty amazing how Hakeem won two despite having nobody great around him most of the time....

It is interesting to see who did the most with the least amount of star talent around them, and vice versa.

For one season at least....
Winning title with the least amount of talent around them for me would either be Dirk or Hakeem, not too sure about pre 80s but those championship teams were all stacked anyways
No title I'll have to go with Allen Iverson...he single handedly took that talentless Sixers squad to the finals and handed the unstoppable Lakers their lone loss in the 01 playoffs.
Did the least with the most talent around them? 07 Dirk, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, 11 Lebron. Relative of course, since aside from Dirk these guys all made it to the finals where they then "flopped" despite having stacked rosters.

time were different back then. players didnt all group up to form these super teams so you didnt need a ton around you. look at the first bulls 3 peat. they had jordan and pippen for sure and grant was a pretty good role player but that team was mostly trash. they were made better from being able to play with jordan and pippen. man i miss those days, the nba now is fucking stupid as hell.

I'd give some more credit to the likes of Bill Cartwright (an All-Star before joining the Bulls), B.J. Armstrong and John Paxson, and a couple of other players had reasonably solid and lengthy careers as dependable role players, but yeah, they weren't exactly stacked. Same goes for the second three-peat, with a core rotation that included Bill Wennington and Jud Buechler; dependable players when not asked to do anything more than they were capable of, but far from stars.

yeah, just look at the 1980's Celtics, Lakers and Sixers
lol

Reggie Miller could have been a no stranger in all time great debates if he had won couple rings. (Similarly would we still hold Glyde the Drexler in such high regard if he didnt have luck to play alongside Olajuwon?)
Reggie is merely remembered as a Knicks killer. What if the Pacers were able to pair him up with somebody better than Rik Smits or if he went somewhere else with better talents?

Agreed, I miss the 90s and early 00s as well. Good competitive basketball, no softies teaming up and holding hands before games with the opponents. I see those things nowadays and it makes me sick

those teams were not put together is nearly the same manner. now if bird and magic teamed up instead of playing each other you might have a point. imagine if barkley said fuck it i can beat jordan so i will play on the bulls.
