A consolation prize for Dallas, if this turns out.

Respectable recovery moves. I actually like it better than last year's Mav roster. Got younger with Mayo and Collison. And Brand also has played decent ball last season.

Damn, I was hoping the Bulls had a shot of landing him. It's a good move for the Mavericks; I think they're resigned to being competitive enough to just make the Playoffs and try to overachieve, is fine as they transition into a new era after being one of the league's better teams for the past decade or so. They're not blowing everything up, but they're keeping their options open for the next offseason. Not a bad plan.

He need to keep pace with Wallace and Johnson.

24/2 for Humphries? Holy shit.
I'm very glad though, as there were rumors about the Sixers possibly pursuing him.

Clips seem to have snagged Grant Hill, nice addition for them. He's been awesome on defense the last couple of years. Sterling spending money, I'm amazed.
Ken Berger: League source confirms Grant Hill has decided to sign with the Clippers. He had also been considering the Lakers and Knicks.
Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:26 am
What the? Why would Grant Hill go to the Clippers? And yay!
Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:30 am
i was pretty sure he was gonna be a laker. this is a shock to me.
Wed Jul 18, 2012 4:07 am
Surprised too, but as one of the writers said, sort of makes sense for him. In the guard/forward crowded roster of the Clips, he probably won't have to play heavy minutes which is always a good thing for any 40 year old.

Chauncey Billups can be convincing.

We got Mayo?

This is actually good... maybe even better than last year's squad, much better players down low with Brand and Kaman, though I don't see us being higher than the 6th seed as of now.

At least I liked how Humphries was doing mini-Dwight-Howard impersonation stats wise last season(Huge reason why my fantasy team won). Lol.
The Nets have gone quite comical with each and every moves.

It's probably a little too much for Humphries, but it's only for two years so worst case scenario he'll have value as an expiring contract next year. With that in mind, a $12 million salary and an expiring contract might help facilitate a sign-and-trade for Dwight Howard, if he's willing to wait out the season in Orlando.
Nice move by the Clippers, too.

exactly

again, there's no other better PF FA's around there that compliments lopez..consistent double-double for 2 years and stays healthy, i'd rather have him than an aging PF that is oft injured..
this happens when you have the richest sports owner in the world..

You're such a fanboy, had they not signed him you'd talk about him being a Kardashian distraction.

don't remember i've said anything 'bout that
haters gonna hate

Nuggets Amnesty Birdman, Sign Anthony Randolph to 3 year contract worth 6 millionDefinitely not surprised they used the amnesty clause on him. He basically had no playing time towards the end of the season, as they had preference to McGee, Mozgov and Koufos.
Also...
Wizards Amnesty Blatche
Wed Jul 18, 2012 10:39 pm
Neither are particularly surprising moves, Birdman having slipped out of the rotation and Blatche falling out of favour and being a bad contract to have on the books. Solid signing for the Nuggets in Anthony Randolph, though.

God help the Mavs if they start Vince Carter. I'd put him behind Mayo & Dominique Jones in the depth chart.

Good point. And they built a playoffs team.
They certainly got interesting ingredients that might surprise everybody. Top to bottom they got above/near average players and should be a fun team to watch with a superstar in the mix. But realistically, I don't think they are a true contender yet with Joe Johnson as a second best player on the team. And talents that are surrounding Deron I believe are more comparable to his Jazz days. What do you guys think?

I think Mayo would be good in the Jason Terry role. I'd probably start Dahntay Jones over Vince Carter myself.

Most of the NBA fans are saying that the Mavs is one of the losers this offseason? I think they are wrong
Thu Jul 19, 2012 1:39 am
Initially it looked like it was the case, after losing Terry, Kidd and their failed attempt to get Deron Williams. But they made some solid moves... probably not enough to get them back to contender status, but still enough to make them a pain in the ass in the playoffs.

The Grizzlies seemed to think that way for the past 2 seasons and he kinda sucked. The Mavs should probably start him if they want to get the best out of him, assuming that's possible at this point.
