Joel Anthony's more valuable to the Heat.

No, other than D-Wade, Bosh, and Bron, Joel Anthony is the most important player to the Heat. Screw everyone else.

Probably means they're not going to match the offer sheet for Redick.

Done, I added "Miami" and "Ever":

Posted elsewhere, but Ilgauskas is heading to Miami.

A good signing by the Heat as they shape the roster around their new big three. I wonder if we can expect another letter from Gilbert.

The Nuggets have agreed to terms with Al Harrington on a five-year, $34 million contract.

The Mavericks were also pursuing Harrington.

The Cavaliers have signed restricted free-agent Kyle Lowry to a four-year, $24 million offer sheet, according to a league source.

Because of Lowry's restricted status, the Rockets will have seven days to match

Guess the owners are going to give the players association everything they want next year since the salaries aren't "out of control."

Ridnour-Twolves 4 year/16 Mil Not a bad price i guess.

Curious what they're doing with yet another PG

Clippers ponder pursuing McGrady

The Bulls have apparently also showed interest. I'd be OK with that for the veteran's minimum, that'd make him a fairly low risk short term solution.

Re: 2010 Free Agency Discussion Thread

Thu Jul 15, 2010 12:13 pm

He could be an alright addition to the Bulls if he takes his ego and expectations and somehow makes them realistic. They really don't have a "true" shooting guard worth starting, so if they're going that direction than it may not be a bad idea to stick McGrady in there.

The Timberwolves are in the same echelon as the Clippers and Warriors these days. David Kahn's gotta be the worst GM in the NBA. First he takes a role player over the best prospect in the draft because they already had Darko at Center. Then he traded a draft steal in Babbitt for an overpaid draft bust (hate to say it) in Webster. Finally, after a summer of choosing positional needs over talent ("If we just get a decent small forward, we can get over that 25 win hump"), they signed Fluke Ridnour for $16 mil to be a third string shooting guard.

Its a good thing the Wolves don't have any fans.

They have been shopping Sessions since the trade deadline. There was a rumor yesterday that the Bobcats are considering it.

His and Ridnour's contracts are identical oddly enough.

Shaun Livingston signs for 2 years with the Bobcats

Good move I think. He proved towards the end of last year that he can still be a handy contributor

I think to "still be" something you had to be that thing in the first place.

Not true. Riot makes at least one.

Thu Jul 15, 2010 6:33 pm

The signing of Ridnour isn't that bad. Lamrock's as always way too critical. I've never seen any deal you did like ;)

Ridnour is the perfect complementary guard to Jonny Flynn. They should get rid of Sessions though.

Re: 2010 Free Agency Discussion Thread

Thu Jul 15, 2010 6:39 pm

Indeed, the one off-season move I did like (the Craptors somehow dumping Turkoglu for Barbosa) messes up my association story plans. Ridnour will have a similar role as he did in Milwaukee, being the back-up that's better than the starter (though at least Jennings has upside and plays D) but his numbers will probably fall like Sessions' did, being on such a bad team.

It looked like he might be bound for the Lakers for a while there, I remember reading that Kobe was recruiting him. Perhaps that was inaccurate or the Lakers didn't make a good enough offer for him. Solid pickup since they're apparently not matching Matthews' offer sheet.

I think Lakers offered them 1.8 mill a year.

Not exactly a fan, but they are my favourite Western team.
