The more I think about it, the more I think there does need to be some contraction. New Orleans Hornets have to go. Really they should've been OKC Hornets, but hey, Stern & league wouldn't let Shinn move them

Anaheim is solid location for a bball team I think. Minnesota don't need to be there, I think even Vancouver is better location for pro team than Minneapolis. Bobcats should've never been started up.

Anyways, at the very least do everybody a favour & cut the Hornets loose.

Concerning expansion teams I agree The X (if he was seriours about that comment), adding the Bobcats wasn't the smart move the NBA expected it to be. Don't get me wrong, I was not amused when the Hornets were moved out of Charlotte, but adding the Bobcats to the league feels like correcting a mistake with another one.

I was being serious. Bobcats seemed like Stern trying to give NBA back to Charlotte. I think Charlotte didn't want the Bobcats, they wanted Hornets. New Orleans can lose a team also since it doesn't have an owner.

Patty Mills is rumoured to have signed with the Adelaide 36ers. They have a 'major announcement' lined up for tomorrow, but their last major announcement was a benchwarmer, so it could be anything.

NBA takes legal action against locked-out players

Trying to head off the chance of an antitrust lawsuit from the NBA Players Association, the league went ahead and beat the union to court.

The NBA filed two claims against the NBAPA on Tuesday— an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board and a lawsuit in federal district court in New York.

The NBA accused the players of being uncooperative in negotiations toward a new collective bargaining agreement by making “more than two dozen” threats to dissolve their union and sue the league under antitrust laws to secure more favorable terms in a new CBA.

If the league is really losing money (not just in the books) over a span of several years I agree with you on your comment on David Stern. If you'd run a company like he runs the NBA you'd just get fired.

No surprises there, X. I can see myself taking more of an interest in college hoops in the event of a prolonged lockout, which sadly seems inevitable with the latest meeting and move by the league.

Legal actions? That sounds time consuming. I am going to turn to more hockey, UFC, and possibly poker. Sad days...

Isn't it usual to take legal actions? In germany air traffic controllers announced that they probably will go on strike. First thing happened was that german flight security went to court to gain omittance.

To be honest, I don't expect any agreement in August and I doubt that there will be a new CBA even in the early days of September. At this stage of the lockout legal actions could be seen as just the flexing of muscles. But both sides know that THEY will have to get to the point where they both can agree on a new CBA. Any enforcement via legal actions could make things only worse. Well, that seems to be what you said in short.

Something between a BRI of 54,3 % and 40 %, so I'd say around 47,5 %. Just kidding about the 47,5 %. I do not know the real numbers to solve the problem, but I think it's on the players to give up on their 54,3 %.

Btw. I really do not know how to reach an agreement an the soft cap/ hard cap debate.

They have 57% now. 54.3 is what they've offered to lower it to.

I'm aware of the fact, that the reduction to 54.3 % BRI is just an offer. Same for the 40 % BRI proposed by the owners. But I stand to my opinion that the NBPA might have to accept an new CBA which cuts their share of the BRI below 50 %. Players - I'm pretty sure the know about it - are on the weak side. It's the same situation employees face in a company that earns less money then it spends: Either they accept cuts to their loan or they get replaced by cheaper employees.
