Re: Eurobasket 2011

Germany lost to Serbia 64 -74. Looking at the first 3 quarters Serbia deserved to win. Germany narrowed the gap to five points in the 4th when the refs (again) made some big mistakes that broke Germany's neck (an offensive foul against a german player that was obviously a flop and an foul against Nowitzki that was not whistled an the very next possesion.)
Even the german coach who usually refuses to comment on the refs performance said some clear words in a post game interview.
The chances that Germany would have gotten away with the win were small. Nevertheless the game should be decided by the players and not by the refs.
From what I've seen refs in generell have struggled during the tournament (not only in games involving Germany  )...

If you ask me FIBA refs have always been strange.Referees from WC 2010 were also a disappointment.

Turkey even lost to Poland, a rather weak opponent. ;)
But I'm curious about todays matches Turkey-Spain and Latvia-Germany.

Congratulation!

And btw Italy lost to Israel by one point 95-96! (Y)

So much for Italy. I really thought that they would dominate this year, having Gallinari, Belinelli and Bargnani. I guess 3 stars wasn't enough.

Spain defeated Lithuania by 12. Spanish were el caliente from behind the arc. Navarro was unstoppable, even when defended. They just outplayed us in the first half. I think the score would have been much closer if we would've split the Spanish defense and driven to the basket more often. The refs somewhat favored Spain. I agree - the refs are horrible in this tournament.

The funny thing is, our oracle Lazdeika the Crab has been correct for the past 4 matches. Let's see if his prediction will be right in 5th match (he predicts Lithuania to win against Portugal)

From what I have seen,Italians are too much selfish.Kinda sad, since their team has really good names.
There is an interesting matchup tonight-Parker vs. Teodosic.Too bad both of them are injured,so its not 100% sure they will play, although there is a word that Teodosic will play no matter what.

Haven't the Miami Heat taught basketball fans anything this year?

Not a great game but a thrilling one. Those last second 3pointers from Scharffatzik were great.

Spain scored 2 points only at 10 minutes and they couldn't score for last 8 minutes. Unbelievable.

Congratulations Turkey on winning against Spain. Fourth quarter was great 16-2.

Has anyone seen this yet? It's fucking terrible. Just as ugly as Shaun Livingston's injury.

What a game by Lithuania tonight!Seriously, you guys were just killing it from 3point land. You would easily beat USA with this performance...
Oh and one question, why is Kleiza not playing?

11/20 is great, but they would have to defend well also.

Kind of hard for me to appreciate that kind of good shooting from the outside after witnessing what the Mavs did to the Lakers in game 4 of their 2011 playoff series and knowing that Kobe alone can make those amount of threes all by himself...

Oh and one question, why is Kleiza not playing?

Kleiza got hurt last season. I don't remember what happened but I remember his recovery was estimated to be almost a year, so he's definitely not playing.

lol @ shadowgrin.

Seriously, has no one seen that Sosa injury yet? I expected like ten posts here that read "OH SHIT THAT WAS AWFUL!!!1!1111!!!ONE!!!!!1         "

That injury, meh. We've come across Shaun Livingston's leg, Greg Oden's leg, Bogut's arm. The NLSC is probably insensitive to it by now, unless it happens to people we personally know (which I hope doesn't).

Looks like a soccer injury when a sliding tackle goes wrong. Horrible stuff, hope he still gets to play someday.

Re: Eurobasket 2011

We got lucky playing against Serbia. If it wasn't for the three-point shooting, we would have lost because our defense sucked :(. Tomorrow, we face a daunting task of beating the undefeated French. Hopefully we (or Spain at least) will humiliate French. They need some humility, those pompous asses.

Oh no we lost to France. But we'll win against Germany. WHO IS CHRIS KAMAN!!!!!

Re: Eurobasket 2011

What a bad performance by Serbia today.Just poor play on defense, plus bad refs.Teodosic needs to wake up,he is not shooting very well.

Re: Eurobasket 2011

Sat Sep 10, 2011 3:20 am

Germany defeated Turkey 73-67 despite scoring only 6 points in the opening quarter. Kaman had a big game. Nowitzki had fould trouble early in the game. Refs were, as in the Spain vs. Serbia game, lousy again.
Germany now has to win against Lithuania on sunday, to stay in the tournament. Not an easy task.

Uros12 wrote:What a bad performance by Serbia today.Just poor play on defense, plus bad refs.Teodosic needs to wake up,he is not shooting very well.

Agreed, Serbia's performance was poor, but on the other hand, Spain (except Rubio) was really really strong.
