He can't shoot threes.

To be fair though, Amar'e hasn't really had any issues with his knees that I can recall since missing almost all of the 2006 season following his surgery. Since then, he's only missed more than three games in a season once and that was due to a freak eye injury.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Not his knees you should be worried about, more like his inability to rebound the basketball despite being a big man.

Of course, he'll look like Dennis Rodman compared to Eddy Curry.

Walsh is no dummy. I'm sure he'll get a rebounder/defensive specialist at the 5 spot.

...along with...
Ronny Turiaf or swingman Kelenna Azubuike, and an expiring contract such as forward Vladimir Radmanovic.

"Isiah Thomas being taken out of mothballs by James Dolan seems to indicate that the boss lost confidence in Walsh."

This franchise is such a joke with Dolan in charge. Get ready for another decade of mediocrity.

current Florida International coach, who is in line to bank $47 million from Camp Cablevision, was dispatched to Akron on Wednesday to meet with James' people in a last-ditch attempt to woo LeBron to New York.

Isiah Thomas trying to convince James, lol. Dolan must have lost his marbles.

As much as I like Lee & wish him best in Oakland, this is probably about as good as Knicks could've done out of trading him. Randolph's career might be ready to take off & the other guys are solid bench role players, so not a bad deal. They need to get a decent point guard in though. Hopefully they can get Tony Parker in town.

If they were to get Kevin Pritchard, the future is starting to look a whole lot brighter. He is a shrewd operator, which is exactly what the Knicks need after last 10-15 years of mismanagement.

Dolan never had any marbles to begin with. He's nothing but a spoiled, rich man's brat who was given control of a franchise and ran it into the ground.

Knicks are a Luke Ridnour or Raymond Felton away from the #7 seed imo. They may not have gotten LeBron, but on the bright side, they also "failed" to get Joe Johnson, and managed to converted David Lee into the next KG in Anthony Randolph.

I think you spoke too soon Jeffx:
A reunion between Isiah Thomas and the New York Knicks is possible, according to Donnie Walsh.

Walsh, the Knicks' president, said Thomas will be on his list of candidates if he is given the go-ahead to hire a general manager.

"With other people, yes, Isiah would be under consideration from me," Walsh said in a telephone interview Saturday. "But that's a situation the owner would have to be involved in."

Walsh said he hasn't hired a general manager for financial reasons. If Knicks owner James Dolan allows it, he said he will eventually do so. Walsh, 69, also said reports of his imminent retirement are "totally off-base" and that he has no plans to step down.

There is little question that Dolan would be willing to consider rehiring Thomas, who served as the club's president and eventually head coach for 4½ years. The two have maintained a close relationship since Thomas was fired by the Knicks in April 2008.

Knicks sign Timofey Mozgov to a 3-year $9-10M offer. Saw him last year during the EC, was rather impressed by him. This could potentially be high risk/high reward type of deal. I'm starting to like the new Knicks, sans Amar'e. (Don't have a direct link)

So I guess things aren't working out at Florida International?

Re: The Knicks Thread....

I saw that story this morning Andrew, and I'm still fuming over it. Dolan is putting pressure on Walsh to bring Isiah back in the organization. If Isiah becomes GM, I'm done with the Knicks until Dolan sells the team. Walsh spent the last two years cleaning up Isiah's mess, but Dolan wants him back??????????

Re: The Knicks Thread....

If Walsh is still the one calling the shots then maybe it won't be so bad; it'll still look like an incredibly foolish move, but perhaps at least won't be quite as damaging.

No, Dolan calls the shots(he wouldn't let Walsh hire Chris Mullin). He still consults Isiah on basketball matters. He's the Al Davis of the NBA.

We're doomed.

In that case, I agree. Baffling move from both a basketball and PR standpoint.
