Ariza to the Wizards for Austin Rivers and Oubre. I like this deal for the Suns as they get a young player and a starting PG for a guy they literally signed just to trade. Washington meanwhile gets out of River's contract and helps them get to the 8 seed.
The three team trade debacle is hilarious. Grunfeld trying to get the wrong Brooks reminds me of an old association story of mine where Don Nelson accidentally traded for Carl Landry, thinking he was Landry Fields

All the credit in the world to Dirk Nowitzki for accepting a bench role and being a mentor as his career wraps up, but it's kind of tough to see him coming off the bench and playing eight minutes per game. He was still pretty effective last year playing around half a game, appearing in 77 games and starting all of them. I hope he does get a bit of a run this season and at least gets to start on occasion, similar to Patrick Ewing in his final year in Orlando. It's obviously about the future in Dallas, but I reckon Dirk still has a bit left in the tank. Once again though, hats off to him for accepting that role and doing his part as a mentor to the future core players.

Suns owner is a douchebag for not trading Ariza to the Lakers. Someone just sounded bitter and seemed hell bent on keeping the Lakers out of the conversation. That's fine, as keeping KCP allows them to stay flexible for the eventual(?) Anthony Davis trade

This is the first in Dirk's career coming off a major injury plus surgery and not getting into training camp, he probably needs some in-game conditioning but with the way the Mavs bench playing especially Maxi Kiebler, his role is still unknown.
As a Dirk fan I'm on the fence. I want Dirk to play but with the Mavs bench being constantly good and a shot of a lower playoff seed, I don't know.

I guess either way, he now officially has the record of most seasons played with one team.

Take that Kobe. Next up is LeBron surpassing Kobe in the most career points list.

Can't fault Harden. You got to believe in your own product when you sell it.

Despite the running gag on social media of anything unrelated to James Harden resulting in Harden being awarded free throws, he's actually second to Embiid in attempts this season. Clearly, the referees have more trust in The Process.

Embiid's played in four more games.
Wow, never expected Andrew to be exposed as part of The Harden Conspiracy.

Rating the Xmas games from 1 to 10
Bucks @ Knicks - 6/10. The Greek freak is always a nice sight for the sore eyes the way he bullies his way to every field goal made, but the Knicks had little to offer by the end of the game. Found myself reordering the apps in my phone most of the time
Thunder @ Rockets - 8/10. It went down to the last 90 seconds. Classic Harden drawing fouls and pulling step back 3s on his way to a 40+ pts game. Classic Westbrook spreading the Christmas joy and getting technicals on Christmas day ... and not attempting a half court wide open 3 point shot with 4 seconds left in the first quarter because he wouldn't want to hurt his stats.
76ers @ Celtics - 10/10. Nice game from Embiid, revenge block on Tatum there. Even better game from Uncle Drew. Maybe he will retire as the most clutch player ever. OT got me super hyped. Feel bad for the 76ers, I guess you can't go against Kyrie when he is shooting from that top right area above the 3pt line. He pulled 2 in a row with Butler all over him and basically he is a stud.
Lakers @ Warriors - 9/10. It had the narrative, it had the drama with LeBron going down with an injury and of course it had the good win against evil by a big margin. I felt over satisfied and that felt good.
Jazz @ Trailblazers - 5/10. Who wants to see a 30 pts blowout game for the last Christmas day game? Would've preferred the Raptors @ Heat game from today to take place instead of this mediocre match up. It was nice for the first half though.

Blazer-Jazz game sucked but fuck watching the Miami Heat this season. At least the former matchup had the potential to be exciting.

That's pretty good.

Fuck both of those teams. We got the Kings back, though

Terrance Ferguson had a crazy block attempt today. Luckily he didn't hurt himself on the landing.

That really is some terrible officiating.

Cp3 said they were doing the bird box challenge during the game lmao
Sat Jan 05, 2019 7:47 pm
A good call about a bad call, that one.
Mon Jan 07, 2019 4:41 am
Is it an overreaction that those refs should've just been fired on the spot? We're all human, but this is just blindness.
Mon Jan 07, 2019 10:36 am
I mean, it's a little harsh, but I don't necessarily disagree. It's something to look into at the very least; there's human error, and then there's that.
