Frustrating game for a Laker fan. Great comeback effort though, lot of heart.
Great game by the Celtics, impressive performance by Powe...also a lot of heart for a guy his size.
Fun series, fun series.
To LA they go.
Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:34 am
This series is comming along just the way I said it would....a classic that will go 7 games. Expect the celtics to get one in LA and expect LA to get one in Boston.
Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:48 am
Vujacic is the MAN!
That is all.
Tue Jun 10, 2008 4:57 am
its all about game 3 baby, we get that one and i can start to seriously consider the possibility of a celtic celebration on the lakers court
Tue Jun 10, 2008 5:45 am
Sauru, agree. If they win that, they're done with the Lakers. Unless Kobe takes some bills.
Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:58 am
Leon Powe!
Who would have known, eh?
So far the MVP has been Paul Pierce. KG gets it done defensively, but was only 1-6 in the fourth in game #1.
I think this will be shorter then 7, but definitely won be a sweep.

I hope this rule gets passed
Post Falls (AP) -- Reports from Boston suggest that there may be a new rule to discuss when the NBA Rules Committee holds its annual meeting this upcoming offseason. Supposedly, David Stern and Co will be reviewing the possibility of adding another NBA rule; this one will be known as the Paul Pierce Rule.
Although not finalized, the rule will likely state that anytime a player goes in down in agony with a supposed injury, roles and spasms uncontrollably on the floor for at least 3 minutes or more, has to be carried off the court by two players while he puts an elbow over his face to hide the fact that he is crying, and proceeds to be placed in a wheelchair and escorted back to the locker room - that same player must remain in that locker room for a minimum of 10 minutes and has to sit out at least one quarter.
David Stern thoughts, "Honestly, that was actually quite embarrassing was it not? I mean geez, if I just saw the highlights after the injury of him flopping on the floor and getting carried off I would have guessed Tonya Harding made a guest appearance in the Garden last night and clubbed Paul right in the knee. He really put on a show didn't he? He was back before we could even cut to a commercial break. What did the doc do in the locker room? Slap him in the face, tell him to quit crying and be a man? That’s what I would have done.”
“I mean I make these guys dress in suits to every game to get a little credibility for the league and to appeal to the working class of America and Paul goes and pulls this shenanigan? I mean image if a construction worker stubbed their toe and pulled what Pierce did? They would be laughed off the job site. Or if an office worker got a paper-cut and proceeded to act like their hand just got chopped off by Yoda’s light saber? They would be looking at a severance package in a matter of minutes. The NBA is no different. This isn’t soccer. We aren’t based in France. If we want fans to respect our product, than our product better be tougher than a JR high cheerleader.”
“Now is this a major rule? No. But one that should get the point across that if you pull a Paul Pierce than you better be ready to sit for awhile.”

or they can just pull a Mavs and lose 4 straight.

kg's interior d isn't as good as td's, but his defense off screens is incredible, he can really bother players on the perimeter. I think boston will finish this in l.a.
Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:45 pm
well my lakers are down 0-2 going home hehehe!!! hope they gonna repeat what wade and my miami did few years ago hehehe!!! for me lakers will go 4-2 stealing atleast one game from boston...hopefully the super bench of lakers will come to rescue whenever the first 5 will not do their defensive-offensive attack
Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:21 pm
No wayy...
Celts in 6...
Tue Jun 10, 2008 5:13 pm
i was really hoping that the lakers could tie the game and go to overtime, but the celts denied kobe the ball and forced the machine to throw a three...
i have read just a little while that leon powe was the 2nd prospect during high school next to lebron james, so i guess what he did in the game shows that he can really score, even in a limited time..
i really want the lakers to win the championship, but i guess its impossible for that to happen if they can't steal one on the road...

about that 'new rule' that stern wants to implement, is he saying that paul pierce was just acting???
it looks like that pierce was really hurt...
Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:59 pm
I would suggest that article is satirical fiction.

I was gonna say something negative to you but then I looked at your location and realised that you can't help it.

Such useful posts, take notes ladies.
The Lakers' bench seems to be a bit of a non factor early on in the games, I'm not sure why Phil Jackson isn't playing them earlier in the game. The last two games I think he's tried to do what he did with the Spurs, get off to a quick start, keeping in mind that Boston's offense can stagnate from time to time.
Sadly it hasn't worked out that way, they've had some good offense from their players and due to their strong defense, they've been able to stop LA from getting quick starts and have managed to do their own offensive damage. I'd say both teams' offense isn't a problem right now, it's LA's defense that's lacking compared to Boston's.
Let's see if the LA crowd can get the young ones in to a better flow defensively. The high on which they ended game 02 should also help, atleast I hope it does. Sorry for the rambling, I guess you could call it "bordom".

I have a feeling with the way the Lakers got back into Game 2, players like Farmar and Vujacic will ride on the energy of an enthusiastic Los Angeles crowd and Kobe will be more aggressive and end up going off for 40 on much better shooting than the 41% he shot through the first two games. I believe the Celtics can break the streak and take one from the Lakers in Staples but I'd be surprised if it turns out to be Game 3.
If the Celtics do take Game 3 though then I don't see the Lakers defying the history of the 0-3 deficit. I'm not sure we'll ever see a team recover from going down 0-3 for that matter, four straight victories with two of them on the road against a fellow elite team is too tall an order, while the other team has four chances to win just one game.

I think the Celtics will definetaly win
Wed Jun 11, 2008 9:00 am
The lakers will most likely blow the celtics out of the fucking gym tonight. They have that passion, fire and momentum from the end of game 2. The celtics better put on their flame thrower suits for the next couple of games.
Wed Jun 11, 2008 9:23 am
I think Boston will take either this game or game 4. With the expectations of a home court win comes pressure, and we haven't seen how the Lakers will respond when being deep in a hole like 0-2. The "momentum" at the end of game 2 means nothing, they still lost.
Wed Jun 11, 2008 9:36 am
No one is disputing that.

I was responding to that.

Oh, I tend to skip those "useful" posts, they're too "useful" for me.
My bad.

Well...we can just let the game it's self do the debating for us.... hmm?
