Alright, as the resident Pistons fan here I feel obligated to bump this baby to the first page.

Draft is in a week and the possibility of DeMarcus Cousins falling to number seven is so close I can taste it. If they can get him they can resign Ben Wallace, force Cousins to move in across the street and be with Ben 24/7, and work on trying to trade either Tayshaun or Rip.

Rip is probably wishful thinking, but I think Tay (and his expiring contract) could be a valuable trade piece. Darren Collison and Peja for Tayshaun and Chris Wilcox maybe?

I Really wouldn't like to see Rip leave, neither Ben.
Rip is still decent, giving him the time,Ben is still somewhat good, though i think he will retire.
I Really don't see Cousins falling so low in the draft, great for the Pistons if he does though.
And hell,i really dislike the Jerebko kid, looks like he has a knack for rebounding, but he is sooooo raw on offense..
I Honestly don't see Pistons make the playoffs this upcoming season, unless a big trade is done.

You've got a 25 year old volume shooter and a 32 year old volume shooter, both with big contracts, you have to roll with the younger one. Not to mention Rip was always such an efficient scorer, but last year and two years ago after Chauncey left he started shooting off the dribble more and wasn't efficient at all. Contender may like his scoring ability. If they trade him it's going to be trading for another bad contract that fits better with the team, not any sort of cap relief.

Ben is much more of an impact on the team than Rip at this point. With Ben the Pistons were 25-44... without they were 2-11. If he didn't play for the team last year they could have been epically awful. If they make some sort of move to show improvement I could see him coming back, although it will probably involve trading one of his bffs.

I Really don't see Cousins falling so low in the draft, great for the Pistons if he does though.

If the Warriors looks big at #6 and goes with the passing big man (Monroe) that fits their offense he'd be right there waiting.

... so, despite the fact that he's one of the only players on teh team outside Wallace who has any sort of constant motor and want to play hard 24-7 his offensive limitations make you dislike him? He's actually got some potential to be a solid rotation guy. Solid shooter, can get to the rim, can rebound well for a small forward, and he plays smart. He's a good fit if you're into the whole "Detroit's a tough city, we need hard-working blue collar players". He's only 23, he has plenty of time to improve.

I do not say he has no potential,i just really don't like him in the Starting lineup. At all.
He would be a great bench energy and hustle guy, somewhat like Amundson in Suns.

Draft Express wrote:The Timberwolves are offering Jefferson along with the 16th and 23rd picks to the Pistons for Prince, forward Chris Wilcox and the No. 7 pick. That would give the Timberwolves the fourth and seventh picks, while Detroit would be left picking 16th, 23rd and 36th.

If Joe D doesn't take this I'm going to die. This gives the team true big man who can rebound and score down low, something they desperately need. They're also getting 2 more draft picks, meaning a chance to get a PG in Eric Bledsoe at 16 and another big man like Whiteside/Brackings/Lawal.

I mean, the only guy in the draft that can actually help the Pistons next year and beyond is Cousins. I'd like to think he could fall to #7, but even with the probable "WHY PICK HIM" selection in the top 5-6 picks I don't know that he slips by Sacramento.

My birthday present from the basketball gods has to be a legitimate big man, I'd be so happy

Joe D is going to turn that down so fast. It's an obvious deal. Get yourself out of the mid lottery where it's maddening to make picks and where good bigs never come from, bring in a big guy WHO CAN SCORE, and get two back-half first rounders where Joe D is basically a god at making picks from.

No, of course it's not happening. The Wolves could say "we'll take back Rip and give you Sessions and Brewer too" and he'd still turn it down.

Buzz kill, stop it. Apparently the Draft Express guy said he doesn't think Detroit goes for it.... I honestly have come to the conclusion that he is embarrassed by last season and he till thinks his guys from last year, when healthy, can win games, so he's going to keep this shit hole together for another half season till they're 12-30 at the All-Star break next year.

If this gets denied, like my mind tells me it will, Joe had better try to trade anything on this roster for Cousins tomorrow.

I'm highly excited for this draft as a seen a clear outcome - Detroit come out of the day with a decent big - whether it be Favours, Cousins or Jefferson - ideal or Udoh and Monroe - servicable. We're very unlikely to completely bust and end up with a nobody. I think Joe D should DEFINITELY do the deal proposed with Al Jefferson - but he won't - he genuinely, and stupidly at that, believes that Detroit can win games win their current side. Heading over to the US tomorrow (on draft day) for the first time as an Australia - highly excited! Will be sure to stay hot on this.

Just hope Joe D makes the right move for this organisation - and if that means a reshuffle - well I'm cool with that.

When was the last time LeBron ever thanked the fans in Cleveland or Miami with a full page ad? Never.

He's the GOAT on and off the court. I can't say this enough.

I'm curious to see where this "Phil Jackson as unpaid adviser" leads.

http://www.detroitbadboys.com/2013/5/3/ ... -tom-gores
Still, this smells like more. Why would Jackson, knowing he could very well be permanently advising/running another team, advise the Pistons to make a quality hire, simply out of the goodness of his heart and nothing more, especially if that hire could potentially be someone he would want to hire elsewhere?

DBB commenter mike223 added in the comments:

Phil has a monumentous legacy to protect. Why would he put his name to a gig if he wasn’t serious about it and didn’t think there was potential there?

If this completely fails with our next coach, Phil will take a little blame you would think, and for someone trying to get a job in a front office elsewhere, I'd think he would be taking this very seriously, especially doing it for free. And you’d think it would be something he’d want to see through and get credit for

This is reportedly the role he wanted - an advisory one with the influence to shape a team's coaching staff and personnel decisions. He has now been given the pro bono opportunity to help shape the Pistons' coaching staff. Are other personnel decisions to follow?

It's a strange and interesting arrangement, with that comment raising a valid point. I guess this is his chance to impress without making a commitment, in case a better situation comes along.
