Re: Random NBA Discussion 2014-15 Season

Every year I think the Grizzlies will fall off but they continue to impress. They were one of the best teams in the West last year, but Gasol's injury made them a 7 seed, and the suspension of Randolph + playing a tough OKC team was too much to overcome. Year before that, they made the WCF but ran into a buzz-saw in the Spurs. Marc is playing at an MVP level, their bench is stepping up and Dave Joerger is one of the best coaches in the NBA. If I'm not sold on them as contenders, it's only because they don't shoot threes.

Kudos to them for ending Portland's winning streak and handing them their first home loss. They've been a match-up nightmare for years though, and as awesome as my Blazers have been so far, a weak schedule has made them look better than they are.

Portland can be too bipolar because of their reliance on jumpshots. We have won so many games coming from behind already this season. When we do build up a good lead we don't sustain it either just like last season. LMA has to start beasting on the inside a bit more. He is shooting 44% FG. Lillard is shooting a better percentage than him right now.

Boring. Everyone was busy watching marquee match up in LA where the best rookie in decades went up against the best player in the league(salary wise, lol, highest paid player).

On more serious note, this 30 years old Marc Gasol is having his career year. MIP candidate at 30 who was already a star player? This is insane. He's likely the top center in this league. Boogie the Big Cous? Not so fast.

As for the early season MVPs, I'd say CURRY and more Unibrow DAVIS. They have replaced reigning MVP duos LBJ and KD. It's going to be interesting to see how Pelicans play their cards from this day on. Davis is a generational superstar and you don't want to fuck it up like teams did with KG, CP3, or LBJ.

Demar Derozan out indefinitely with a torn adductor longus tendon. Just when the Raptors are off to their hottest start ever this happens. Lost to Dallas and also lost Derozan for a while. Demar hasn't had the best start but still this hurts.

Lou has been playing great but not sure if you want to shove him into the starting lineup. You can put him in and keep rolling but you lose the obvious offensive punch off the bench. Vasquez will need to take over and shoot a heck lot better than he has to begin the season. The other option is to slide Ross into his natural position of SG, and then start James Johnson (or heck even Landry Fields if they don't want to mess up the rotation too much). Valanciunas and Ross need to step up big time in Demar's absence. There will also be extra defensive attention on Lowry.

Losing Demar sucks but losing Lowry would have been even worse.

They are in the East so it shouldn't sting that much. They will probably still be top 4 atleast by the time he gets back. As long as he is 100% for playoffs Raps are good.

Lakers versus Wolves

don't understand the darren collison talk... his numbers have been pretty consistent throughout his career. the only notable improvement is he's turning the ball over less. when you figure in that his scoring percentages have taken a bit of a dip, i don't understand why people are suddenly talking so highly of him.

His last few outings indicates that he's on his way down to earth anyway.

5/10, 0/1, 7/7 - 17pts, 12ast, 6reb, 1stl, 1blk, 1to.

6/10, 2/4, 5/6 - 19pts, 7ast, 2reb, 1stl, 4to.

5/12, 2/3, 3/4 - 15pts, 2ast, 3reb, 1blk, 3to.

Don't exactly see how he's on his way down to earth...

About time, lol. Darren Collison is good, but he's definitely not as good as his early numbers would suggest.
Back to Stephenson: He's simply not a good fit on the Hornets team. He's not a cahmoney (cash money) scorer. He's a point guard, if anything. His ball dominating skills do not fit the Charlotte Hornets' system. Admittedly that system is mainly filled with passes towards Jefferson, but it's still a free flowing system. Stephenson is a bad fit, both because of his frequent need for touches and penchant for isolation.
Anything sarcastic and stupid to add, MenoPauss?

His numbers aren't even that great?

Back to Stephenson: He's not a cahmoney (cash money) scorer.

Who ever said he was a first scoring option? The team already has Jefferson and Walker. Even you said the teams offense is mainly evolved around Jefferson?

Firstly, could you describe that system?
Secondly, he is a ball dominant point guard? His USG is under 20% and he is under Darren Collison (an above average point guard). What the hell are you talking about. He is 3rd in his team USG wise.

He's a point guard, if anything.

Lol.

but it's still a free flowing system. Stephenson is a bad fit, both because of his frequent need for touches and penchant for isolation.

Clearly you play 2k too much.

Hornets offense barely changed this season compared to last.
2013/2014-16th assists
2014/2013/-14th assists

2013/2014-23rd scoring
2014/2015-25th scoring

Anything sarcastic and stupid to add, MenoPauss?

You clearly don't have a clue what you are talking about.
Oh by the way, I wasn't being sarcastic the other time. I really do think you're an idiot and that trade proposition was laughable.

Re: Random NBA Discussion 2014-15 Season

Mon Dec 01, 2014 11:59 pm

Lance knew that he won't be the first option when he signed with Charlotte. His signing was supposed to improve the team, not for him to take over.

Is it because he's rated higher than Jefferson in 2k15 that's why you're saying that?

Re: Random NBA Discussion 2014-15 Season

Tue Dec 02, 2014 5:45 am

No, I say that because Lance seems to think that he's the first option. Instead of making passes and swinging the ball, he likes to create for others out of isolation. That's how I see it from just watching the Portland Trailblazers play the Hornets. Both times Stephenson seemed to hang on to the ball.
And MenoPauss, I don't give a fuck what you think about me. At least I don't collect pictures of girls. Freak. Lol you could go to jail for that. So if I were you, I'd keep your craw stuffed up nice and tight and we won't have any more issues.

He took 10 shots...
Edit: and the highest +/- on the team. I love when people just wont admit that they were talking bullshit and start talking even more bullshit.

Its funny how you immediately change the subject after you realize how stupid you turned out to be.

Edit:Lol just realized this.

Join online forum. Post a lot. Turn out to not have a clue what he is talking about. Gets called out an idiot.is an idiot. Changes subject. Makes threats.

Cliche.

Edit: is your favorite player Kobe the black mamba Bryant, otherwise known as the goat?

In a way the attention is similar to Nowitzki.
Dirk's all-star production have been consistent through out his career, Mavs make the Finals and win it and people think he went beast mode out of nowhere when really he's always been great.

fair comparison, and correlates to what I was actually thinking. i assumed that a lot of the attention was coming from the fact that he was playing for the kings, a team that drew a lot of attention early on. if he was putting up the same numbers on a less interesting team, i'm pretty sure he'd continue to go unnoticed.

Re: Random NBA Discussion 2014-15 Season

Tue Dec 02, 2014 11:56 am

If Darren Collison was putting up the same numbers from previous seasons, he'd be a score-only PG. But his facilitating has been where the money's at with the Kings. Take a good look at assist stats, his numbers are way above average even to consider among PGs, something that he has never done in his career. His rebounding has also gone from under avg to above, all around game has improved to counter slight decrease in shooting %.

Only reason he should go unnoticed is when he won't sustain it.

Re: Random NBA Discussion 2014-15 Season

Tue Dec 02, 2014 12:09 pm

career per36 average: 6.1

this season: 6.8

i don't think .7 assists a game differentiates a 'score-only' pg and a facilitator.

rebounds: 3.4 to 3.8...

improvements for sure, nothing to suddenly go crazy over though. he's always been solid imo.

Re: Random NBA Discussion 2014-15 Season

Tue Dec 02, 2014 12:17 pm

AST%? AST/TO ratio? There are several other metrics that accurately measure how one's assist ability brought impact to the game. Simply 6 ast avg doesn't mean it's equivalent 6 ast from other seasons.

There are reasons why his PER was over 20 (nearly equivalent to Kobe's) at one point this season. He's always been a more or less 15-16 PER guy (15 being league avg).

Maybe we all have just viewed Darren Collison in a bad light. I know for sure I didn't like him with the Mavs, he was a disappointment that year. (At least, I feel he was).
