Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

I got home at 7 30 this morning and it was halftime of the Bulls/ Magic. Who chooses these lame games? The score was 62-38 at halftime. The Bulls are pathetic and we keep getting their games? If they are going to Jew us and only give 2 games a week, they should give us a matchup worth watching.

It could be possible that a certain website administrator who's also a Bulls fan might have barraged Foxtel with numerous e-mails requesting Bulls games.

I couldn't care less if all these boring Bulls games make one person happy. They're a horrible team and I have no idea why they're showing us those games. I'd rather watch a WNBA game then Chicago games right now.

Derrick Rose is probably the primary reason for that. They've done that before, add a few extra games featuring the first overall pick. Not necessarily a sound strategy to keep everyone happy, I'll certainly admit that.

Derrick Rose is an entertaining player to watch, but this Bulls team is horrible. There's so many other good teams to show. San Antonio, Dallas, Atlanta, Utah for example..

Well, looking ahead through March there's only one Bulls game so they're not going to dominate the schedule from here on. Three Jazz games, four Spurs games, four Mavericks games but not surprisingly no Hawks games; I would've thought there'd be at least a couple after last year's Playoffs. There's also six Lakers games, three Cavs games, four Magic games, two Knicks games, three Bucks games, three Heat games, one Nuggets game, three Warriors games, three Hornets games, three Suns games, five Celtics games and two Pistons games.

Some good matchups in there as well; Lakers/Spurs, Jazz/Lakers, Magic/Lakers, Mavericks/Suns, Hornets/Lakers, Spurs/Mavericks, Celtics/Cavs and Celtics/Spurs.

Two Knicks games and three bucks games isn't good either. Same with the Warrior selections.

I don't mind the variety of showing a few lesser teams too much but yeah, more marquee matchups would be nice. As we've said before, the lack of doubleheaders sucks because it always seems the game they don't show turns out to be the more exciting one.

Exactly. Denver is actually on ESPN Alot, but they're always the game that doesn't get shown. 1 Game in 6 months? Wtf? Im happy to see we're on in 5 days, but seriously 1 game is not enough for me. :(

On the plus side, they stand a good chance at qualifying as a top four seed in the West and seem in better shape to advance, so you might get to see a few games in the Playoffs...especially with Channel Ten launching their sports channel in April.

Yeah i know, but that's the thing. We're playing pretty good atm, yet we're receiving less attention/coverage than ever... This Channel 10 sports channel (or Channel 1 as it's gonna be called) is always in the back of my mind, but that's playoffs. We have to get their first and i want to see us get there. I always follow the Nuggets games- i'd be watching them live if it didnt chew up my download limit. If i had unlimited i'd buy NBA League Pass in a flash...

Absolutely, you'd think the Nuggets would've had priority over some other teams they've shown and will be showing this year. Heading into the season they still had Melo and AI together which would seem like an incentive to include some Nuggets games on the ESPN Australia schedule but apparently not.

What'd ya think about Melo's 3 at the buzzer to beat the Thunder. Took me 15 minutes to wipe all the white substance off the TV after i saw that on Sportscenter...

Missed it the first time but just saw it then, nice shot under pressure. It probably would've made a better game than the Lakers/Jazz contest despite it being more of a marquee matchup, though it probably would've been different had Boozer been playing and the Jazz more competitive from start to finish.

Heat/Nuggets was a lot better than I thought it might be with Melo out. Kleiza, Smith and K-Mart stepped up in his absence and it was a pretty fun game to watch, it felt a lot more competitive than the final score would suggest.

I loved the commentary of todays game. Celtics/ Cavs should be a good blockbuster.

Guide says we're only getting Mavericks/Suns.

Really?

Maybe that's for a different date that game then. But seriously, suns/ mavs ahead of celtics and cavs? Jesus.

Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:26 pm

Suns/Mavs is the second part of the doubleheader...I guess if Cavs/Celtics overruns we might see some of it. If so, let's hope the final three minutes of the game are exciting.

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:29 pm

We probably will, but seriously who is selecting these games? As I bitched about before, we got those Bulls games. Now they select Suns/Mavs ahead of Celtics and Cavs? God ESPN sucks balls here.

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:33 pm

Yeah that one's a puzzle. Three years ago, Mavs/Suns would've been the obvious choice given the strength of both teams and the fact they matched up in the Playoffs a couple of times but given the Celtics and Cavs went seven games in the Playoffs last year, have two of the best records in the league right now and stands as a much more interesting matchup, it's the more appropriate choice this time. If they showed more doubleheaders it wouldn't be a problem but as we've said before, it seems like we always get the less exciting matchup when there's a doubleheader and they only show one game.

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:37 pm

I don't mind the lack of double headers because they probably have a quota of games they can show, but ffs, they should put the best game available up there. And three years ago the Celtics/ Cavs would of been horrible! Wasn't it 3 seasons ago Boston had the worst record in the NBA?

Re: NBA on Foxtel - 2008/2009

Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:49 pm

They had one of the worst records in 2006/2007, yeah.

The lone Denver game so far and No Carmelo :( oh well always nice to watch a Nuggets win especially on the tv this time lol.

Tough call on the Saturday game. Celtics/Cavs turned out to be a bit anti-climactic and the Mavs/Suns game was a blowout too, though the first half was pretty exciting and the Suns did turn in an impressive performance. That's not to say it was the right choice per se but it doesn't seem as bad with the Celtics/Cavs game not being competitive throughout either.
