He can definitely dunk, his high school mix tapes are great. I hope he is back to full health by the time of the contest.

That would be really nice...

I really can't see any other than Blake winning.

Andrew, I meant season dunks, not career dunks. I wasnt saying the he cannot dunk, I just thought it was kind of awkward. There could have been a different fan favourite instead of Jennings, like Nate or Westbrook as short guys. But maybe the NBA was afraid of Jennings saying that NBA only picks adidas players

Fair enough, but the point remains that the number of in-game dunks doesn't really matter if he's got the ability to dunk and the creativity to compete in a dunk contest. Looking back at that footage from his high school days, his selection makes a little more sense.

I think Nate Robinson's had his day in the sun as far as the dunk contest is concerned. He's the only three time winner in the history of the contest but last year's victory was almost by default and the one over Iguodala was a sham thanks to Kenny Smith. I don't think he'd bring anything new to the table, so I'd rather see someone else get the opportunity.

New video of Jennings. The high school stuff was pretty sweet. Seems like he lost his hops or something. Looks like he could barely dunk it, maybe it was at the end of practice.

Sportsgamer: I see what you mean, Jennings just had foot surgery, I don't being in the dunk contest is going to help him very much right now.

I'll rather give Shannon Brown a second chance over Jennings...I think he'll put up a much better show in LA, oh well

I don't entirely disagree, but Brown's performance last year doesn't make a strong case for a second chance. Jennings is a peculiar choice given he's recovering from a broken foot but after last year's disappointing contest I'm kind of glad to see an entirely new field of competitors.

Good for a chuckle:

If posted before, sorry.

Fuck. After what Kenny Smith did to Iggy, why would they even let him anywhere near the participants of the contest? It's not like Blake Griffin needs help from Kenny Smith in robbing the DC.

Good thing is that Blake doesn't want to have any props involved with his dunks.

Somehow, finishing second to 'Nique in a dunk contest and then competing in a couple more with some fairly unremarkable performances (his signature between-the-legs bounce up and off the backboard before completing with a reverse dunk aside) has established Kenny Smith as an expert on dunking and dunk contests. The debacle with Iguodala just makes it all the more insulting.

I lol at the comments in that video.

Baron Davis is trying to kill Blake Griffin
GOD DAMNIT MONTA!!!
baron davis probaly thought god was running toward the rim lol
It would've opened a portal to another dimension. It would've sucked in everyone and everything on the entire planet and we would've been transported to a world where distance no longer exists and time is standing still. Therefore noone would ever be able to grow older, women wouldn't be able to get pregnant and the burden of eternal life would've slowly but surely turned everyone crazy until they would kill themselves... So be glad he missed...

...and the usual hater comments on how the NBA is dick riding Blake by featuring his missed dunks.

 those are great

there used to be a lot of bitching about LeBron getting the top spots last year for any Chasedown or Fast Break dunk in the comments, not surprised that's continued to Blake.

That would've been a very strong candidate for Dunk/Alley-Oop of the Year.

Me neither, it was only a matter of time. There's a very small window where everyone gets excited for the Next Big Thing, then a bunch of people turn.

it would be cool to wait and show the dunk on the jumbotron from his view before he actually does the dunk. but i tihnk the nba has frowned upon props since dwight's superman dunk

Rightfully so, they've gotten out of hand. There's still plenty of stuff that can be done with the ball, variations on old dunks, combinations that put a new spin on things and stuff that can be done off of lobs. A gimmick is alright every now and then, but I for one didn't like the path the contest was heading down with all the props.

I agree a 100 % with you. Don't like players using that much props , it's ok every now and then , but there is still many dunks left to do in the SDC
