Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Yeah i knew they were gonna be on against LA. I was away from Friday morning till Monday night though, so i didnt see it till then... Still better than nothing as Andrew has been saying and i made sure not to find out the result. Was a quite frustrating game... Anyway JR's 11 3's against Sactown yesterday cheered me up a lil...

Btw Andrew your sig is from the moment on Scrubs where they're all wearing those shirts right?

EDIT: Seems i've snagged myself the top of the page twice in a row. (Y)

That's the one. I'm getting a little bored of that though so I'll probably change it soon.

So, here come the Playoffs and One still isn't available on Southern Cross yet, so I'll mostly have to make do with ESPN Australia's offerings. Oh well, not too bad once we reach the NBA Finals.

^These are apparently the games for ONE HD this week anyway:
Mon 10:00am Heat v Hawks
Fri 12:00pm Jazz v Lakers

Also dunno if any of you guys have ever bought NBA League Pass, but im thinking about getting it for the Playoffs ($40 odd Aussie) and i was wondering if you guys have any idea on the amount of Bandwidth it'll take up?
Andrew you must have a faint idea, you know the internet well enough to be running this joint.

This might help (From International League Pass FAQ):
9. How much bandwidth does the viewer use?

It will vary between 0.5Mbps 1.0 Mbps. Actual bandwidth usage may change during the program being watched depending on the amount of the video data transferred.

Does that mean 1mb is downloaded every second?

EDIT: Someone else said this, does it sound right?:
The bandwidth use is almost 8MB (8MByte and not Mbit) for one minute, so you can say 1GB for a "2 hours" game.
With the premium package, based on the Test video, it will use 125% of the SD bandwidth, so almost 1.25GB, maybe a little bit more.

That sounds about right for the quality you'd be getting.

The HD one? Damn do you have a big download limit...? And yeah Finals, unless they show the Finals on Foxtel here in which case they'll likely be a blackout, as Foxtel (ESPN Aus) has the rights to the games... So yeah games that are on TV here aren't supposed to be on League Pass...

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

I have the 50gb monthly TPG limit. So watching enough wouldn't be a problem, particularly if i'm just concentrating on a single series in particular. I'm just worried such a high quality stream might struggle with my connection. Might go with SD if this is the case.

I'm guessing ESPN Australia will have the Finals as usual.

Hey bro, next game you watch could you do me a favour and check your download usage before and after the game, to give me an accurate indication of how much a full game takes up..? Im hoping that it doesn't take up as much as people say it does...
Im hoping you watch a game before the Denver game tomorrow, so you can tell me it takes less than 1 GB and i'll be able to get it in time for the Nuggets game... (Assuming if you buy it, you can watch pretty much straight away...?)

Yeah you can watch pretty much the moment you purchase with paypal or bank cards. I'll be waking up at 6 to catch the lakers match so if i remember i'll checkout the usage for that one dude.

Sun 26th: Lakers @ Jazz, Game 4

All TBA beyond that.

Yeah i had a look at the online Austar guide last night, was hoping to see a game today as i had it off, but no luck..
Good to see we dont just get the one series thought (Y)

Yes, that tends to be ESPN Australia's trick. Mind you, the Spurs aren't as likely to go deep in the Playoffs this year so if they bow out early we should see some more variation.

Lol i was watching Game 1 live aswell... Also after Denver's game 1 display i wanted to watch the match without knowing the result, so i woke up at 5amthis morning and downloaded game 2 and watched it before school... Brilliant match and the quality was great, way better than NBA LP, obviously not better than ESPN HD on TV though... New Foxtel Magazine came today, here's what it has, plus i added June:
I added the Times in EST so when they get closer we can work out who will be featuring...

Saturday May 2nd: First Round Game 6 (12pm which is a 10:00pm EST game)
Tuesday May 5th: Conference Semi Finals Game 1 (12:30pm which is a 10:30pm EST game)
Saturday May 9th: Conference Semi Finals Game 3 (12:30pm which is a 10:30pm EST game)

Friday June 19th: NBA Finals Game 7-If Required (11am which is a 9:00pm EST game)

Im hoping Denver reach the conference finals and that all those Conference Finals Games listed are West :)
EDIT: Found this:
- TNT: Eastern Conference Finals until 2016
- ESPN: Western Conference Finals until 2016

So hopefully if Denver get to the Conference Finals all games will be shown on ESPN and if were lucky all the Eastern CF will be on ONE HD as they show TNT games...

EDIT 2:
and this is apparently the One HD Schedule:
1 Sun 19-Apr-09 Miami/Atlanta Game 1 8:00 PM TNT
2 Thu 23-Apr-09 L.A. Lakers/Utah Game 3 10:30 PM TNT
3 Sun 26-Apr-09 Portland/Houston Game 4 9:00 PM TNT
4 Thu 30-Apr-09 First Round Game 6* 7:30 PM TNT
5 Sun 3-May-09 First Round Game 7* 3:30 PM ABC
6 Thu 7-May-09 Conference Semi Final Game 2 10:00PM ESPN
7 Sun 10-May-09 Conference Semi Final Game 4 7:30 PM TNT
8 Thu 14-May-09 Conference Semi Final Game 6* 10:00PM ESPN
9 Wed 20-May-09 Eastern Conference Final Game 1 8:00 PM TNT
10 Fri 22-May-09 Eastern Conference Final Game 2 8:00 PM TNT
11 Sun 24-May-09 Eastern Conference Final Game 3 8:00 PM TNT
12 Tue 26-May-09 Eastern Conference Final Game 4 8:00 PM TNT
13 Thu 28-May-09 Eastern Conference Final Game 5* 8:00 PM TNT
14 Sat 30-May-09 Eastern Conference Final Game 6* 8:00 PM TNT
15 Mon 1-Jun-09 Eastern Conference Final Game 7* 8:00 PM TNT

Wouldn't that be nice if we got every Conference Finals game...

Thanks for the update. They seem to alternate each year and they showed the ECF last season so I'm not surprised that it's the WCF this year. So long as they can mix it up a bit through the first round and conference semifinals.

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Thu Apr 30, 2009 6:11 pm

Alright Andrew, here's one for you:
One HD have a game listed at 5:30 AM Monday and the description says Round 1 Game 7 (If Needed)
Now 5:30 AM is 3:30 PM in America and on that day there are 2 games listed so far, both on ABC. There is Miami v Atlanta Game 7 (If Necessary) and Denver vs Dallas Game 1. Now Denver is scheduled to play at 3:30 PM and Atlanta at 1:00 PM. So assuming Miami wins at home and it goes to 7. Do you think One HD will stick to their timeslot of 5:30 AM (Denver game) or adjust it to 3:00 AM, so it stays true to the description, which promises a game 7? Now obviously im hoping Miami lose and One HD keep the time slot and show Denver, but if they dont, im hoping they'll still keep the 5:30 AM Game.

What do ya reckon?

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Thu Apr 30, 2009 7:18 pm

I suppose like any programming it's subject to change but I'd be inclined to think they'll be showing Nuggets/Mavericks if that's the advertised timeslot.

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Sat May 02, 2009 6:11 pm

Man im so fucken pissed off right now. I had the Boston v Chicago game 6 recorded, but for some dumb fucking reason the program i recorded after it didnt record so i get to see until the end of regulation and miss all 3 fuken Overtimes.
Then i check that Monday 5:30 AM timeslot on One to see if they update it to see what game is showing and the cunts are showing a replay of Boston v Chicago Game 7. Only 24 hours after it's shown Live on ESPN Sunday Morning. Fuuuuuuuuck.
Then i look through the schedule and they have 1 game all week on Friday. Fucking pathetic. ESPN shits all over ONE HD in the playoffs... half the time One HD have some problem with their broadcast and spend 20 minutes showing NBA 360 and then return with the game broadcasting in SD. They can suck my dick.

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Sun May 03, 2009 1:11 am

They probably don't want to though....

I've been pretty happy with ONE HD so far. Better than what we had before anyway! (Y) Lookin' forward to Bulls v Celtics tomorrow at 10am saaaawwwwwweeeeeeeeeeet

I don't know, ESPN Australia's coverage could still be better too. They're not showing Game 7 here live, though I suppose they didn't expect a Game 7. And people do love their European rugby. Of course, I'd like to be able to get One in the first place; I might be complaining about it too, though. Next season, I guess.

Atleast ESPN are giving us 2 games a week consistently... One HD promised 3 Live games a week and we dont get a game till Friday and yeah as i said- it's bullshit how it always goes SD instead of HD...
