Tue Jun 19, 2007 6:13 pm

SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT KAPONO I DONT CARE IF HE SHOT 300 3PTERS AND MADE 270!

When has signing a great 3 point shooter to compliment a dominant big man, who is said to be good at passing out of doubble teams, been a bad idea?

Wed Jun 20, 2007 1:54 am

I hate to argue, Jugs... but I think bringing Blake back is a great idea. Not claiming I'm a genious for it- I think it's perfectly simple/logical. The three man PG rotation was working just fine last year before the Blake trade, I see no reason it couldn't continue- perhaps even more with Jack playing backup SG as well.

As far as Kapono goes, I hadn't heard any of those rumors, but it'd make sense to me, though I've never seen him play, honestly. And, I dunno- Pryzbilla is WAY more white than we need.

note: I know Blake is white too... I just had to make some sort of Pryzbilla white joke. I don't know why- it was just impossible not to, for some reason.

IMO he has a very underrated mid range game. People only see him as a 3 point shooter, but he is very good at running around screens for the mid range shot as well.

I looked up some videos of him over the last few days... seems he'd be a pretty good compliment to the Blazers' SF rotation... him and Martell splitting half the minutes, Outlaw in the other half for defensive purposes. <shrug> Seems okay to me.

I don't know if it was mentioned before, but how about trading Randolph for Battier (glue guy, locker room presence, a defensive stud and a very good spot shooter), Sura (an expiring contract), a filler and future considerations? Then you still have Outlaw, Webster, Jones and Jack as trade assets and MLE to spend on a need.

I've thought about that too (well, the Battier part). If the heavily rumored Richard Jefferson deal doesn't go through, I think Battier is my personal second choice.

Here is a thought, Charlotte sign and trades Gerald Wallace to the Blazers for Randolph. Randolph and Okafor together would be something. Wallace on the Blazers would fit nice. Charlotte drafts a SG/SF with the 8th pick.

Tue Jun 26, 2007 10:24 am

Ugh.. I think Wallace is going to be TOO much of an impact player in the coming years (I forsee him being a much more potent force than Richard Jefferson, if not already, at least very soon). He'd probably be good for the team, but I wouldn't like it as much.

The Knicks, sources say, are trying to acquire Randolph in exchange for forward Channing Frye and guard Steve Francis, who has only two seasons left on his contract and has the option to become a free agent after next season. Randolph has four seasons left on his deal worth more than $61 million.

Wow this would be a big deal, as long as Francis can become the old francis. Adding him and Frye for Randolph would be a good move i think.

Fri Jun 29, 2007 9:00 am

dear god dont do it, the last thing portland needs is a cancer like steve infecting oden.

Fri Jun 29, 2007 11:22 am

I think Francis is just thrown in as a semi-expiring contract, he's off the books in 2 seasons and i doubt he'll be resigned. He might as well start playing golf.

ESPN wrote:The New York Knicks didn't have a lottery pick Thursday night but made their own draft-night splash by acquiring Portland big man Zach Randolph.

The Knicks and Trail Blazers reached agreement on a deal that swaps Randolph and teammates Dan Dickau and Fred Jones for guard Steve Francis and Channing Frye.

Francis has only two seasons left on his contract, worth just over $34 million, but possesses the option to become a free agent after next season. The Blazers, however, are planning to buy out Francis' contract and make him a free agent this summer, sources said.

Yet even if they changed course and decided to keep Francis, his arrival would still provide Portland with some long-term payroll relief, since Randolph has four seasons left on his contract worth more than $61 million.

Randolph averaged 23.6 points and 10.1 rebounds in a breakout season in 2006-07 but has faced an uncertain future in Portland since late May, when Portland won the No. 1 overall pick in the draft lottery and the right to select Greg Oden. But the Blazers, who continue to put a premium on good citizenship after years of turmoil, prefer to jettison Randolph and build around a front line of Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge.

But neither Randolph's troubled off-court past nor the fact that New York already has a low-post presence in Eddy Curry appears to concern Knicks president Isiah Thomas.

Stevie would be bought out, but who knows. :P

Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:11 pm

FUCKEN HELL

Why the fuck did the Blazers just give away Randolph for Fucken Frye and Fucken Francis omfg!!!!!

Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:14 pm

That's an absolute nightmare trade for the Blazers. I don't understand it at all.

Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:32 pm

Well they got Channing Frye in return, he's a good player.

They just need to clear room for LaMarcus Aldridge and they got rid of Zach Randolphs' enourmous contract that still has plenty of years left on it, while Franci's massive contract has just 2 years left on it and will instantly become a trade piece, or if they keep it it will clear out 17mil of cap space.

Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:38 pm

Lol, I was planning on playing Live and trading Randolph to New York for Frye and a few fillers as well.

Fri Jun 29, 2007 1:15 pm

I don't like what the Blazers did. They wouldn't have needed to clear room for LaMarcus Aldridge if they had drafted Kevin Durant.

They COULD have had

C - Aldridge
PF - Randolph
SF- Durant

Oh well... everyone is busy drinking the kool-aid on the 40 year old rookie. David Robinson has fewer wrinkles than he does. wtf is he part pug?

Fri Jun 29, 2007 1:47 pm

I can't believe Portland's haul in this draft...they just pulled Taurean Green from deep 2nd round.

I agree w/ Indy...may be the best overall draft haul in NBA history.

Fri Jun 29, 2007 1:53 pm

... And now Demetris Nichols who is a player I love watching and should get a great oppurtunity with the SF whole in Portland. IMO he's a big steal at the bottom of the second.

Thats one hell of a draft the Blazers got tonight.

Fri Jun 29, 2007 2:09 pm

How does Portland manage so many fucking new players? Thats two years in a row they have drafted like a "drunk college guy playing NBA live" late at night...

Sun Jul 01, 2007 1:14 am

Another new player:James Jones from the Suns!Good deal,Jones can be a good shooter and has got Playoff experience (Y)
