in that case i 100% approve and agree with this trade. great job by portland if you ask me. even if they might have been able to get more for randolph, not having him ever speak to oden is the best thing they could ever have done

Yep. The last thing Blazer management wanted was Randolph around their young star.
I have no idea how Randolph will do in NY. He and Curry could be nasty on offense, but who can they stop? Plus there aren't enough balls to go around for these guys. If Zeke can get them to pass the ball and play a semblance of 'D', NY should win at least 45 games.

NY looks like thy might make the playofss if Steph can focus on the team and Curry and Randolph can co-exist, then they should make the playoffs. Zeke makes smart moves sometimes. Fred Jones and Nate Robinson are freak athletes. I have a feeling Q-Rich could shine IF he starts. But in any event, the Knicks should make the playoffs.

A+ move for NY, OK move for Portland.
NY was going to buy out Steve Francis anyway...so instead they actually get a solid player instead of nothing. Randolph won't score as much in NY but he'll clean up on the boards.
For Portland, the main thing is they got rid of a big contract in Randolph since they'll buy Francis out so he can play for a veteran team. I've never been on the Frye bandwagon so i don't see what's so special about the guy.
The real trade here is whatever free agent Portland will be able to sign either this year or next with Randolph off the books.
As long as Randolph doesn't die in a gun battle with his brother, i think think this works for both teams.

Ron Artest for David Lee?
The NY Post is reporting Zeke's thinking about doing this. Should he?
Sun Jul 08, 2007 4:15 am
Hell no. NYK fans will start lynching. I think Lee is a fan favorite.
Besides why bother getting Artest when Zeke has "Rodman and Artest combined" in Renaldo Balkman?
Sun Jul 08, 2007 4:23 am
lee for ron sounds like a sweet deal for NY
ron could start immediate at SF position...
but seems like kings r losing more in this trade, so i doubt this 2 happen unless pacakge deal
Sun Jul 08, 2007 2:31 pm
the last thing new york needs is more head cases. however this just goes to furthur prove my theory that the kings are trying to get all the white players in the nba.
Mon Jul 09, 2007 7:24 pm
are those the new knicks jerseys?
Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:09 pm
Lol, they look like a Tank top you buy at Big W or something.. I dont like lol
Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:22 pm
I don't think the Knicks have any plans to change jerseys. I think that's just some really badly done replica.
The Knicks are one team that shouldn't ever change their jerseys, as least not anymore than a slight color change or m=playign round with the trims.

So I hear that Randolph isn't showing up for the veteran mini-camp or whatever. Doesn't sound like his attitude or work ethic is improving much yet. Have fun with him.
Sat Jul 14, 2007 3:49 pm
He's with another veteran, he's bonding with Eddy Curry over a bunch of BigMacs.

I'm pretty sure the Raptors are going to beat them to it.

LJ might be back says ESPN insider. Are they talking about Larry Johnson?

Yea but just doing community relations work or something like that is what I read.

Artest to NY? hmmm, sounds like one of the deals bound to happen but just isn't since the knicks said they weren't willing to part with Lee & Balkman.. but things happen... KG a celtic gives hope..
Curry
Randolph
Artest
Crawford
Marbury
pretty solid starting 5.. of course talent hasn't been the knicks problem since Isiah came to the knicks ( Layden had no solid talent...eisley..weatherspoon..shandon anderson.. just bad contracts)...it's been the team chemistry and ability for all to play and share the ball.
Sat Aug 04, 2007 8:10 am
That would be an amazing starting 5. But they shouldn't do it because then they would lose there depth on the bench. David Lee, Nate Robinson, Renaldo Balkman, Demetris Nichols, and Fred Jones all on the bench. Artest isn't worth 2 of those guys. If they were to trade anyone for Artest it should be Q Rich.... but I hope Isaiah doesn't trade for the self proclaimed" Tru Warier."
Sat Aug 04, 2007 9:06 am
on paper it looks like a damn good starting 5 who could challenge and beat anyone. in reality its 5 of the worst guys to have on a team. isiah would do better signing 12 guys off the streets of new york, they would have better chemistry and probably not as many mental issues.
Sat Aug 04, 2007 9:24 am
Atleast they'd pose somewhat of a challenge in NBA 2K8.
Oh no, that reminds me...I've got to start a Knicks Dynasty from scratch again.
Sat Aug 04, 2007 11:34 am
Well if they go with Balkman and nate+ pick
Curry / Randolph Morris/ Rose/Jerome James
Randolph/Lee/ Jeffries/ Rose
Artest/Jeffries/ Richardson/Wilson Chandler
Crawford/Richardson/
Marbury/ Collins /Crawford
Still not bad with Richardson. Jeffries off the bench and Collins also. Up front might be a bit weak, but that's why they have guards who can shoot to make up for it
It'd make more sense to trade Balkman since they a bit deep at the 3 position with Richardson and Jeffries still on the team.

Well that wouldn't really make sense then because they'd be trading a SF for a SF. lol
But yeah. It would be a good team on paper but they would lose two of their most energetic players. I would much rather have Robinson and Balkman then Artest. Artest made the Kings worse and his value is declining. If the Knicks are going to trade for anyone they should trade for a player that has a positive impact on a team not one who just stirs up conflict in the locker room. I just don't like Artest and I never have, and I don't want him on a soon to be prospering Knicks team.
Also in other news I heard the Knicks are thinking of sending their best pure shooter overseas for a year to clear some roster space, Demetris Nichols. The Knicks currently have 17 players on their roster and they are going to need to cut it down to 15 before the season starts. Although 3 of these guys are just going to be on the inactive list I would still rather have Nichols on that then in Europe so he could have some first hand experience on life in the NBA. And no I'm not just saying that because i've been watching him play since his freshman year in Syracuse and i'm an official Demetris Nichols fanboy, i'm saying this because he is really a good player and he would fill the void the Knicks need as a crunchtime performer. I've seen the Knicks many times while Jamal Crawford was injured and they had no one to go to down the stretch. They got a steal with Nichols and they better utilize him. Zeke could easily let go Malik Rose, Dickau, or Jerome James so I don't see why he's even thinking of shipping over one of there most prolific young players.
Sat Aug 04, 2007 7:34 pm
Keeping Nichols makes too much sense. Why would he want to do that?
I kinda have a love hate thing going on with isiah. once out of 4 chances, he'll do something that isnt bad. but then he fucks it up with the next decision he makes.
I really like the young guys we have and would rather get our ass handed to us for another year, develop Nichols and Morris, and get some more talent on the squad then trading the core away, keeping up this revolving door of over-priced has-beens that keep finding their way onto our roster.
