Still, this isn't a team that will get Dirk his ring.

As for the off-season winners, LAL for sure.

The Grizzlies seemed to think that way for the past 2 seasons and he kinda sucked. The Mavs should probably start him if they want to get the best out of him, assuming that's possible at this point.

agreed. he was kind of hit or miss, so maybe they should bring dahntay & carter off the bench

Like the Mavs have ever been in contender status.

He already has it.

Jhiane wrote:Most of the NBA fans are saying that the Mavs is one of the losers this offseason? I think they are wrong :)

Not now that they've made a few solid moves. Before that, when they'd simply missed out on signing Deron Williams and were watching key players leave for other teams, it could be argued that their offseason was shaping up to be unsuccessful, but they've turned it around.

NovU wrote:They certainly got interesting ingredients that might surprise everybody. Top to bottom they got above/near average players and should be a fun team to watch with a superstar in the mix. But realistically, I don't think they are a true contender yet with Joe Johnson as a second best player on the team. And talents that are surrounding Deron I believe are more comparable to his Jazz days. What do you guys think?

I definitely wouldn't consider them among the favourites to contend for the championship, but on paper they are at least a playoff team, one that could possibly at least get through to the second round.

Yep, Sir andrew is right, they still lack that interior defense. Lopez is the key tho, hope he develops better on defense..

P.S.
I can't forget someone said that this years nets is equal/same w/ the bobcats and not a playoff team   . Now they shall see the bigger picture.

He already has it. If he doesn't team up with either Bron & co., [Insert some future hall of famers playing for the Lakers], [Insert some overpaid All Stars playing for the Nets], or some team like OKC, he'll never get another ring...

You want Dirk to team up with a bunch of prima donna superstars and not win it again like he did?

Not everyone can go out on top and retire after a championship clinching game, indeed a lot of the greats do not. While it's an awesome way to cap off a career, not being able to do it doesn't diminish the fact that he was The Man on a Mavericks team that was one of the top teams in the league for about a decade, culminating with a championship in 2011.

No, I really do not want him to leave the Mavs to join a couple of bandwagoners. I just don't see any chances that Dirk could win it all again in Dallas like 2011 just on his own. As Andrew said, there are other great players like Pat Ewing or Chuck, that never won a ring at all, so Dirk can be lucky to have his one (which he deserves well).

Marc J. Spears: Celtics to acquire G Courtney Lee from Rockets in a sign and trade sending back F JaJuan Johnson, sources tell Y! Details being finalized.

What is it with Houston getting rid of any serviceable player? Off the top of my head I have no idea of a good player they have. Chase Budinger comes to mind. :| (Besides Lin I guess.)

Boston got Courtney Lee & Jason Terry for Ray Allen. Not too bad, Lee is a terrific addition to that defensive/tough Boston squad.

Boston really made the best of Ray Allen's departure. They made again a nice addition with Lee.

Lol'ed hard at this gem:

Yannis Koutroupis: Give the Rockets credit. There's no better way to put McHale in a position to succeed than giving him nothing but big men to coach.

Andrew, yep. True that.

Thankfully MM won't be retiring. But if he was to this time, it would have been something like that :D

Really, the media is just making fun(money) about this, making him the villain.instead it should be blame on the magic FO, they should've finished it a couple of weeks ago..

Sometimes I wish he would suffer a career ending injury right at the start of next season. And if his agent would die in a lethal car accident I wouldn't mind too...

I'm tired of these D-Coward rumors. He should take his talents to South Pole next season.

Trade him for your boy Lopez and other scrubs from Brooklyn? The Magic have no urgency to rush a trade, and literally the trade did not happen because there was no third team that wanted to take Humphries.

Howard is a grown man, he needs to do decisions on his own, and if he can't its not the Magic's fault.

Those new statements everyday should not be overrated, Howard won't sign an extension yet, because when he hits FA he can get a lot bigger contract.

I can't blame the Magic for trying to trade this scrub because they want to get something instead of nothing. The problem is no team wants to bite in trading for Coward.

Sure, the team isn't 100% fault free as both are trying to get what they want out of this. But I doubt Dwight handled the situation smart enough to avoid blames. This remains to be seen whether he'll be the next Villain LeBawn or Forgotten one Chris Paul.

Worse then LBJ. Reason is, with not deciding anything he sabotaged some of the possible trades. If Howard leaves as a FA, Orlando will go through about the same as with Shaq, but would have gotten chances to get something in return that they won't get now.

Yeah, it's entirely the Magic's fault they've got an untradable player who's demanding to be traded, despite having signed an extension only months ago, and is generally a self-important douche.

To be fair, it's not like CLE got anything in return from LBJ's departure. The difference I think is that LBJ has given people what they wanted(despite turned out to be lies) during his CLE tenure, and Dwight is totally taking different route dealing with the situation. The club I don't think is at totally false free though. Howard has shown frustration and desires to leave the team over the years, but the team dragged the situation this long in the hopes of changing his mind. And the reasons to dislike Howard is his Vince Carter doings. LBJ statistically I believe has given everything in his ability to play at his best, most of times with Cavaliers, and didn't cause much trouble between teammates and staffs. On the other hand, Howard is somewhat pulling Vince Carter. Teammates and management both are extremely frustrated and performance isn't at his best as his willingness just isn't there.

But in the end, Howard wants to be the chooser where he wants to go. That's within his right. And that's making the Magic beggars though they want to be the choosers instead. Too bad.
