My prediction - USA - wins every game, world champs. (Y)

The heck, I think USA still would stand the best shot at the world title even if they sent college kids.

Quarter Final

    Argentina def France

    Australia def Greece

    USA def Turkey

    Spain def Brazil

hey, are you kidding? australia def greece? Greece is by far better

Anyway, i want to point out 3 things about the 1st day of the fiba world championship...

1)Suspensions of fotsis and schortsianitis won't be a problem for greece in the first 2 matches... i hope they are ready for the important match against turkey...
2)China has found the next yao ming (yi yanlian)
3)Spain must play a lot better if they want to win the world championship...

Yi Jianlian is nothing like Yao Ming besides the fact that they are both Chinese

That was a training game for the U.S.A against the Croatians  And Kevin Durant is a KillerPlayer in my Eyes much better as the King from CAVS, eh no I mean the new HeatPlayer now LeBron

China vs. Greece was a good game, not bad from the ChinaTeam in the last quarter

Turkey muahah nice start my country (Y)

Sun Yue and Zhi-Zhi Wang are playing at China too.

Team USA really needs a guy who'll take the ball, get his teammates out of the way, and carry the offense.
Kobe was that guy in the Olympics. I hope Durant is that player for this tournament.

The biggest upset so far is France defeating Spain..

Yes... But this is the first match...without Pau Gasol. Believing that Spain will defeat others.

I'm not kidding. I'm dead serious. Australia can beat Greece.
Re: China, everyone knew that Yi was good for the national team. He always has been. It's no revelation. The question about him is whether he can be consistent.

Wang is good but old. Sun Yue sucks.

If Coach K keeps telling him to be more aggressive, maybe that will help. :)

It was an upset, got to give France credit for the win but you make it seem like it was totally totally unfathomable? France is a pretty good side.

The loss probably works in Spain's favour... they won't meet USA until Gold Medal match if USA is 1st in their group and Spain isn't 1st in theirs.

Wait for the US boys to meet a better team than Croatia. They will have problems against a good zone defense. KD's the only shooter in this team. Guys like Russell Westbrook and Andre Iguodala are not as useful in set plays as they were against Croatia when they were running. Oh and watch out Lamard Odom and Tyson Chandler, there are better bigs than the Croatian ones.

That is so wrong. Send a college team of the USA to the World Cup and watch them getting blown out against Argentina, Spain, Greece and Serbia (and some more ...).

I say again a training game for the U.S.A-Team  with more pressure

Slovenia has a pretty good team with Dragic, Udrih, Brezec, Nachbar, Lakovic and Slokar, so this is more then a training game.

I don't recall those guys being decent at defense. :|

They have firepower though, so on some good shooting night (which today wasn't), they can compete with anyone.

Joel Anthony had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks, but Canada lost to Lithuania by 2, 70-68. :(

Hell yeah, we beat Serbia in double OT. Phenomenal game by Jagla and Green. Bad calls by the refs in the end though.

Impressive win for Germany, especially considering they lost the rebounding 43-27.

Yeah, Serbias bigs did a good job, especially Perovic. Still they had a lot of turnovers and did not shoot the ball very well.
