If in your opinion Tyrus can become a Shawn Marion like player, than i agree, Paxon IS god. (Y)

You should doubt Gordon's abilities more often, there seems to be a reverse jinx effect. :P 38 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and a block shooting 12/20 from the field (2/3 from beyond the arc) and 12/12 from the free throw line in a 108-97 preseason win. Granted, at the end of the day it's still just a preseason game though he did have some similar performances last season.

Which resulted in the Raptors' first preseason loss :x . This is starting to get ridiculous, ever since the Bulls traded Rose to the Raptors, they have never beat Chicago since the trade. While I'm at it, I'd like to know from the Bulls fans, where is Sefolasha on the Bulls' depth chart at the moment, and how different do you think his role will be by the end of the season?

Thabo should be in the regular playing rotation, getting minutes at PG, SG, and some SF.

i don't see him overtaking Duhon as the primary backup PG since Duhon is more steady, experienced, and a coach favorite. but since he is 6'7 with decent athleticism and long arms, he'll be seeing a lot of time on the court with Hinrich or Gordon

yeh, i find it a little weird that he has those physical tools but doesn't attack the basket that often. look at the guy- he's built like a tank

the last 2 games though- Gordon was attacking the basket regularly. against Minny he was terrible and against Toronto he was awesome. but yeh still at this point of his career- he seems more of a Ray Allen type then Arenas/Wade type

Personally i think its a move that has to be made. This guy IS the Bulls at the moment, and the way he has stepped up the last 2 seasons in the playoffs makes me sure this guy is a keeper. Then factor in his defense, leadership, and the ability to consistently nail jumpshots, and three's and thats basically why i think its critical to re-sign him as soon as possible, before other teams get a chance to make ridiculous offers.

ask and you shall receive. Bulls beat writer KC Johnson reported that the bulls resigned Kirk right before the deadline
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com ... -headlines

MIAMI -- Choosing security over stubbornness, Kirk Hinrich has accepted the Bulls' final offer on a long-term contract extension, according to league sources.

With the deadline for the negotiating window expiring at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Hinrich decided to sign the five-year deal rather than become a restricted free agent next off-season.

the Score said the deal was 4yr/$52 mil

lol where are the rest of the bulls fans. it's opening nite...

With the Bulls, where are they going with Ben Gordon? I've read that he's not the all-around type of player who could lead your team as a star but he's an exceptionally talented scorer and should be the Bulls' number 1 option on attack...

Are the Bulls gonna keep him coming from off the bench? Or will he get to start?

Wed Nov 01, 2006 2:37 pm

Sweet, couldn't be happier about the Hinrich extension, especially after tonights game.

Speaking of tonights game, heres my thoughts:
* Hinrich, after a slow start played beautifully. Strong defense, dropping shots, and setting up the offense nicely. Loved the feed to Tyrus and backdoor cut for the reverse layup.
* Ben Gordan struggled all game i thought
* Ben Wallace and PJ Brown locked down the paint
* Both Luol Deng and Chris Duhon impressed me
* Tyrus Thomas looked lost when he first got on, picking up 2 quick fouls before sitting. Then he returned later, had 2 blocks (one of which a big one on Shaq), 4 points on 2 put-backs, 5 rebounds and looked pretty good all around
* Thabo was very impressive, especially on defense and attacking the rim. He also showed some range with 2 long range jumpers
* Bulls were getting to the line with ease
* We are very deep. Skiles gave all 12 guys court time in the first half, and we kept improving our lead.

All in all, couldnt ask for a better start to the season.. CHI-CAGO! haha.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 4:28 pm

Well, that's what I call a good start.

Hell, I didn't know that happened. Seems like a tough player (Y)

Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:02 pm

Yep, he broke his nose. I read in the game recap he ran into the basket or something. He's a good dude :D

Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:16 pm

Nah he got hit in the face by Posey. Rookies seem to always break their noses these days lol.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:18 pm

Oh, I know he ran into Posey. But he also ran into the basket earlier and just walked off or something whic hrelates to Flite calling him tough. (Y)

EDIT: I still wanna know about Ben Gordon!

Nah, that bastard Posey hit him with his elbow. But yeah, TT is turning out to be all right. Put Ben and Tyrus into the same frontcourt and no one will even think of going to the basket. Post offense is important, but not as important as post defense.

One of things Bulls fans aren't talking nearly enough about is Hinrich taking better shots and hitting them. He did it for the whole preseason and it looks like the trend is going to continue.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:27 pm

And what about Thabo shooting 100% from the floor (Y)

Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:39 pm

Meh. It was mostly in garbage time. His time will come, though, he looks like a very talented player and I'm certain he's the missing ingredient that will make our backcourt trully special.

what a great game, this game renewed my faith in the NBA (Y) good to see the Heat go down after being gifted the title last year....

some impressions on the Bulls' players:

Wallace: definitely made an impression inside defensively & helped get the Bulls running....

Brown: helped their post defense immensely....a nice, solid pickup....an upgrade over Chandler....

Deng: showed nice length on defensive boards....solid J....sometimes can be out of control when putting ball on floor & going to hoop, but he's got some nice tools....I like Noci as SF in front of him, but Deng is an interesting prospect that could go either way....

Gordon: I was unimpressed with him....I really think he is more suited to a career 6th man role....forget that he had a bad game, I know he can be hugely clutch, but yeah, I guess his lack of height hurts....I think his career will be as a very good 6th man at most, but that's just IMHO....

Hinrich: let's hope he gets his jumper down like his college days & if he does, it's going to be a big season for him....

Nocioni: struggled tonight, looks like he's got an injury to his arm that he's playing through....we'll see a lot better from Nocioni, big part of Bulls' team....

Thomas: it's hard not to like the kid, although with how he attacks the offensive glass, you just know he's gonna get knocked around (& hurt) a lot....at the moment he's a player that can help the Bulls on the defensive backboard, blocking shots & making hustle plays....I like Thabo better at the mo, but yeah, how about that putback dunk, I couldn't stop

Sefolsha: we all love Thabo, we loved him from the moment we saw his highlight packages on draft day....he seems to be where everyone thinks Arizona's Marcus Williams can become....it's still early & it's best not to jump to any conclusions, but I like the Bulls of the future with Thabo as SG & Gordon out the door....

Khryptonite: the Russian is very solid & I think the Blazers were foolish to give him away....that's just the kind of solid forward the Blazers need, not some Darius Miles or Travis Outlaw losing them games....crazy....the Bulls were always going to take Thomas, whether at 2 or 4, didn't matter, Blazers are crazy....I like Khryptonite though

Duhon: he was very hot tonight, but aside from that, he really has worked on his jumper which is good to see....a good backup PG....I think he can play a Howard Eisley-like (Jazz version when he backed up Stock) role to this team....

Griffin/Allen: solid role players....

overall, great game to watch :P

Great news about Hinrich. (Y)

I had to avoid the Forum all day since Fox Sports Australia showed the game and as I was at work I didn't want the result spoiled. ;)

It was a shame to see Ben Gordon ice cold in this one but it's hard to be disappointed with the result; the biggest win over a defending champion on opening night in NBA history, easily eclipsing the Warriors' 15 point victory over the Lakers in 1989. Hinrich and Duhon were on fire.

The defense looked great, I loved their hustle. A 49-29 advantage on the boards is crazy. I know it's just one game but this looks like a better Bulls team; they looked much more crisp offensively, attacked the basket aggressively and their defense led to baskets more often than not from the second quarter onwards. It may not go down as a classic in the grand scheme of things but I for one still found it highly enjoyable. A great start to the season.

I agree, I stuck clear of NBA Talk, as well as all basketball websites and Sportscenter so I could see game without it being spoiled....I'm just glad they showed whole game & ring ceremony & everything & didn't skip forward in the game....they just cut the ads down

but yeah, I agree, was a very enjoyable game to watch....it's always good to catch the new rookies early on, & both Bulls' rookies showed great flashes of talent :P

all in all, this is a very hard Bulls team to dislike....looking from players 1 through 12 & their coach, I don't dislike any of them, in fact I like a good majority of them....I really hope the Bulls take Central Division this season :P

Thu Nov 02, 2006 3:51 am

What a difference attacking the basket made, both from slashing by Hinrich/Noc/Deng, but also from offensive boards.

Can't imagine how strong they'll be with Gordon in form again.

But that Duhon...is this going to be a breakout year for the guy?

Thu Nov 02, 2006 6:09 am

good win by the bulls. tyrus thomas was impressive. the kid's an athletic freak. sad to see that wade was the only one who showed up for the heat. anyone else sick of shaq's excuses saying how they aren't in championship form yet, but he/they'll be there when it counts the most? that's the same excuse you used last year buddy; you're just lucky you had people named wade, bavetta, and salvatore on your team.

What? Yes, he said that last year, and how did that turn out? Gotta say I don't see your point.

this happens every year. they lose a game early in the season and he justifies it by saying he or they will be there during the playoffs. sorry shaq, but i'm pretty sure you disappeared last year in the post season. i'm not doubting the fact that they'll end up in the playoffs, but jesus christ, come up with something new. you're out of shape, admit it.

Thu Nov 02, 2006 11:59 am

Well at half time against Orlando, it doesnt look too good..
At least Gordon is scoring though.. Thabo is again 100% from the floor for his 2 points..
Hinrich has 11 on 4/4 shooting aswell.. But Dwight Howard seems to be controlling the game..

Or thats what i gather from looking at the box score..

Thu Nov 02, 2006 12:35 pm

Well, i wasnt here yesterday either. But it was a great, great day. Kirk's extension news was fantastic, the win was also fantastic. tyrus thomas and thabo were both very impressive.

Chris Duhon was outstanding. He will be the best backup point in the league this year. He's followed it up with a fairly decent performance against the magic as well.

Thu Nov 02, 2006 1:09 pm

Not such a great game today; at least Gordon's shot was falling.
