I think the Spurs are still the most hated. R.I.P. SSOL

As long as there are teenagers, that thing will remain.

Talk about your heart-breaking losses. Such a shame about those Brad Miller free throws, but Paul Pierce came up big at the right time with that shot to force OT and then the final go-ahead basket. A great game on both sides though, despite Ben Gordon's struggles and Ray Allen fouling out. Competitive, down to the wire, overtime...naturally I'd have preferred a Chicago victory but they gave it all they had.
I didn't like the call Rose got late in the fourth quarter though when they called the foul on the drive but gave it to the Bulls on the side. Putting aside the fact a star call would've put a Pierce, Kobe or LeBron on the line in that situation, it wasn't even consistent with similar calls on both sides in this very game. I'm not going to pin the whole game on a referee's call especially since there was enough time left at that point for anything to happen and then Rose made an unforced error as they set up the play again, but that was a tough, tough break for the Bulls not getting the free throws on that play. Ultimately, Pierce came through at the right time and the Celtics outlasted them. Great game, but a disappointing result if you're a Bulls fan. Here's hoping they can go back to Chicago and force a seventh game!

Not on a subscription, I can't justify the cost. I'll get one every now and again.

I don't think it's just teenagers that hate the Lakers, if that's what you mean.

Well that was the 2nd time Rose tripped over himself, the play before that was very similar. He just lost footing or went limp in the legs and tried drawing it. At least, that is what me and unbiased Tommy Heinsohn saw.
Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:37 pm
Just out of interest, what did Heinsohn have to say about the foul at the end of OT? The face is part of the ball?

Kudos to Vinny Del Negro for trying for the flagrant call on that one too, though there was no way they were getting that even if Miller did loose a tooth. Too much of a play on the ball and it's not like he wrapped him around the neck, a nice try but unfortunately for the Bulls it wasn't a flagrant.
Wed Apr 29, 2009 1:04 pm
All he kapt saying over and over was "Who hit him?"
So he wasn't contesting that
man, he was going off about the Bull's barely legal rolling screens down the stretch and got really pissed after Miller laughed when he drew that 6th foul on Ray Ray

He's a Celtic through and through, you've got to admire that. The Heat probably have the best announce team with their SUN Sports guys when it comes to avoiding bias.
Wed Apr 29, 2009 1:55 pm
i know what you mean about the rolling screans. i am surprised they have not been called
Wed Apr 29, 2009 2:07 pm
I guess they're intent on letting the two teams play, though that defeats the point of having rules in the first place and makes it look worse when they do finally make the call as it's inconsistent, even if it's correct. I think the bottom line is that there's missed calls on both sides but when it came down to it both teams had the opportunity to win the game and it was the Celtics who had their guy make the big shot.
Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:53 pm
Is this game has always been going into OT? If it is. I think I need to watch on of this game.
Wed Apr 29, 2009 7:12 pm
Fuck you Paul Pierce.

What a miserable freethrows by Brad Miller, but cant really help it considering all the pressure he's got on him.
Wed Apr 29, 2009 8:59 pm
Was anyone else surprised that Marbury passed on that wide open three? The play that Rondo air-balled

That's a word for Pierce. Sorry Celtic fans.

You can't remove pressure from every player in the playoffs, no matter how seasoned a player is. Miller is a veteran come playoff time, but still, he missed it. Chicago will come back in Game 6 and force a sudden death Game 7.

Oh come on!
Are you kidding me!
Damn you Paul Pierce!!
I can't just believe it.
Again in the last shot!
I'm very dissapointed about the result.
we deserved more.
pelayo14, you're very right.Though Miller is a veteran he can't be calm as the game is on the most crucial period of it.
Never Mind.
GO Bulls! And the game 7 is very possible.(there we can win at BOS)At last

VDN came up with a brilliant play at the end. not sure who could make ft's after getting raped in the face. even Gordon missed free throws after falling on his back in game 4 (on espn, john hollinger had a good article criticizing the coaches decisions made in this series)
i also like the small lineup the bulls are employing. Salmons sure seems to like it. and if i'm not mistaken, they seem to not get killed on the boards
if the refs start calling the bulls for illegal screens they need to calling 3 second violations on the celtics when they're on offense
you can say that every foul made is technically a play made on the ball. but whatever.....and no, andrew, didn't get any tickets.
another classic game. too bad this can't be a best of 12 series
Thu Apr 30, 2009 10:14 am
I liked the small lineup as well, not something they can run all the time against anyone but it was doing pretty well for stretches of Game 5.

Brad Miller just sucks. A Flagarant wouldn't have made a difference. That was a really weak layup attempt. He's a big man and anybody who has ever hit a big shot knows you have to go up strong with two hands.
Thu Apr 30, 2009 10:29 am
It certainly didn't compare to the timely jumpers he made in the fourth quarter.

It would've meant Del Negro could've sent Miller out of the game due to his injury and chose who took the free throws. If he had done that without the flagrant, then Rivers would've been the one to pick the shooter.
I remember this happening in a Kings game where the opposing coach picked Jabari Smith to take the free throws and he nailed both. Despite practically never playing in the rest of the playoffs or something.
EDIT:
This game.

Man, I just woke up to see Ray Allen knock down that 3 and tie it. Nice defense on the following possession. Or, a nice fuckup by Brad Miller again. I hope ESPN replays this game.
