If I remember correctly, I think I saw an article, where Curry said he only plays basketball, because he has physical abilities and so he could make a lot of money.

An example that demonstrates honesty isn't always the best policy, contrary to Aesop's fable about the two woodsmen.

Nate dropped 24 points in the first half against the Heat. Does anyone think he has a shot at eastern conference player of the month? He's been on a tear.

I take back everything I said about the Knicks, they are fucking horrible and have no shot at making the playoffs. It's fucking ridiculous. I'm so upset at the fact that this isn't the first game they choke up this season. And while Nate seems genius at times, he is a stupid mental nutcase. I'm so aggravated right now I don't want to speak to anyone.

Nate is ok, it's just that Wade can't be stopped at times. And Jamario does seem like a nice affordable addition, as I predicted. With him, we don't miss Marion at all. He's doing it more for us at the moment.

Wade got revenge on Gallanari for elbowing him in the face
Allen Iverson passing on family values:

A.I.: son, what you doing there?
A.I.'s son: practicing my math for my test tommorow
A.I: practice? practice? we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test - practice. we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test, not the test - practice.

The Knicks have signed C Cheikh Samb to a 10-day contract. I really like this move and do hope they sign him for longer OR any other bigman that can block shots. We need size and blocks so bad!

Who the hell cares if he's in it for the money? Not as if every player's got to be in it "for love of the game"? It's a profession. You work, you earn money. You work harder, you earn more money. You work less, you get fired. You determine how much you really want to get out of it and if he's content as a bottom-feeder in the league making decent money off the stupidity of Isiah Thomas, let him.

I think that's the key when it comes to Eddy Curry and the broader criticism of similar professional athletes (particularly NBA players) in general. Some get a big payday and then the effort is gone because the money is guaranteed, even if they're cut. As you say, it's a profession and that's not a professional attitude. Very professionals in other walks of life have that luxury. No one's criticising Curry for wanting to make moneym just slacking off on the job which is unprofessional no matter whether he's just playing for the money or the love of the game.

There's obviously other issues this year that I'm sure are playing on his mind more than basketball and those are very sad circumstances, but the criticisms of his work ethic pre-date the tragedy that's befallen him in the last couple of months.

From an idealistic perspective it's one thing to state that someone should put in 110% into their careers. But from a realistic standpoint, those of you that work -- can you say you really do as an individual?

Well that's a pretty subjective thing to analyse yourself, but unless there's no one higher than you chances are you better make sure you demonstrate that you're fulfilling all your duties otherwise your future employment is at risk. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that Curry should be putting in more effort or express disappointment that he's not taking full advantage of the "tools" at his disposal, especially for the money he's getting. Besides, with Curry it's generally not so much about giving the proverbial 110% but making some sort of effort in his conditioning and on the court, period.

Hakeem Olajuwon has a term for cats like Eddy Curry - "little big man". An insult to the Knick who previously wore #34. Talk about opposites.

Curry Would Support Trade To Help Knicks

Eddy Curry would welcome a trade out of New York if it meant helping the Knicks.

"I've been here a long time," Curry said Sunday. "I want to see us get better. If it takes my contract to do it, then I would hate to leave, [but] if it results in the Knicks getting better, I'm all for that."

Curry also mentioned that he is eligible to opt out of his contract following the 2009-10 season, though that would mean leaving behind $11.2 million that he would be unlikely to find elsewhere.

I'd be surprised if he did opt out of his contract but if they can get a trade worked out then so much the better for their plans for 2010.

2010 or 2011? If you mean after they make a splash in the potential upcoming free agent frenzy, that'll actually be the 2011 postseason.

Fair enough. With the East being somewhat uncertain in the lower seeds year-to-year, it has to be a possibility.

I don't know about that but the Celtics showed last year that with a couple of big moves it is possible to go from the lottery to a championship so I suppose it couldn't be ruled out. Personally, I'll reserve judgement until we see what happens in 2010. ;)

I'm headed to the Magic @ Knicks game on March 23rd. First chance to see the Knicks this season, and I get to see Mr. Dwight Howard.

That might not be a good night for the Knicks, but I'm certainly envious of being able to watch an NBA game from the stands. Have fun. :)
