My thought is clear, dear: If we have a private conversation which came it public, by an onwer of a sport organization (mainly), and it's well known that this person is racist, this kind of thought and his words got be investigated, but the investigation gotta continue to understand all parts of the problem, to reach the biggest ammount of informations that's is possible to answer all kind of doubts about the fact.

The NBA is an example of a non prejudice kind of organization, so an onwer can never sustain such arguments without facing the consequences of it. I am not saying that you can't have the opinion you want it to, but you got accept that your freedom of speech and act, ends when others freedoms begin.

Imo, Sterling cross the barriers and is no longer an good example of leadership for a multi social and plural race sport organization, the NBA decision, based on what we know already is perfect and well did. We just don't have space for this kind of behaivors no more.
