That was a very exciting game. I could not decide who I wanted to see come up with the win. 4th quarter was great. Props to Durant because he had an incredible game, it was a shame GSW blow his 12-point lead with him in the bench.
PD: Irving is really clutch, despite his not so great shooting performance. And bad game from Curry, who surprisngly is averaging 11 points on Christmas' games. Maybe he is muslim.

Aldridge with 20 points and 9/9 from the field at the end of the 1st.

Doesn't take long for them to appear these days.

I like these OKC Christmas jerseys more than their regular ones.

Certainly better than the infamous "Thudner" alternates.

I am convinced that Irving had some kind of awakening since game 2 of the finals
Either that or he brings his A game for the warriors
His off the ball defense on Curry is a game changer.
And then there's his assortment of moves on offense
Lue should just sit Irving next game vs warriors leaving Kerr baffled on how to stop Irving/get Curry going

He's a talented player, no question. Is he a franchise guy? I'd say he's probably more suited to being a star sidekick, but he might grow into a more viable number one when LeBron leaves Cleveland (however that may ultimately happen), or if LeBron passes the torch and transitions into more of a supporting role, a la Tim Duncan. For now, he plays his part very, very well.

while i am heaping praise on Iriving for his efforts against GSW... i would have to agree he is not a franchise player. maybe not even a franchise "side kick". his stats on both sides of the ball pale in comparison to the best guards in the league today.

Another day of amazing triple-double action in the NBA.
Harden goes for 53p/16r/17a and Westbrook grabs a triple-double before half time (3rd fastest in history).

Bucks rookie Malcolm Brogdon also had one, 15 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists

Giannis quietly becoming a superstar. Probably the best player casual NBA fans have never heard of
Thu Jan 05, 2017 6:40 pm
Giannis is probably the future of the NBA along with Towns, and with Jabari at his side I am sure they will find a terrific duo teams will have trouble matching with the players of same size, athleticism and mobility. They both need to increase their shooting percentatges though.
Oh, and terrible missed 5 seconds back to the basket on that Knicks game. You just do not create rules to ignore them during the last minute.

The NBA now isn't the worst, but going back and watching the mid to late 80's, 90's and early 2000's basketball... I miss those days. The competitive spirits of the teams, the going at eachother hard, the pride. Less complaining as well. I grew up watching basketball all through the 90's (and a little in the late 80's). The fundamentals were amazing.
I look at players like Patrick Ewing, and man... what he could do now in this NBA. He averaged 28 and 10 against the likes of Hakeem, Robinson etc. No center even comes close to him in todays NBA.
I'm saying this in this thread, because I've watched even more NBA this year than over the past several. And there are just so many weak talents in the league, guys who just look uncomfortable being out there sometimes. Guys with completely one dimensional games, or with no killer instinct. This isn't all, but it's a lot.
For anybody that says the speed of todays games (or athletiscm) is more than the 90's, you are sadly mistaken, and I would recommend brushing up on your 90's basketball. The players in the 90's were also freakishly athletic (sometimes more so), and the speed of the game was amazing.
I watched Larry Birds 60 point game vs the Hawks like 5 times over the past week, insane. No flopping, no bitching, straight basketball awesomeness.
Also, if you guys are bored, watch Jordans 50 point timeline, 2.5 hours of greatness.

Well said. I think the lack of elite teams hurts right now as well. You've got the Warriors, the Cavs, and everyone else. The Spurs are up there, but they've run out of steam in the Playoffs the last couple of years. The Rockets are off to a good start, but they're still unproven over the course of an entire season and Playoffs. Beyond that, it seems like we're just marking time until the inevitable Finals rematch.
As I said in another thread, I think the fact that the 80s and 90s is considered to be a golden era has led to a big backlash against it. People are so aware of the nostalgia filter, that they don't believe anything was anywhere near as good as described. We can of course get too carried away praising it, but it was pretty damn good.

Agreed, that's something that's always puzzled me as well. While you never want a questionable or ticky-tack call to decide a game in the waning moments, if ever there's a time to make sure the rules are being adhered to and that calls are correct, it's in crunch time.
"This game/part of the game is important; better throw out the rulebook!" I don't think I'll ever quite understand that line of thinking.

How do you guys think Russ and KD will play together in the All Star game?

Nvm, giannis is 2ND to LeBron in east forward voting

Really how different is it now compared to when the bulls were winning?
Fri Jan 06, 2017 6:40 pm
I was a fan of the team that was winning.

That aside, there were more 50 and 60 win teams in both Conferences, more teams of relevance and interest, more perennial heavyweights on both sides. Even if a couple of teams were prevailing more often than not, there were some epic clashes, great rivalries within the Conferences.
Fri Jan 06, 2017 7:13 pm
How long will we keep the fan voting in the all-star game? Because right now Zaza has more votes than Cousins, AD and Leonard, and Curry more than Harden and Westbrook.
You either change the All-Star concept to a "weekend for the fans" where what matters is popularity or you keep the "excellence" tag to being an All Star and you erase fan voting, because this is getting ridiculous.
Fri Jan 06, 2017 7:40 pm
I've defended fan voting in the past, because it's yet to put anyone who really, absolutely, in no way, shape or form, unquestionably didn't belong at the All-Star game, into the All-Star game. However, it might actually happen this year, so I find myself beginning to change my stance on the matter.
