Yes your right, Mitchell isn't the greatest coach ever but he certainly isn't the worst. IMO the award is given to a coach based on what he does for the entire team over the whole year. It is evident out of all other 29 coaches out there, Mitchell made the greatest impact on his team. The award isn't given to the coach who draws up one play to win one game, its given to the coach who makes the most positive impact on his team. Mitchell did that this year imo

Yosi has a problem with the Raptors and the fans, ignore him
I never had problems with the Raptors, I actually like this team. The fans are a different story, most of them I have a problem becasue of the VC issue, didn't mean to generalize the whole fans, but the idiots I was talking about are the majority.
By the way, Graham (1982) is two years younger than Boki (1980). And while Nachbar has strung together a nice season for himself Graham has only been able to play at a high level for a few games at a time, so I don't really know why you brought all of this potential talk into the discussion. If anything, Joey Graham hasn't shown much at all.
Agreed. Graham is not as evolved player as Boki, he is showing sparks, but he has a long way to go.
Sam Mitchell simply isn't a good coach. How many times have you seen the guy make horrid substitutions, make terrible plays out of time-outs and I've honestly never seen Mitchell run anything more complex than a simple pick and roll at the top of the circle. Good motivational skills and able to get the team behind his ideals? Yes. But everything else is clearly a no for me.
Everyone seems to be sold that Mitchell's a good coach, but I'm sorry I haven't bought into it yet. Until I see more off-ball movement in his offensive sets and learn how to run a half-decent zone offence, I can't compare him to the Van Gundys, Sloans, Avery Johnsons and any other coach that was nominated for COY.
This is right, if there was a GM of the year, the Raptor's GM would have won for sure. Mitchell is not a great coach, but an average one, with players like Bosh, Parker, Calderon, Ford, Garbo and Peterson you can't really go wrong... (actually if Isiah Thomas was the coach that was a different story

)

I think Mitchell winning had a lot to do with the voting of east vs west. There's many candidates in the west, but in the east, the only guy I can think of that coaches a team with an improved record is Mitchell. I don't think Mitchell deserves it, either. I hope Colangelo wins GM of the year, because he deserves it!

coaching cant be defined by wins and that's why Mitchell is a candidate. Hell, even Flip Saunders is a better coach today then 365 days ago. Having said that, the best coaches are still Pop, PJ, Riley, Sloan.

yosifun, I'm not sure which final your talking about, Championship, or Eastern), you really think with a healthy current Nets squad you can make it there
IF you have or had (cyanide or Cable, correct me on which one should be used

I'm not sure about
easily making it to the Eastern Finals, but they definately could do it if they were all healthy. Krstic is a fantastic Center for the Nets, who can take it to the post and shoot the outside jumper. Mikki Moore can do the same with a few 20+ point games this season, and he would provide an excellent spark off the bench for Krstic. New Jersey could at least make a series between any of those teams, and maybe even win against Chicago, Cleveland, or Detroit (haven't fared so well against Miami). Moving on, Game 2 is tonight. If the Raptors lose this one, it would be hard to get back in it for them.

TJ... clutch!
Now lets hope the Raptors can seal the deal.

Raptor fans have every reason in the world to boo VC. VC treated the fans like shit and like the old saying says, what goes around comes around. Just because Vince wants to act like the good guy and claim it is all in the past (An easy thing to do when it was your fault that caused the whole situation) doesn't mean he is a good guy.
Anyways, Raptors pull off the win tonight and thus force the series back to Toronto for a game 5 atleast. Tonight was huge.

VC and Kidd were amazing!! the Nets did a great job at defence.
The Raptors were too soft, Bosh was really weak.
If the Nets will win game 4 at home, I think the Raptors won't be a problem in game 6 at New Jersey (that's if they won't win game 5 at Toronto).
Sun Apr 29, 2007 2:44 am
I think last night was the best Jersey can play while I still think the Raptors havent played to 50% of their ability yet in the series. game 4 is huge to the series and if we don't win it could be night night to the season
Sun Apr 29, 2007 3:34 am
The Raptors really need to start playing like they have all season long. I'm starting to get frustrated with the point guards. They're not moving the ball. TJ Ford is playing too much Me-J Ford, shooting when he's supposed to be a playmaker.
Props to Jason Kidd. He put up incredible numbers: 16 points, 16 rebounds, and 19 assists. The 19 assists is what I want to see from the Raptors point guards.
Sun Apr 29, 2007 3:41 am
I just have to note the unoriginality of the Raptors PR office.
"Red Army"
WTF? That's communist China's troops.

Screw off

I love the idea, regardless of its association with Communism.
Sun Apr 29, 2007 11:12 am
I hope you were joking with the "screw off"... shadowgrin didn't offend you in any way
The name is really not original, should have come up with something like "Bleed Red" or something similar..
Sun Apr 29, 2007 11:25 am
I was joking with shadowgrin; we go way back
Bleed red, imo, is more unoriginal because we
do bleed red.
Sun Apr 29, 2007 6:07 pm
I'm sure they spent almost no time on it, or else they would've picked something that didn't honor the Soviet Union...
But then...there are those Che shirts that are so popular...so what do I know?

Please promise that you won't ever get a career in advertising, yosifun.
The idea of blood oozing out is a bad idea given recent incidents locally (US) and internationally.

I always want to beat-up persons who sport that, including those who have the swastika in their bags.

I just thought it would be a nice idea for the crowd to have black/white shirts with red "blood" on it and maybe a claw coming out of the shirt too, at least my idea has something to do with the Raptors as oppose to the communist idea...

damn, Raps are getting raped!
Mon Apr 30, 2007 12:07 pm
The Raptors played like shit, but what pissed me off the most was TJ Ford. He missed so many opportunities to find open guys, he keeps taking jump fakes instead of looking to pass, and he keeps taking jumpers instead of passing. Not to mention he kept turning the ball over. He took 16 shots in 21 minutes, and only made 6. Fricking ridiculous. I've been bitching about TJ since game 1 and he hasn't been doing what Jason Kidd has, being a pass-first point guard.
TJ's playing like Mike James

Wow, well Che and a swastika stand for completely opposite things.
The Che shirts are stupid because they cost so much and are made in sweatshops. Che would have been pissed that companies are making money off of his face and using deprived workers to make the shirts.
As for the Raptors, this was easily predictable. Just not really a quality enough team to win a playoff series.

How many of Carter's shots, layups.dunks, have come off of plays set up by Kidd? Most of them? Ok thought so.
Carter has been playing very good theres no question about that but if it werent for Jason Kidd he would not be putting up the numbers he is
