They were originally the Buffalo Braves but adopted the Clippers nickname after moving to San Diego, in reference to the sailing ships that used to pass through San Diego bay (which were called clippers). They kept the name when they relocated to Los Angeles.

Why is everybody so high on Jamario Moon? Other than the fact that when he dunks, the stadium announcer calling his name... Jamario Moooooonnnn sounds cool. When I look at him, he looks to me more like a man that went under the radar. And nothing much to be excited about.

I think the JJ Reddick situation is a tough issue because many teams would like to have him just because of his college numbers. I bet some teams will give him a shot to see what he is really capable of but only time will tell. To be honest, I don't think he will do much in the NBA but that's all I'll say in case I have to eat my words a couple years later... :|

Dude, Jamario Moon is pretty good! And he doesn't just dunk.. He can shoot threes alright.
And, there's still room to develop! Even though he's a 27 year old rookie.

You see the guys who lead the NCAA in scoring, won't always be the bomb in the NBA.
Look at Adam Morrison, Redick's fellow scrub..

Steve Nash or Oscar Robertson probably.
But my vote goes to the Big O mainly because Steve Nash has 679 career steals, while Robertson only has 77.

As Ben has pointed out a couple of times, some of these questions would be better suited to their own topics as they're based on opinion and worthy of discussion. This thread was more about answering questions based on fact (where team names came from and other random trivia). So basically, feel free to bring up the hypothetical or opinion based questions in their own threads. :)

Steals weren't recorded until 1973, which excludes most of Robertson's career.

Ohhh, I see. Meaning the Big O got 77 steals in one season..
Which is FAR better than Nash since he hasn't got over 77 since 2003.

Same here. It's frustrating, those are some things that you know they were great that but everybody always wants stats to cushion that up.

The name was chosen by the group of investors when the team was founded back in the ABA. According to the official NBA encyclopedia, the name represents the state's history with harness racing pacers and the pace car used in the Indianapolis 500.

I've read that by their own estimation, they had single games with over 20 blocks which if true would likely have produced some staggering numbers over the course of a season.

I'd say Dr James Naismith, in December 1891.

He does have potential to be a good player. The problem is that we'd like to see him drive and slash more than he has. He is obviously a crazy dunker, but he doesn't try to drive at all! He will settle for jumpers, which he has improved on though. Sam Mitchell, IMO, is not a good teacher to young players. After his COY season, the raptors regressed badly..

Which leads me to the next question
Do you think Andrea Bargnani shouldn't of been the first pick?

That kind of question really deserves its own topic.
