great job referees, nba bs

Re: 2016 NBA FINALS: Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors

Also for convenience:

12/9/14: The NBA fined Enes Kanter (UTA) $25,000 for throwing his mouthpiece into the stands during Monday's SAC-UTA game.
12/11/12: The NBA suspended Amir Johnson (TOR) for 1 game for throwing his mouthpiece at a ref following his ejection during Monday's TOR-POR game.
11/26/12: The NBA fined Aaron Brooks (SAC) $25,000 for throwing his mouthpiece into the stands after Friday's SAC-UTA game.
4/23/07: The NBA fined Kirk Hinrich (CHI) $25,000 for throwing his mouth piece during Saturday's MIA-CHI game.
4/24/06: The NBA suspended Udonis Haslem (MIA) for 1 game for throwing his mouth piece towards a ref during Saturday's CHI-MIA game.
4/15/03: The NBA suspended Rashard Lewis (SEA) for 1 game for throwing his mouth piece at the ref following his ejection in Monday's SEA-DAL game.

In short, stands == $25K fine, at a ref == suspension.

Also they started using "mouthpiece" instead of "mouth piece" sometimes between '07 and '12.

I guess the welfare of fans doesn't matter that much to the NBA.

Do you know how much Curry's or LeBron's mouthpiece must be worth? They should be glad, even if it is delivered to them at high velocity.

Max contract Barnes at it again. It seems like he has some kind of voodoo curse at the worst time possible.

And it's official, Curry is fined $25K for throwing his mouth piece into the stands. As far as consistency with past incidents goes, it's alright.

Also, Kerr got fined $25K for criticizing the refs after the game (which is imo pretty dumb, but hey, Popovich probably has separated account for this).

Oddest finals I've seen for sure. it's ljames and your boy Irving as the best players of the series the last few games.

Ljames has a legitimate case for mvp regardless of the game 7 outcome

Barnes and/or livingston needs to grow some balls

If it influences the officiating at all in his favour for Game 7, then it's money well spent.

Hey, speaking of hating...

I don't think LeBron is getting enough credit right now, but I'm inclined to disagree with that. I will say that both achievements are impressive in their own right, however. Whatever the perceived strength of the competition, we've seen many times that any NBA team is capable of beating another on any given occasion, and upsets/choke jobs do happen. At the end of the day, you've got to get the job done against the competition that presents itself, and that still takes drive, effort, and consistency. Besides, from most accounts, the 70s was arguably the weakest decade in league history, what with talent being in the ABA and all the drug abuse.

Don't you know? Current is always better, new is always best. Old is always actually terrible, and only thought of fondly due to nostalgia*.

I love how everybody's agreed to ignore that this is James Jones's sixth consecutive Finals appearance, because it completely undercuts the 'you have to be a great player to do that' narrative they're constructing about LeBron.

LeBron's impact is a tad larger than Jones', to be fair.

The same could be said of a couple of his other fouls. A few key players on the Cavs got in early foul trouble as well, with some questionably soft calls. It flies under the radar though, because they won the game.

BTW as one of yall said How much would a Curry mouthpiece go for.....
The mouthguard is now going to be put up for auction and, according to Dan Imler, vice president of the California-based auction house, the piece of rubber that used to reside in Steph Curry’s mouth could sell for as much as $5,000.

I knew this was coming. Fans of Leflop suddenly have their bandwagon back with game 7. But I fear not. Come the Sunday, it will be all quite on the western front again.

As for the outcome I actually want to see Cavs to take the title this year. Curry and Green have been too cocky and insulting that LBJ is right to be mad at em.

Love's been shuffled out for the same reason Mozgov has after he tore it up all last year after landing with the Cavs. He absolutely destroyed Atlanta and Detroit because they had traditional bigs. Toronto doesn't play a pair of traditional bigs much like Golden State. (Biyombo is like 6-8 really and has SF-ish athleticism. Patterson is a stretch four and Scola was pretending to be one.)
koberulz wrote:I love how everybody's agreed to ignore that this is James Jones's sixth consecutive Finals appearance, because it completely undercuts the 'you have to be a great player to do that' narrative they're constructing about LeBron.

James Jones still has a career because of LeBron.

And I don't mean that in a LeBron "makes players better" way but in a LeBron is totes friends and that's why he keeps showing up everywhere LeBron goes. The Heat waived him in 2010 but LeBron asked them to sign him back.

He's like an ideal LeBron-mate too. Doesn't turn it over or do anything except make epic amounts of threes. And he's not a bad defender. Way better at it than some of the other trash Miami and Cleveland has tried to roll out in the same role.

air gordon wrote:Ljames has a legitimate case for mvp regardless of the game 7 outcome

A lot like last year really, only this time LeBron's got scoring backup so they haven't had to drag the Warriors into old school East slowdown hell.

36/13/9 last year, this year he's at 30/11/8.5/3stls/2blks. (And shooting much better.)

But we don't give Finals MVPs to losers anymore for some dumb reason.

Going into game seven both the Cavs and Warriors have exactly 610 points in the series and 495 FGA. And an ORtg of 110.2.

$5K? Shit, that would pay my rent for about 2 years.

If Love becomes avail on trade block, he's going to be a steal after Finals performance.

Tristan and Lbj rebound well. Lbj and Irving have the ball almost in every possession. Someone else does what Love is good at on this Cavs team. He is going to be pretty good again on a team that have needs in his strength.

Having said that, it looks like this era's 5 entirely is about rebounding and defence. Otherwise other skills are much less important. Love cant play 5 for that reason. He's strictly a 4. Stretch 4. Probably not demanded as much, but there still gotta be many teams with needs of his game. Perhaps to the Knicks for Melo?

or maybe ljames is best suited to be the stretch 4 against the W's and RJeff has been competent as the extra wing.

and shutting down GSW's mvp, Green, and being a good protector. i never did like awarding a MVP to a losing team. great individual effort but your team still lost.

the thing is Love has been a good rebounder, especially an Orebs guy. for whatever reason he just doesn't attack the glass like before. maybe it's the scheme?

Love can't "play" 4 or 5 against the non traditional big men as benji mentioned. but i do agree Love is somewhat of a steal with his contract but the back end of it may be a drag considering his age then.
