D'Amphony sucks. Like Sir Charles said, his style is 'sissyball', and doesn't win championships. Stop with the fucking threes and take the damn ball to the hoop!!

I'm hoping the Knicks bomb out, so his fraud ass will get fired.

Amare doesn't even like to play C.

Yeah, also he was drafted as a PF. Isn't it?

When the shots are falling, D'Antoni's offense looks like an unstoppable juggernaut; we've got to give him that. The game against the Bulls the other week is a good example and they even played some decent defense at times in that one. However, without Steve Nash as his floor general and some of the other pieces he had in Phoenix, he's not making it work and as such it's looking pretty bleak for him right now.

But that it - when the shots fall. Your offense won't be there every night, then what?

Don't like D'Amphony's soft style, never did. He's a gimmick coach, like Don Nelson. You want to go deep in the playoffs, you have to play tough, hard-nosed defense, and work the offense from the inside-out. Give me a coach like Popovich anyday.

And where the fuck is Anthony Randolph? Why is he in D'Amphony's doghouse?

Carmelo Anthony quotes on D'Amphony's system;

“You’re up and down, fast-paced and you get extra possessions in the game,” he said. “On the flip side, I’ve been on teams where we weren’t known for our defense, and that’s not something I want to ever deal with again.”

He can't shoot threes.

Absolutely, if the shots or falling and/or he doesn't have a roster that can pour in the points night after night, he's not winning 50+ games and coming within a couple of wins of the NBA Finals and as a result, his system doesn't look at all stellar.

That's why you have to make an attempt to play SOME defense. It'll keep you in games.

And I'm so ticked at the Randolph situation. How's this young cat supposed to develop?

Under D'Antoni's system, make him learn how to shoot threes.

From his news and notes page on Yahoo! NBA:

Nov 18 F Anthony Randolph was expected to be a contributing piece of the rotation, but after several erratic performances, he found himself left on the bench as a DNP-Coach's Decision. Don Nelson quickly lost patience with the raw 21-year-old forward in Golden State and it appears Mike D'Antoni has reached the same frustration level. Randolph has looked confused on the court and admitted he doesn't really know where he fits in the offense. He did not appear happy about being benched, but resisted complaining. "We got the win," he said. "That's all that matters."

For Amare's sake, Anthony Randolph's sake, and Raymond Felton's sake, GYFS D'Antoni.

What would D'Antoni have done with Shaq or Ben Wallace?

Knicks are off to their best start in ten years. Felton and Amar'e are finally getting the pick-and-roll to work.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

PHX and NYK records are almost identical. Hoping Nash'd get moved to a contender soon.

It'd be awesome if Chris Pau/Melo joins the Knicks next year.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Tue Dec 07, 2010 10:14 am

They are 9-1 through the last 10 games. Honestly I think the biggest difference between last year and this year is the fact that Amar'e and Raymond are taking over the locker room and not letting this team lose. I love this.

I'm convinced this team will never defend under D'antoni, so I might as well hope that they outscore every other team in the NBA and do something in the playoffs since that is the only thing I can hope for.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

They're 18th in the league in defensive rating after a false start to the season, and with their starting/best center missing several games.

At least they're beating the teams they should beat. Schedule gets tougher after Denver on Sunday.

I'd agree with this. They're had a bit of a cupcake schedule to open the season. It only gets tougher from here.

Boston, Miami(twice), Oklahoma City, Chicago and Orlando during an 18-day stretch.

Yep, I'd expect Knicks to be back hovering around .500 after that stretch, which given their roster makeup & coach is probably about right.

Walsh high on assistant GM Houston

Allan Houston was upgraded to assistant general manager after recently signing a two-year contract to remain in the Knicks' front office. Houston previously worked under the title of special assistant to the president after being appointed by Donnie Walsh on Nov. 7, 2008.

"It goes back to what I said when I first gave him the job; I think he's a great candidate to become a GM someday,'' Walsh told Newsday in a phone interview before last night's game against the Timberwolves.

The speculation is that Houston, 39, one day will be GM of this franchise. Walsh, who currently holds that title along with team president, has one year left on his contract, plus a team option for 2011-12 that must be picked up in April.

Houston had the option to sign for three years but decided to take two years to mirror Walsh's deal. If Walsh retires at the end of his contract, Houston undoubtedly will be a candidate to run the team, but others likely also will be considered.

Others meaning Isiah Thomas. Houston is unproven in the role but I were a Knicks fan I'd absolutely prefer them to take that chance before giving any consideration to bringing Thomas back.

Unfortunately, Brain-Dead Dolan will have a say in this.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Well the Knicks stretch of easy games ends tomorrow versus the Wizards... Then they got Denver, Boston, and Miami coming up in the next week.

Then in January they have 10 games against teams that made the playoffs last year. 5 against teams who didn't.

February get's kind of easy again. Playing the Mavs, Lakers, and Heat... But besides that the Hawks aren't what they used to be and the Bucks haven't gotten their game together this year.

March... We face the Magic 3 times, Boston once, and the Jazz and Mavs once... Those are the toughest games that month.

April... Play 7 games that month, most fairly easy except the fact that we end the season on a back to back against the Bulls and Celtics. Chances are we can beat the Celtics because they will probably have clinched the 1 seed in the East by the last the game of the season..

My prediction is still 45-37.
