2008.

Guys over at RealGM say that Bulls would be trading PJ Brown for Ben Wallace, if Wallace decides to leave the Pistons. That would leave the Bulls with additional 12 million to spend on someone like Wilcox.

Ben Wallace has deal with Bulls
A league source tells ESPN.com that Ben Wallace has informed the Detroit Pistons that he is leaving the team and has accepted an offer from the Chicago Bulls thought to be worth $52 million over four years.

I'm not too sure about that deal. $13 million per year for four years? I guess it's not too bad considering what he has accomplished and the fact he's hardly broken down, but it's a lot to pay for a veteran player with a limited offensive game whose stats have been in decline the last couple of seasons. Still, they have the money to spend and they need to spend it this offseason. The fact Wallace is one of my least favourite players admittedly clouds my judgement on this one too, that's something I'll have to get over if the rumours are true.

Hopefully the rumoured Chandler trade will go through if Wallace is set to join the Bulls, since that should give the Bulls a little more cap space this year in the wake of Wallace signing and an expiring contract (or possibly two) for relief next offseason when it's time for Hinrich and Nocioni's extensions.

Well its really the only place the Bulls needed upgrading at. Chandler wasnt doing anything but fouling out on handchecks. Wallace with Pj Brown, Tyrus Thomas, and Songalia make alot better front court then they had last year. Plus they still have Sweetney and Malik Allen who were good for them late in the season. Now if they can get an actual shooting guard, if JR Smith can play there i think they have a really nice team. Whatever they do, Paxon is doing a great job turning this team around. Its almost amazing.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 11:36 am

Dont worry Andrew, you'll get over it when he's blocking everything that comes in the lane and playing like it's game 7 of the finals in a twenty point blowout.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 12:22 pm

Ya seriously. Unless he pisses of Shaq he'll probably make you happy.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 12:27 pm

Come on Andy, it's Ben Wallace! We've finally added a key post presence to our stellar team. The future is looking up! I am so excited right now. :D

Tue Jul 04, 2006 1:01 pm

This WOULD of been Darko's chance to shine..
too bad he isn't with them anymore

Tue Jul 04, 2006 1:08 pm

Hi,

Ben Wallace, Yes!

They'll probably trade the "stiff" Chandler now.

This is going to be an awesome team next year.

GM Paxon's doing a great job!! :headbang:

Hey, can some Bulls fan someone can update my Bulls roster for NBA Live 06??

Need some Rookie update.

:?: :?:

Who doesn't play for money in NBA. Besides, he's already won his ring.

Detroit should have awarded him for giving them a Championship rather than stiff'in him.

Really? Because Chicago's offer was only 1 million more per year then Detroit's. Plus the fact that with Ben Chicago has a hell of a lot better chance of winning a title then Detroit.

I think he absolutley hated Flip, and liked the situation he would be in for the Bulls.

Congratulations Bulls fans, you guys just put yourselves in the top 5 teams in the league. Thomas and Wallace controlling the paint is a nasty, sick thought. That's scary for me as a Pacers fan.

I wish someone would try to stiff me with a 12 million dollar a year contract.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 2:11 pm

Frankly, Ben Wallace never has showed he has any character much like all of the Pistons players.

I'm happy. I thought we'll be given the 60 million contract.

More moves will be made.

Edit: The contract is worth 60 million.

i think this is what it came down too....not money.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 3:34 pm

Big mistake for bulls....really over paid for Wallace...

Tue Jul 04, 2006 3:43 pm

At first I was skeptical about Wallace coming to my town. I thouhgt why spend money on an aging, limited veteran? But the fact is, you gotta spend it on who is available, and Wallace was the best FA out there. No doubt the Bulls will be a much better team.

However, unlike someone said, Chicago WILL NOT be a top-5 team. No way in hell! The Bulls have a lot of work to do.

Yes, they are loaded with young talent, but there is no chance that they'll be able to keep even half of them when contract extension time. If I'm John Paxson, I'm out there looking to bring in a big scorer (as well-rounded and deep as the Bulls are, they lack a star player who can put up 25 points a game, which I believe they need to get to the top). The Kevin Garnett trade scenario sounds like a dream to me. Also, Iverson seems to be on the table, and the Bulls could afford to give up 2 of their 7 or so rising stars for him.

Bottom line is Bulls need to acquire a cornerstone to their franchise if they wanna win big.

you make a lot of good points, especially about a franchise cornerstone.

O think the deal Pistons offered to Wallace was more than fair, and Bulls really overpaid to get him.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 3:45 pm

You guys are acting like Ben Wallace is thou Saviour of thy franchise.

Apparantly thats what it is these days in the NBA. Peja isn't worth $60 Million either ... but we pay it anyway. In order to get the big time free agents, you have to overpay. Or see it this way ... overpaying Wallace or Peja is not as bad as overpaying say Adonal Foyle or Troy Murphy or someone in that range. Both Peja and Wallace have played great basketball for years, they didn't just have one good season and cashed in on it. So it might be overpaying ... but not all that much.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 4:30 pm

It's a 4 yrs contract . It's not like Bulls are going to have his contract hanging aroud forever. And like I said, more moves will be made.

Tue Jul 04, 2006 4:42 pm

This is very good pickup. They dont need wallace to score they already have fire power in hinrich, gordon and deng.
