When the player dunks, hangs on the rim, then grabs the ball and dunks again without touching the ground

If someone does that Kobe and Vinsanity will inject themselves into the contest, might have a show then.

Chicago Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations John Paxson has levied a $10,000 fine on Bulls rookie forward Tyrus Thomas for his comments after being selected to participate in the 2007 Sprite Slam Dunk competition to be held on NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by EA Sports on Feb. 17 in Las Vegas.

“This fine is an appropriate response to the remarks Tyrus made concerning his participation in the Slam Dunk Contest. It is a poor reflection on Tyrus individually and a poor reflection on the Bulls organization and I am certainly disappointed,” stated Paxson.

Anyone know how much $$ the guys in the dunk contest earn? I don't remember the figures, but I think it's something like $40,000 to the winner, $20,000 to 2nd, and $10,000 apiece for the 3rd and 4th place dunkers. If that's (somewhat) accurate, I hope Tyrus gets eliminated in the 1st round. :D

I LOVE PAX.

Nate Robinson's inspiration. Makes me shudder to rewatch that - definitely the second-worst performance of all time. The funny thing is that Birdman turned out to be an above-average player after that contest.

I thought he was only suspended for a few years, but apparently he's gone completely.

Tyrus Thomas should be kicked out of the competition for that, i hope he at least gets boo'd at when he is up to dunk. That is a disgrace, what a jackass.

Wed Feb 07, 2007 5:47 pm

I'd be in it for the free cash.

Can't survive on a rookie salary  .

So would I ...since I can't dunk.

But seriously, Tyrus Thomas is an ass hat

EDIT: Just saw this article on realgm.com: http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... ts_thomas/

Thomas has been fined 10.000$ by the Bulls :D

I really had high hopes for Thomas, but with that attitude of the Dunk contest, Gerald Green just got a new fan.
I think horrible sounds will come from the audience, when his attempting a dunk.. Or when he gets a 50.. [Boooo...]

Thu Feb 08, 2007 5:18 am

Hopefully he will be removed. I just saw this on hoopshype.com

The NBA is looking to remove Chicago Bulls rookie Tyrus Thomas from the all-star slam-dunk competition and replace him, a prominent agent has told us. Thomas was fined $10,000 by the league after telling reporters he didn't really care about going for anything but the money. Thomas said he was "going out there, get my check and call it a day." "The league is looking to replace him," the agent said. Orlando Sentinel

Replace him with Shannon Brown, he hasnt made a name for himself yet :D

Thu Feb 08, 2007 12:24 pm

good stuff......get James White just for the hell of it.

Thu Feb 08, 2007 12:46 pm

Who said you need any minutes in the NBA do be in a dunk contest? James White is one of the best dunkers...ever. He should be in it.

Thu Feb 08, 2007 2:06 pm

Who is James White? Tyrus Thomas will win the slam dunk contest.

Predictions.

1. Tyrus Thomas
2. Nate Robinson
3. Gerald Green
4. Dwight Howard

Thu Feb 08, 2007 2:19 pm

This is James White

Also how is Robinson gonna beat Green. Webb won only one contest because he was lucky. Robinson only won because of unlimited tries. Robinson won't get lucky as we see from Webb. Green on the other hand does this
http://youtube.com/watch?v=WxeHYBppmY8
not much of a contest.

Thomas, how does he win when he is replaced? With this comment he is contridicting himself and ruin his rep.

“I would like to extend a sincere apology to the National Basketball Association, the Chicago Bulls, the City of Chicago and to my fans, family and friends for any negative feelings that may have been caused by my comments. I truly feel honored to be invited to participate in this year’s Slam Dunk Contest during next week’s NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas. The opportunity to represent the Bulls and the City of Chicago on a global stage is a privilege that I do not take lightly. I regret the extent to which my comments indicate otherwise.”

This is gonna be liked so much be Stern that Thomas will get his wish, no apearance at the dunk contest.

Thu Feb 08, 2007 3:26 pm

Apparently James White is going to be in the NBDL All Star Weekend, so i doubt he'll be in the NBA Dunk Contest

Thu Feb 08, 2007 4:10 pm

Carney, Ager, Noel, White, pick any of those over Tyrus.

Thu Feb 08, 2007 4:46 pm

is gay any good? havent really seen him play

Thu Feb 08, 2007 4:47 pm

nothing special
