February 15, 2008 -- The success of the Blazers has hurt Zach Randolph's trade value, but there are rumblings the Nuggets and the Knicks New York Knicks have discussed a multi-player trade involving the disgruntled power forward.

Nuggets general manager Mark Warkentien was the former Blazers director of scouting when Portland tabbed Randolph in the NBA Draft. It is believed names discussed in a potential deal included Linas Kleiza, Eduardo Najera, Steven Hunter and J.R. Smith for Randolph and another Knick. The Knicks appear most interested in up-and-comer Kleiza.

Another disaster in the making. When will Dolan realize Isiah has to go? He's done enough damage to this franchise. Kiki is stupid to take this job.

I actually think Kiki would be smart to take the New York job. He'd have practically nothing to lose. He'd be given basically a blank check and a free ride for about 5 years. Sure he'd have to clean up a pretty messy situation, but if he was able to do it he'd be looked at as a New York hero, and if he failed so what, it was Isiah's fault.

Well it'd be pretty hard to clean up this mess of a team. Good luck to Kiki though it'll be hard to rebuild the team as long as Isiah's coaching.

At least it would be limiting Isiah's role, though. It's not as though Isiah has a stellar record as a coach but if he's not the one wheeling and dealing in the front office, that has to be an improvement.

If next season fails miserably again, it will be Kiki's fault not Isiah's (again).

Kiki denied the rumours but of course, who knows in professional sports. It sounds as though Marbury might be on the way out though, one way or another.

If Kiki's not allowed to name his own coach(like a GM should), then he's a moron for taking this job. You can't be successful with Isiah as coach. Like Larry Brown, he should know getting involved with Dolan & Isiah is a recipe for disaster. Besibes, Isiah's going to (secretly)undermine Kiki like he did Brown.

I suppose it depends how much power is taken away from Thomas and how much faith Dolan would place in Kiki. Kiki has denied any talks or interest in taking a job though so it's probably just idle speculation anyway.

I just read that Thomas has lifted Marbury's ban from Madison Square Garden after four days. I can't help but wonder what the point of that whole exercise was.

Don't even try, Andrew. Nothing makes sense at MSG these days. It's so frustrating for us hardcore fans watching Dolan & Isiah turn this franchise into the laughingstock of pro sports. But the team makes money hand over fist, and brain-dead fans still go to games. In other words, we're sunk.

Could you ever see Knicks fans boycotting the team though? I mean, Knicks fans seem to be, as a group, very passionate about their team so refusing to have anything to do with them would take a lot of willpower. I remember at the Draft last year, the contingent of Knicks fans went ballastic when Wilson Chandler was selected. Of course, there was kind of a moment after that when people started asking who he was, but I thought it was a great example of the passion you guys have for your team.

I thought that was ridiculous. IMO, a true fan doesn't cheer for the opposition. You can respect the kid's talent, but cheering for him? I never cheered for Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem & Doc when they torched my guys. They're not wearing a Knick uniform, they're the enemy. But the Knicks are such sh!t these days, I guess the suckers who pay to see them need something to root for.

Still, I have sympathy for die hard fans. And not rooting for an opponent.. Well that's an opinion, but that can also be the beauty of this sport. When you see something truely extraordinary... Why not show it ?
Maybe I personally wouldn't go as far as cheering for an opponent, but still.. It's kinda showing some deep respect ? I don't know, but I sure understand the emotion.

Yeah, the theatre was buzzing after that one. The fact that it's worked out so well for the Blazers must be disheartening as well.

What about gestures such as giving Jordan a standing ovation in his last appearance at MSG (or similarly, his "last" appearance in 1998) as he went to the bench?

Not for players I truly hated, like Jordan, Bird or Reggie Miller. Knicks had heated rivalries with their respective teams, so I'd boo instead of cheer(I bleed NY). I give them respect/props now that they're retired, but not when they were wearing the opposing uniform.
